Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This UA-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video. - Спорт
I respect somebody willing to put(t) their personalized product out there to get the opportunity to get constructive feedback on how to improve their personal product.
This is Rick’s way of saying “stop sending me boxes or you’re going to get roasted” 😂
im sure if its actually a good product it wouldnt have gotten roasted
Well done Hardy golf. You have the confidence to enter a very competitive market with extremely niche product.all the best for your business
To be fair (way), everything and everyone has to start somewhere - with some refinement based on your feedback, who knows? Even if it just stays as a hobby business for extra pocket money, my glove off to him.
Oh you've just killed the poor guy lol
that’s on the guy who sent it. it’s always a gamble/risk. like going for the green in two on a par 5. it could pay dividends or fail miserably
Meh even a bad review on Rics channel will make him lots of $ lol
They’re even more expensive now 😂
Don't know about "killing" the guy, I saw it more as some good constructive criticism. There's a reason most putters have a few degrees of loft... if this one was zero or one degree of loft and it's causing the ball to skid excessively prior to rolling, that's going to negatively impact performance. He did give the guy kudos for his workmanship and artistic design on the grip and putter cover... just that for 350 pounds you expect the putter to perform as good or better than any cheaper putter out there, and it doesn't.
@@MonsterERB exactly he probably will learn from this video. Like Cobra did from Rick's aerojet review. They literally made the dark speed exactly how he described in the prior year.
Well, he might not be Scotty Cameron but he did followed his dream.... good on you mate!
great comment!
Rick gets a mystery box. Dudes probably stoked for the review and Rick totally shits on it🤣
It was a shit putter lol
That was the most brutal review I have ever seen on UA-cam..."bro your company is just going to fizzle out and die"
A mystery box could be anything. It could even be a boat!!
“Then peter lets just get the boat”
“Quiet lois, the men are talking”😂
We didn’t get the boat, we got the box, HOP IN!
@@PargolfinA boats a boat Louis, a mystery box could be anything, like a boat, and you know how much we wanted one of those.
Hardy rolled the dice and went home on a Greyhound bus. Hope he continues to hone and perfect his skills.
you are scaring me with your handling of the stanley knife!
But at least your schools are not a shooting gallery
I still do appreciate that Rick will give an honest review - just straight up... it is what it is... If you're going to send a club in for a review from someone with millions of subscribers across his channels, that's the gamble you take. But honestly, there will be some people who will see this, and still think it looks cool enough to add it to their bag.
Harps on about that indoor putting mat in his ££££££ studio being such a fantastic bit of technology.... reviews putter on actual putting green 👌
Just listen to this amazing Ping-like sound!
*Loud music the whole time*
Villain arc for Hardy Golf has begun…
Funny, but it’s arc. Arches are for doors.
@@JLeeeP thank you much, edited for accuracy
Or, maybe he just mills 3° of loft into the face. Fettles the sharp edges that were of a concern to you and sends one to you for review/feedback again Rick?🤔🤔🤔
I am intrigued by the weight of the clubhead. I currently use a mallet putter. I would have thought that a putter with a larger head would be heavier. But the putter is so light that my arms went all over the place when i first started using this putter. I have strategically placed 14 pieces of lead tape around the head to add weight without disturbing the balance of the clubhead. It works better now. If I could find a putter with a heavy clubface I may consider switching.
Rick was just honest . This is why we can trust his reviews . That lad that made the putter should not give up just come back stronger and take the feed back a lesson . As business owner my self I have failed and win it’s just how it work . He should be glad that Rick actually made a video about his putter .
That's what it takes to get better. Hats off to Hardy for doing it, that's a tough step to take and he'll only get better for it if he chooses to keep going. I appreciate the honest review, too. Wouldn't being doing anyone a favor by saying it's a good putter.
Personally, after looking at that putter, if it had just a little bit of of loft to prevent that skidding Rick described, I’d put that club in the bag! I am partial to unique clubs.
