    I've had the u3000 for a few weeks now. I absolutely love it. My observations (minor gripes):
    The timestamp is way too small.
    I have a blinking security light on my dashboard which reflects in the windshield, and will trigger the RADAR parking mode every minute.
    RADAR mode also got triggered by clouds in the distance lighting up from a lightning storm. That was actually pretty cool.
    I'm peeved that in playing videos on your phone that you have not yet downloaded they won't play widescreen. Instead they play all squished up, even in landscape orientation.
    If you turn your ignition off while downloading videos to your phone the parking mode will turn on and kick you off the camera and stop all your downloads. You cannot resume where you left off.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  8 місяців тому +3

      Thanks for the feedback, we'll pass it on to Thinkware as well. You should be able to play streamed footage widescreen, I'd recommend trying another phone for that one. I resonate most strongly with the camera going into parking mode and turning off the wifi, that can be annoying. Though, you may get an extra minute or two more out of it if you don't have the radar parking mode, as that setting does disable a wide range of connectivity features to stay energy efficient.

    Nice hair cut, 7:35 that what happen to me yesterday the thinkware connected app said went into ultra saving power mode cause it was 90 degrees outside & probably hotter in the car no wonder you guys recommend thinkware for hot areas. I'm really liking mine there are downsides just sometimes the app takes while to connect to guys helped me out cause i didnt get the spliced cable to get parking mode for the powercell 8 sucks the basic cable doesn't work like that . Another thing the cloud is nice but having thinkware should've copied or something & made their own cm100 so we dont need to get a 3rd party hot spot

    Thank you, as usual, for the excellent presentation.
    What amazes me is that there are plenty of UA-cam videos giving reviews about the Thinkware U3000, but they always leave out their tests and real-world experiences with the Rear Dash RADAR.
    After watching numerous UA-cam reviews of the Thinkware U3000, I'm puzzled about why the reviewers are skipping the evaluation of the Rear Dash Cam RADAR. They seem to just repeat what the manufacturer says, mentioning that the Rear Dash Cam has a built-in RADAR to detect motion or impacts, and so on. Could it be that they are just doing marketing for the manufacturer?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey there, glad you liked the presentation!
      When it comes to showing the Radar, it's something more difficult to show in-action while still making it interesting for Viewers, and many people are familiar with how it works, as the radar module option has been available for the front cameras of the Q1000 and U1000.
      Still, if you'd like in-depth testing on the Radar and how it functions, check out RCG530's extensive write-up/testing here: dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/thinkware-u3000-testing-review-rcg.49111/

      Thank you for your response.
      It is true that many people are familiar with how the U1000 FRONT Dash Cam RADAR works, but no one is familiar with the U3000 Rear Dash Cam RADAR, which is new. We are all excited about this feature and eagerly await a genuine review.
      It is not difficult to demonstrate how it works in action and to confirm to customers that it functions as claimed by the manufacturer. However, it appears that you were simply reiterating what the manufacturer has stated. Consequently, it cannot be considered a true "review" as the video's title suggests.
      In essence, the video seems more like another marketing piece aimed at engaging viewers. To accurately reflect the content, you may want to consider removing the term " IN-DEPTH REVIEW” from the video's title.

    Great informative review. How easy is it to swap to another vehicle after a car lease expires - 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe? And do you think there could be a potential for any warranty issues from a dealership?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  5 місяців тому

      Yes, you can swap to another vehicle once a lease expires, but the difficulty of this will depend on how hidden of an install it is. Generally speaking, it's about half as difficult taking it out as it is putting it in. As for dealerships, normally there is no issue with a dashcam, but it's ultimately their discretion so do consult them.

