About the german question- it’s kind of weird how people have these expectations for language learners to learn specific languages. It almost makes it seem like learning a language is a casual easy thing that you just decide to do one day, but really it’s a commitment and people should do it if they feel drawn towards a language. I don’t even speak a lot of languages and I’ve still had people try to tell me to learn turkish or chinese or whatever, and I’m like..I don’t want to...haha. Like you want me to dedicate hundreds of hours to a language that doesn’t interest me when I’m already short on time in life? However I do understand asking a polyglot if they’ve ever been interested in a specific language.
Your videos are (in my opinion) the best of the polyglot videos out there and you deserve every single one of those 200k + subs. You videos are very straight-forward, not show-offy, and actually realistically helpful. Seriously thank you so much!
This was very interesting! When I was small, I used to be very passionate about languages. I studied Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, German, French, even Esperanto. I was still obsessing over languages into my teens!! I got 95%+ in all my languages I took in high school, passed JLPT N3, and then, I dropped all of it. I don't know why. I guess I felt I just wasn't good enough to make a career out of it, and that's what counts, right? But I recently discovered that I was wrong, and that it does matter. I've decided I want to pursue my love of languages all over again, and I'm very excited for it!
You're one of my fav Christian youtubers to support. I've been trying to get back into studying Korean and Vietnamese and you really help motivate me !
How do you avoid getting overwhelmed by studying too much? Do you take a break for a few days? Sometimes studying multiple languages can be a lot of work
The tags of the video referring to what you're talking about in that specific timestamp is so cool. You work so hard I can only salute you. You deserve the 200k and more Lindie. I'm sorry people are mean. The rest of us appreciate all that you do and the effort little or big tweaks you make in your videos and website that sometimes may go unnoticed. I appreciate you.
German is such a beatiful language, it has a unique way of expressing, i think you would love it. I was grown up in Chile, in a kind of "german" family, and we speak half spanish and half german. I don't know why, but I think reading in german is very enjoyable. Thanks for your Videos, you are my inspiration for learning languages :-)

Luca Lampariello, Steve Kaufmann, Ikenna, and a French woman named Christine who's last name IDK but her channel is called polyglot stories. This one and those 4 are my favorites.
@Anastasia Naumova I might also recommend Richard Simcott and Loki2504. The ladder does videos where he visits a particular country and practices what he has learnt with locals. He is really genuine and it is a delight to see him stumbling at first in a language in one video and in a later one seeing his progress in that language.
I loved this video just like I love all your videos!! Somehow I can recognize myself in you, but still be able to look up to you. I'm a young language learner. I'm currently learning a 6th language, Korean. I hope I can get as fluent as you one day!! Thanks for inspiring me and many other people all over the world!! And congrats on 200K ❤😊

I am a recent subscriber (sometime in the last few months), and I have really enjoyed your channel. I appreciate how you show the struggles with learning languages and how mindful you are about being authentic and how you are held to an impossible standard by some people (and you shouldn't be) but you stay true to being you and don't shy away from being truthful with you struggles as well as your successes. I thinks that’s just my mind as all of my heroes are always woman from actresses, singers, athletes. You’ve honesty been one that I’ve had to always look back on answers for when I was unsure and technically your videos inspired towards Korean and your brother’s t-shirt to Vietnamese 😅

You mentioned the Bible and apologetics. Have you tried to learn Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic? I'm fairly good at Greek, but I think I need someone to talk with about the Semitic languages.
Hi Ms. Lindie the very first time i've watched your video i was so impressed and youre so amazing. Honestly just wanna ask how you do that? Im not fluent in english and also in hangeul but im studying korean for many months but i felt like im not improving at all. Everytime i feel inspired and im thinking about all the grammars and vocabularies and rules. My mind just suddenly got crazy. I dont know what should i do first?Where do i start? I wanna watched korean movies without looking in the subtitles. There is so many things i wanna learn in korean language but at the end of the day. Ive done.. nothing.. please help me give me some tips where to start and what i should i do. Thank you 😘😊

