Thank god that there is FINALLY a UA-camr that says that it's not about the goals but rather the tether to the language so kudos for that and it really made my day!!
Hi, I'm Puerto Rican and I'm glad to hear you that Reggaeton was something that really motivated you to learn spanish :) I typically never hear any polyglots mention this genre so it makes me really happy to know that you like it!
I'm honestly surprised how many Spanish learners don't listen to reggateon! It's just so fun even people who don't speak Spanish enjoy it a lot😂 PR has some of the best too.....saludos!!💖
@eylulnim saludos! I really appreciate that you mentioned part of our culture and you're always welcome to visit our island! I look forward to all your new content, and i'm honestly surprised you dont get more views because your content is amazing! 💖💖💖
as a fellow polyglot, PR has the coolest spanish and coolest latin american culture/ music. its so funny watching other latinos copy yall lmao 🤣 naturally, my husband is from puerto rico and he's the only reason my spanish is as good as it is
Yes! Another person who understands that it's just physically draining to talk to people in general. Like, I don't hate people of course, but being around them is just physically draining, and that can be a roadblock when trying to practice a language and speak to someone, since you not only have to deal with the difficulties of trying to speak a language you're new to but also having to deal with your introvertedness.
Enjoy the learning process: this is by far the best approach not only when learning a new language, but when learning every new thing. You just got a new subscriber. Great video. ❤
Watching Avatar: the Last Airbender in my target language is going to change my life! I’m currently learning Korean so I can connect with my grandma (in short), and while I like K-Pop, I’m not much of a K-drama person. I do watch reality and variety shows, but I’m always trying to find new ways to consume the language. I’ve seen Avatar and the Legend of Korra front to back many many times, and I’ll never say no to rewatching. Watching them in Korean, this time, will be such a fun and new experience!
I've never learned another language before, but am interested in learning Korean because I love K-dramas. The prospect of learning a new language is so intimidating, but your video really helps me understand what the process is like and makes it feel way less overwhelming. This was so incredibly helpful. Thank you so much. You just got yourself a new subscriber.
omg I'm so happy that you mentioned "set goals for learning languages", cause I absolutely hate when I hear this part in polyglots' videos! do i need to have a certain purpose to start learning a new language...? like I'm not going to study or work in a foreign culture, I just enjoy doing something new! so it is so fresh to know that I'm not the only person who doesn't see the point in going through this journey just because of some specific reason:(( thank you for this video, I like it sm!! your content is always so refreshing and interesting💌🙏🏻 love you and hello from Kazakhstan🥺🩷
probably the best video I've seen as far as being genuine in this topic. I'm learning Japanese, almost N3 (middle of the line) and always see people giving such a structured approach to language learning, I think it's good to have some structure but like you said, having as much fun with the language as possible is what matters most to me. thanks for posting this and have a nice day.
What’s wild is I just added Turkish as language I want to learn and you pop up on my feed. But I’ll be learning it passively no serious focus for now. I want to focus on getting my French and Spanish to intermediate first.
You popped up on my feed and after watching, I knew I was going to subscribe. You are so to the point and honest. I’m an aspiring polyglot and I relate so much to not having the goal but having the interest..being easily bored, the profanity, loving song lyrics… ect. You pieced everything together so well for my brain. Thanks gal. ❤
Can you do a video on your German process? What you used, what you tried, and the apps you felt was the best for you and why. How long did it take you to learn German, and if you learned it because you lived in the country.