    Great review! Awesome gadget. If Thinkware doesn’t offer, can’t you guys manufacture a power cable for connection to a battery that is connected to a 12V socket? In the US, Insurance companies are offering devices that connect to the OBD-II port for a discount and some of us don’t want to mess with direct connection to the fuse box on a leased vehicle. T-mobile also offers a WI-FI puck that connects to the OBD-II port, so for people that already use this port, it would be of value to have another connection option. Just an idea… Thank you for the great review! 👍

      While this camera does come with an OBD cable, it also comes with a 12V cable. If you decide to go with a battery pack as well, then our PowerCell 8 or B-130X do also come with their own respective 12V power cables as well.
      As the Thinkware U3000 uses the same power cables as previous Thinkware models, all of our existing cables to connect battery packs to Thinkware cameras will work just fine!

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Місяць тому

      Glad the review was helpful! Rest assured that connecting a dash cam for parking mode to your car battery is the most common setup for a dash cam. The camera has voltage cut-off built-in that can be configured as needed, preventing the camera from drawing all that much power from the car battery.
      With that being said, there is some wear and tear that can be felt in the long-term, that comes with any battery discharging when the vehicle is off. This will only be felt after many years of running such a setup constantly.

I can't give too much exact advice without knowing the car model, but there are plenty of installation tutorials on youtube here. • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  11 місяців тому +1

      Great feedback! It is unfortunate that radar parking mode disables the cloud, but is understandable given that it allows the camera to remain in a low power state, not possible when it's constantly connected to the internet for the cloud. Impact and motion detection would be a good option with the cloud, as it would given you notifications remotely if needed.
      It would definitely be very handy to change settings remotely with Thinkware, and it seems like a step in that direction as the Thinkware Connected app lets you power down your camera remotely! It's also helpful that settings can now be changed over bluetooth for Thinkware, much easier than standard wifi.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  10 місяців тому +3

      Quite the complicated setup! A single OBD cable will fully occupy the OBD port, so if you wanted a second U3000, you'd need a second OBD port, if your vehicle has one. Or you could hardwire.
      In my opinion, it would be much simpler to go with the VIOFO A139 Pro 3-CH, which is a front, rear, and interior setup. If you are dedicated to the U3000, running 2 cameras in the same vehicle is possible, but even then, this model does not have an IR camera, designed for recording the interior. The only thinkware model we offer that has IR would be the F200 Pro 2-CH IR.

    Hi again Joseph, If i were to choose between the Powercell8 and Thinkware ivolt Xtra battery, which one would you recommend for the U3000 front and rear camera?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  4 місяці тому

      Hell again. I'd recommend the Powercell 8. While the ivolt Xtra is a solid battery and can uniquely allow the U3000 to provide additional info on battery health, we've gotten feedback that the additional wiring to provide this can be rather complicated.

    • @terencerodrigues6018
      @terencerodrigues6018 4 місяці тому

      Thanks Joseph, Just to give you an update....yesterday I was speaking to the Thinkware rep and he told me that they do not have the powercell 8 - Only the ivolt Xtra and ivolt mini. He also said the ivolt Xtra could only be connected via the hardwire and fuse box whereas the ivolt mini can be connected via the 12V cigarette lighter which does not require a fuse tap and fuse box connection. Simply just plug and play. I really like this plug and play method as I prefer not to go into the fuse box. But then its a tradeoff between the number of hours, no usb port connection, no app and no further battery connection if required in future with the ivolt mini. So not sure why they do not have a cigarette lighter connection for the ivolt Xtra.
      Anyways, does the Powercell8 have a 12V cigarette lighter connection? If yes, would I need to purchase any additional wires etc for connecting with the U3000? Will this battery be suitable for the U3000 front and rear dash cam and will the cigarette lighter be OK to draw the 12v current to ensure the powercell8 battery is fully charged as well as the original car battery is not compromised in any way with the cigarette lighter connection?
      Please advise, thanks!

      That's a great question. The good news is that you get the best of both with the U3000, as it's base resolution is 4k@30fps, but you can switch to 2k@60fps if you prefer. 4k can help in busier, lower-speed situations, but higher fps can help when you need to pause things frame by frame, such as sideswipes on the highway. 1. To use the Thinkware U3000, you'll need the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app for the basics, and then the Thinkware Connected app for the cloud. The Thinkware Connected won't need a barcode from this unit, but will instead rely on a MAC address, which you can get from the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app.
      2. Parking mode is set up in the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app, go to dash cam settings -> recording settings :).