I’ve got the design in all different lofts 👍 this one happened to be zero but next batch is all 3 deg. 😊
I was thinking the same. Maybe 3-4 degrees of loft, I'd like to see a little more rounding of the corners on the flange, possibly make the flange 5-6mm shorter and some full face milling. The grooves seem a little too wide or deep (possibly both) to be within regulations. Curious about that. Possibly add a plumber neck option as well. If it had at least loft, full face milling and a plumber neck, I'd possibly one just for the hell of it.
Good review! Honesty is not going to hurt this guy! Just gives him what he needs to make it better.
I think what this guy has done is brilliant. I worked with a guy years ago who made his own putter head on the milling machinery at work. He put it on a Ping putter shaft and it looked like a blank Scotty Cameron. He used it for years,
Test Srixon more mate, most underrated brand
I had a go with the ZX5s the other day & they felt amazing
srixon doesn't pay him enough lol
Wincing watching Rick waving the stanley knife around!!🤣
I think its a cool concept to have a somewhat 1 of a kind putter that is still high quality. The review definitely makes sense, but I feel the people who would buy this aren't expecting million dollar engineering and more expecting a professional looking one of a kind looking essentially "hand made" putter. Very cool concept and would love to see if he improves or implements some of the things you've mentioned to improve his putters going forward.
Ok hardy golf, now you need to put the loft on there and make the sound be more of a knock rather than a ping and send Rick a v2 putter
Love the honest, fair feedback. I liked the grip, shaft, and headcover, but the face needs work!
The last person I trust to do a putter review is Stevie Wonder. Rick is #2. Nice goin Eh ! That putter looks awesome!!
I like this. Give the small guys a chance. I also like the look of the putter. If this can be personalized, colour, own name, ... I do see a market for it. Good luck and thanks to Rick of being so honest.
I hope he sends another version to him next year with some upgrades. Gotta root for the little guys.
My man is putting loft on his next version no doubt! 😅
Mr Hardy is not smiling after this review. Have to agree with Rick, why would you spend $350 on a complete unknown over $350 on proven brands? Sell it for $50, and you would get 1000s of people buying it….then take it from there.
350 pounds is almost $450. Makes it even worse 😂
@@BB-pg5kl and in my Canada, probably $500. But if you bought it at Canadian Tire, you would get about $2.30 back ( in Canadian tire money mind you,…put it toward your next roll of hockey tape maybe. )
The grip and the head cover looked nice tbf! Also, i don't think Rick was as negative as everyone's saying, he gave him a fair amount of respect throughout the vid.
Hopefully hardy hears the positives in this.
1. Reduce price
2. Improve on story
3. Improve on fitting process
4. Include more in the box rather than just a peice of paper. A booklet of the story and experience buys people in.
and probably add a couple degrees of loft to the face. In terms of performance, that seemed to be the biggest issue Rick was having with it. The craftsmanship looked phenomenal, so I hope he doesn't get discouraged from this review since he's clearly very talented.
So to improve it, add 3 degrees of loft and soften the rear so that it doesn't get caught on grass if you are putting off the green, which Rick probably should have tested. But I love folks that can machine stuff. I'm guessing the guy has a Bridgeport Mill
I would love to see a review of the ping cross over hybrid irons!! They are a pretty unique design and I don’t see a lot of info on them. 🍻
You love the box baiting Rick 😂 😂
Liked the video and I think it’s cool to have someone manufacturing their own putters. Question though, why not use the fancy putting mat in the HIT studio? Isn’t that mat meant to be for putter reviews?
They spent all that money on it and I’ve never seen it used 🤷
Nothing beats a real green as that's what everyone will be playing on.
I imagine he will be using it more in the winter months when he’s doing reviews/practicing…
Good constructive criticisms. invaluable feedback for someone honing their craft and following a passion.
In fairness if he’s starting out and it the first gen he’s done a good job and good luck to him, he has a mountain to climb.
That putter was "Hardy" worth the effort in construction. Nice grip and head cover ok.
Sounds like a reasonable price compared to someone who would pay $2000 for a putter :)
This is good exposure and a good critique from Rick. I think it was fair and will lead Hardy putters in the right direction.