When it comes to German I really found it good to get listening practice by listening to dual English and target language short stories... just search on youtube like German / English dual listening and you can hear short stories read back to you, one sentence in English, then same sentence in German etc... it's really a great passive listening way to absorb some of the language 😊 good.luck with your deustch 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I only speak two languages fluently and I also can speak Italian and French but I can bot say fluently cuz saying the word (fluently) it means that u can talk about every single topic in the language not just limited ones and I always watch polyglots to get inspired and I feel like they do not speak all the languages fluently themselves 👍
Ah, such a good video! I usually don't click on those bc they have some bullshit impossible advice that anyone with fulltime job wouldnt be able to do, but your good energy brought me here. Totally subsribing, love the vibes
You are goals! I speak a few languages but I’m nowhere near at your level of fluency in most of them. I don’t know how your brain has the capacity, that’s amazing! Thanks for this video
Aww thank you sooo much! Well to be fair it's just my favorite hobby so I invested a lot hours just consuming stuff in those languages and the rest was kinda easy hahah I hope it helps💖
thanks for more tips, I'm having trouble being overwhelmed simultaneously with brain fog when learning and switching all thought languages in my daily routine. even so, learning joyfulness and a clear goal, and being patient can't rush the time.
COMPLETELY AGREE like I have a goal in learning English, this goal is motivating me constantly, but that's now the main thing the very process of learning a new language is damn fascinating languages are ways of communicating with people, exchanging information when you start learning a new language you can get a whole lot of new knowledge, there are so many interesting things! you need to like the process of consuming this info, or learning a language will become a torture
I watch turkish dizis and I learnt many phrases and words in turkish 😊 I started following some turkish accounts. Sometimes I forget english word, but I know it in turkish 😅 greetings from Poland ❤
I HAVE A QUITE HIGH COMPLIMENT TO GIVE YOU- the word "pronunciation" is very hard to say properly for polyglots for some reason, they either put emphasis in the wrong place or something, and you nailed it! I'ts like the 1 tell word. But yeah in convo we don't care about accent unless we can't understand your or are a bigot. And the latter you can;t do anything about. Congrats on your lang. ability as such a youthful age. AND your sense of humor is just natural and refreshing.
thank you for giving so many practical ways to learn alone passively and actively! That’s what I’ve been missing and so many videos just say “I moved to that country”, “my international friend/ family member taught me,” or “I studied several hours everyday I loved it that much.” I’m like ok next who’s normal 🌚 So thank you for being realistic and funny! Also as an American, you will pass for American if/when you ever visit- your English is perfect 👌🏾
Ahh I love the advice that you give-so much is stuff I already feel / already do! As we say, “Now you’re speaking my language.” Guess I just need to hear it, because even with structuring things to let myself enjoy the process and consume content I find interesting anyway, it’s an uphill climb. Literally I love documentaries and learning about politics. Learning how people think and how different social systems work is 💖💖. Animal behavior and animal cognition is one of my go-to topics as well. Two days ago I watched a Nat Geo documentary in a language ✨adjacent to✨ one of my TLs just because I thought it would be interesting. And last night I fell asleep thinking about how listening to German podcast and matching words to English isn’t an ideal way to learn the language as a beginner. Because you’ll miss out on things like how the word “Angst” is the German word for anxiety is also the word simply for fear. That’s something I learned on Easy German, though I had noticed it before without really being able to zero in on what the difference is between English and German. I guess one thing I will take from your presentation is that I will start doing more quizzes and apps like Anki or Quizlet (I forgot the third one you mentioned).
My goal for is to learn Spanish because my husband is Hispanic and I’d like for our future children to be bilingual:) I also feel like learning your partners mother tongue is like a huge show of respect and commitment

does anyone have any idea or typ to study vocab without anki or any sort of flashcards please. i hate those so much but i genuinely dont know how else to learn it without just writting the vocab over and over. And im not doing that lol Love your video btww, really helpful
Lol, we have the same problem. I love learning grammar but vocabulary is just all over the place. I don't like the work associated with using anki or flashcards.
i speak french and i have to tell you, it’ll be tough. But you can do it !! As a native, i can give you a tip, learn a LOT of slang, french people speaks a mixed french-english and arabic from north africa, at least young people.

Can you make a video on how not to forget everything/how to fit all of them in a day? I speak 4 languages and learning the 5th but sometimes it gets too overwhelmimg trying to practice all of them in a day
Of course! I'm planning on doing a day in the life so I can show my schedule a bit more in detail hehehe