I am asking this again because a few days back I was speaking to the Thinkware rep (USA website) and he told me that there is no chance of viewing the LIVE feature remotely if the car is switched off. He said this could be done on the U1000 but no way possible with the U3000. So that's why I was a bit skeptical and disappointed too but after reading your response was a quite elated. 1. The wifi for the Thinkware Q800 Pro will not stay on at all times, and will time out after 5 minutes of inactivity. The wifi can only be turned on manually through the wifi button on the face of the camera, and the camera must be in normal recording mode.

So my question is, if I connect the U3000 camera with a hardwire kit or if I use an external battery, like the ivolt Xtra or Powercell8, which will actually require me in both of the above cases to connect to the fuse box and this will eventually give the U3000 camera a constant power source alongwith having an internet connection inserted in the usb port of the battery, will I be able to see my car LIVE remotely from any location even when the car is "SWITCHED OFF"?

      Great question! The radar sensor for the Thinkware U3000 Dash Cam uses radio waves, not X-rays, to monitor the surroundings. Here's why it works: the radar sends out radio waves, which can indeed pass through windshield glass. When these waves hit an object, they bounce back to the radar. By analyzing these reflected signals, the radar can determine the distance, size, and movement of the object. This is how the U3000's radar can effectively monitor your vehicle's surroundings, even through the windshield glass.

      Hi there. Yes, you technically could use the rear cameras as an interior camera, however the rear unit is not an Infra-red camera, so it would struggle in low-light situations in the cabin, unlike a specifically designed IR camera. Consider taking a look at the A139 Pro-3CH, which has an IR interior camera.

    Is anyone making an adapter plate to use this with a rearview mirror mount (like Blendmount) yet?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  11 місяців тому +1

      Not yet for these models unfortunately. It's quite difficult to create something that will fit so many different vehicle models, which is why BlendMount carries so many different variants for different vehicles.

    • @ThomMurphy
      @ThomMurphy 11 місяців тому +1

      @blackboxmycar I understand that. But Blendmount and a few other brands have already made rear view mirrot mounts. They simply make different adapters to accommodate different devices. The rear view mirror mounts themselves, for different cars/mirrors, are already designed and available, for the most part.
      What I'm suggesting isn't as complex as designing a new rear view mirror mount or highly customized device mount, such as Blendmount's prior Blackview device adapters or even their radar device mounts. Rather, it may be the simplest device adapter yet, a simple plate that (screws into the rear view mirror mount and) allows for the (3M) adhesive pad to be adhered to it rather than the windshield.
      Something like that could accommodate these tamper resistant adapters and a wide range of, typically, windshield mounted devices. I would think BlackBoxMyCar may have enough influence to have Blendmount consider such a plate or, failing that, could develop their own.
      Heck, a handy individual could buy Blendmount's BM-SP-0004 or other such spare part, cut a plate to size, bend it in a break, drill some holes, do some black anodizing, and have a very popular product. I'm thinking Blendmount would be better off making such a plate, or plates, available rather than having some other entity bring it to market, but if they won't maybe y'all should...

      Thanks for the feedback, I'll answer your questions here. Yes, the camera by default will constantly record while you're driving! If you get into an accident, it will automatically detect the impact, and bookmark the footage as such, placing it into a special impact folder. Yes, if you'd like to manually store a recording, you can do so through the big red REC button on the back of the unit, which will bookmark the footage as manual recording. You aren't able to connect additional cameras to this system, it is only a 2-channel system.

Most police will give you a micro SD to down load onto. You u pop it in download and now you got all you need. Or say you want to edit some cool views, just download to SD, transfer as to camera or labtop and edit away. Best to have hard copies, digital transfer is never as reliable, an often dose not upload or is lost.