Is it weird that when I try to speak in French my brain keeps going to Korean? And even filling gaps with Korean words. The thought of meeting with a french person or attending a french online class terrifies me because *I KNOW* that I will keep slipping into Korean
I have studied Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Hebrew (in that order, from oldest to newest). I have found that if I try to think through a sentence in one of these languages and I run into a word I don't know, my brain fills in that gap with the word in the previous language I studied before that one. It's weird.
I have the exact same problem, but with Japanese! I can still understand spanish for example, and when I tried to remember some vocab and answer someone in Spanish at the airport, I was like: "Pero .... あの、あー、どうしてスペイン語が話せないの?" ... like, switching directly to Japanese after just one word! It is somehow cool, but also sometimes frustrating!
I like to think of it as me asking my brain to find a word in my target language and my effort goes desperately into *not english!” And so my brain runs off and brings the first not english word it finds and that is always in the second language I am most comfortable in, and I’m like NO a different not english word!!
It happens to me a lot. I've really been studying Hebrew and I don't know any other Semitic languages. Despite that I keep inserting Hebrew words into sentences whenever I try to think in any other language besides English or Spanish. Even with Spanish(my heritage language), I sometimes convince myself Hebrew words are Spanish.
Learning Chinese question: Is it possible to learn how to speak and listen & understand Chinese without being able to read it? Currently learning Japanese and I'm afraid learning to read Chinese will interfere with learning Kanji. Please suggest.
Hey Lindie. A question that is really interesting for me is: How to type foreign characters like Chinese, Korean or Japanese on computer (like you did in you Korean study with me) I hope you read it. Greetings
For chinese for example, my computer already has that functionality, once I change the typing language to chinese. I type in roman characters aka pinyin and then the corresponding characters are showed to me and I choose the correct one.
You can download the keyboard and add it to your computer. Once there (windows 10) you can then swap between them with I think alt+shift? I do it so automatically I don't think about the key xD. 加油!You can do it!
Hello! I was wondering how I should go about learning Japanese. I have so far learned Hiragana, although I can not write it well yet. Once I become proficient in hiragana, what should I learn next? Should I learn Katakana immediately after, or study grammar and sentence structure? Or is there another aspect of the language I should start learning? I am self studying Japanese and am struggling with the order of what to learn. Thank you to anyone who may respond to this comment.
I absolutly love your videos. Could you please consider giving some photography advice for those who whish to incorporate the language of art in their lives as well? I am a brazilian living abroad and always wanted to capture this “foreign je ne sais quoi” into my photos, but without any success...

I hope you get to do your outside hobbies soon (I didn't catch well whether you said the place u live in is lockdown cuz I'm a sleep deprived. Don't be harsh on me, people xD)
In one of your videos you mentioned that your a Christian. Did you find it difficult at all to make friends in Japan as a Christian? I'm catholic and God willing I will study abroad to Japan in two years but I am a little worried I will have a hard time making friends because people might think I am boring lol. I'm sure I'll be fine but I was just curious of your experience.
Actually Turkish and Korean are very similar to each other. A korean can be fluent in turkish in 4-5 months. So I hope you start to learn Turkish one day. Loves and hughes from Turkey 💖
18:05 is like me, when ppl say - FRENCH is a popular language to learn, don't you think so? Me: I trying to learn another one. - But french is very beautiful Me: I don't want to learn french right now! maybe later, but not now! - Is a popular language Me: I don't care!!!!!!

So? Could be funny.

Yes! Finally a fellow language and badminton enthusiast.
Hahah! I wouldn't go as far as calling myself an enthusiast, but I really enjoy it.
Could you suggest me a korean's beginner textbook in Japanese? Keep up the good work!
I absolutly love your videos. Could you please consider giving some photography advice for those who whish to incorporate the language of art in their lives as well? I am a brazilian living abroad and always wanted to capture this “foreign je ne sais quoi” into my photos, but without any success...

Like your videos. I start to learn spanish and also trying to be on intermidiate level in KOREAN
Hahah the airplane story.. that’s so cute^^

Actually Turkish and Korean are very similar to each other. A korean can be fluent in turkish in 4-5 months. So I hope you start to learn Turkish one day. Loves and hughes from Turkey 💖
WHAT really? Amazing. And i think Finnish is related to Turkish too

Hi Lindie, Could you turn on / allow subtitles ? It would be a huge help for me.
köszönöm
Hi! Making subtitles takes a very long time and I'm doing it on top of my job. I'll try my best, but here's a link for anyone who can contribute subtitles: ua-cam.com/users/timedtext_cs_panel?c=UCjVwBKqRh8ckPWhfD5UDKcg&tab=2