For people who like something a bit different …. Hope he continues and refines it over time. (Just as an aside, wouldn’t fancy knocking it against my ankle.😬)
Good thing is, there’s an affinity and a market for hand crafted items. Even if they’re not as functionally comparable, a small group of people will want and buy them for that reason alone, collectors more than anything really. Plus he just got some professional advice on how he can improve his putters.
A tad harsh but definitely criticisms to take into the next iteration. I can see some people wanting to support local business/design and not go for the big brands. Who knows, through some trial and error and efficiency to get the price down they might stumble on something people like that's local.
Appreciate the honesty when they’re asking us to shell out hundreds, good one mate
Harsh.
Or you're just soft
honestly, not at all
I bet Rick gets an updated putter with 2°-3° loft and slightly better balance and gives a way better review of it
Thanks for an honest review. Have you considered reviewing Takomo golf clubs? I would intrigued to hear your take on them.
Damn. Could have at least said “looking forward to seeing what he does next with some of this feedback”. Poor guy
I like the shape of that putter. Needs to have a standard loft other than 0*. Grooves need to extend further across the face.
I really like the head design, and the finishing seems excellent, but the face looks a little underwhelming. Add 3* of loft, perhaps variable loft, some changeable heel and toe weights, a 'soft' milled face texture, and a first name to the brand (perhaps Laurel 😉) and he could be another L.A.B in the making.
Respect the honesty
I'd love to give it a try - the zero degree ZAAP putter served me well for many years. Price is not an issue, after all I play half my shots with it! Presentation also wins me.
Balanced is not same as face balanced, it can be balanced to be a perfect 10 degrees toe hang.
You should do a Takomo iron review.
Love Sweet Rollz Golf Grips!
You should try the Olson putter.. heard he is make some nice Scotty like putters.. will you ever do a review on upgraded putter shaft? Kinda curious about them
Chat, has anyone seen the Lombardi putters? That a one man band too but his milled putters are exquisite. I don’t know the chap, he’s American. But he makes savage putters.
When I saw Rick with that Stanley knife I was hoping the box contained a first-aid kit.
Would love to see an avoda irons review!
I like the look of it. The head shape is cool. It needs loft and priced at £150
I’m about 2 mins in and all I can say is: I would love to spend time on the golf course around Rick, but if he pulls a box cutter or blade out, I’m taking a 10-yd safety margin. I don’t know how a finger or the putter didn’t sustain some real damage during this unboxing 😂
Krew putters are interesting you can select the material, design etc all custom made for the customer!
Well, honesty is trustworthy. To take it a step further..golfers pay at least that much on high end putters they consistently miss three footers with, L.O.L.!
You should check out Sink Golf from southern England
Rick I hope you review the vice putters that just came out. They look very interesting!
I'm surprised you didn't notice that you edited out all the putter sound. You can't say it has a unique loud pitched sound like the old Ping putters and then never show audio of you hitting the putter for what it sounds like lol. Weird decision
Rick just called it a bottle opener 😂😂
he said I think it's just a hobby that will fiz it's way out 😂😂😂😂. but you know what we need honesty like that
Rick, will you reviewing the Cobra 3D irons? I am getting a set and can't wait. Would live to see what you think of them and the tech.
Rick, please review Takomo irons.
At least we know rick is honest
The guys in tears now
Would be very interested in your review of the new Scotty Cameron phantom lineup!
In true Dragon's Den style ...'I'm out' .Nothing ground breaking about that putter .£49.99 and it would sell a few units but £350 no no no .
Hey Rick, are you ever going to review the Callaway Chrome Tour golf ball?
Rick see I'd you can get your hands on the limited cobra 3d printed iron and give it a review!
Kinda of a waste of time... only 1000 made and already sold, who is the review for?
@tableshaper4076 there's only 500 sets made. However they don't go on sale till June, so they are still available. I just meant the 7 iron because they printed more of those for the reviews.
Can you please review the new vice golf putters!!!!! They look so good but I need my man Rick to give the day so
For that amt of money would be hard to purchase when there are other proven options (Scotty Cameron, Odyssey, TaylorMade TP) at that price point??
Día de los Muertos. Day of the Dead. Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion.
(before watching) if it was me sending it, it would've been a sausage roll.
Now that's a putter grip I would rock 💪💪
Payback for all the clickbait
Hope it isn't a cobra product because most likely it will be broken. I have an ltd lx ls driver and it sounded wierd so I took out the shaft and the weight ports and used a flash light and looked inside. My driver is 100% broken on the inside. I knew something was wrong with my cobra driver. 40 shots hit one 315 and that was a wrap
Do a review on Temu clubs. It keeps popping up on my feeds and would be hilarious.
Rick please review the Maltby Ts1 IM irons.
And he's now back in his day job..cheers Rick 😅
Would never spend that much on an unknown brand. The whole point in smaller brands these days is to make cheaper alternatives that compete with big brands. My thoughts
Small brands can also make boutique offerings that larger brands determine "aren't worth it" from a marketing standpoint. Good for the maker here to get his product out there, and I hope his next putter is even better.
Rick keeps it honest, don't send him a product unless you know its good
Alot of mention about the sound, but theres music over the top of the video so we cant hear anything of it.
Sound plays a good part of selection to clubs, and putters aren't exempt from this.
The dragging out of yhe video at the beginning 😂😂😂
Respect Rick for being honest unlike most reviewers
Are you going to test the SF-1 DRIVER? The claim is it will cure your slice as its an anti slice driver.
Thought that was quite Harsh, the guy Hand Makes putters, that takes skills and engineering at a high level, Rick “Guessed” it was zero loft (He could have at least fact checked, and the price is for hand crafted engineering, not mass produced Scotty’, I felt Rick was unduly harsh there, a simple “Thanks, really cool putter and it works fine” would have been kinder
It doesn't work fine and for the price it isn't worth it. Looks terrible, sounds terrible, feels okay and performs mediocre. Why must Rick lie or be kind? He has always said it like it is, that's what built his channel and following. No reason to change it now just to spare someone's feelings.
This guy is delusional if he thinks he can make putters at the same price as the leading brands, without offering anything different and expect people to flock to buy it. Get real
Sure but its not like other popular putters are not engineered and built well. While this is probably cutting steel and CNC milling by hand which is a great skill, companies just do this at mass production. Feel like something like this needs to be either superbly priced, or have some incredible patent/catch. Like the fact there wasn't even a spec sheet says a lot. There is a reason putters arn't built with 0 degrees loft
@@dripsa How would you know what it performs or feels like? Oh you just blindly believe everything Rick says? The same Rick who claimed the G430 10k Max was too spiny and didn’t perform any better than its rivals, then saw half the UA-cam players put it in the bag as it performs better and spins lower than its rivals 😂😂 The same Rick who chose the Cobra Darkspeed driver because it looked cool, if you trust Ricks advice you’ll be playing Wilson irons soon, even though they don’t perform as well as others, but just because he thinks h looks cool playing them, Rick has always been Ego over Reality, you carry on, I’ll continue to question it everything, just like Pete Finch does when Ricks playing with him
@@garygary6729 that was a little harsh.
I kinda agree, but when you put a $350 price tag on it that goes out the window because Rick's gotta be honest for the consumer.
I like the look of it
Damn Rick 😂 ease up on the guy, how many putters have you made?
Are you going to review the new vice putters?
Hey Rick can you review the benross delta xr irons pls
So, I googled them and was not impressed by the design. It looks like a CNC cut block with minimal effort for appeal and tech. They started with a metal block and cut a cavity and some rudimentary grooves. The lack of loft and sharp edges Rick mentioned further proves it. I hate to say this, but I could go to work tomorrow and ask the guys in our tool room to make this same thing in a few hours with the CNC machine. Only suckers would pay £350 for a glorified 1997 Dunlop putter with a cool grip and head cover.
