What I love most about this solo is that he's not just showcasing an extensive kit or amazing speed and endurance, he's actually performing a composition

    • @MetalionMusic
      @MetalionMusic 22 дні тому +1

Agreed... he's making use of that extensive kit and his speed/endurance to created a song essentially, with foot tapping grooves and a story... one of my biggest inspirations when I was a young drummer (and still) for sure.

As saddening as this is for everyone and for myself as well, just remember the impact he had on your life and make sure you don't ever forget to make sure new people or anyone know who he was and what he did for music and the whole entire world. I know this is a day that I won't ever forget. May his greatness become the essence of life for anyone in need of it. It's not a very common thing when a soul like his leaves this reality. So tragic to hear, but I think the best thing to do in honor of this day,l is to never forget about him and everything he has done to shape the world around him by doing the thing he loved the most. Rest in peace Neil🌌 I hope Cygnus is a hell of a place to live. What a legend. I hope his family will be able to heal and move forward with things. My deepest condolences to anybody who is firsthand affected by his passing. There will never be another one of him. No matter how great some people are, without his influence, they may have never even been a name. Thanks for everything Neil. Enjoy your afterlife friend, you deserve a great one.

A drumming virtuoso whose skills and talents will never be equalled. To call him a legend is a woefully inadequate compliment. Besides being history's premier drummer, he was a humble, quiet, educated, well read, decent human being. I'm a Rush fan for going on 50 years. It's been an honor.

I just really hope that he didn't have to live out his final days in agony from any kind of excruciating pain. I bet it took a hell of a lot of pain to get to him, regardless though he deserved to end his days in whatever fashion he wanted, aside from it being the other day. But it also just so happens Peart's biggest drum influence the great Buddy Rich also happened to pass away from a brain tumor. Only difference is that Rich lived 3 days after surgery and then passed from complications. I think Neil Peart probably that in mind upon finding out and if so, I hope he felt some ease in his mind knowing that he was going to pass almost exactly the same way as his drum hero. I feel like that was in mind for himself and family, especially considering that they didn't publicize his passing until 3 days after. Coincidence or not? Who knows. If not still, I'm happy that even under his circumstances and it being pretty tragic to hear. I'm sure he is finally able to be reunited to his past wife and daughter he lost in tragedies. I just hope that people don't mourn forever and just appreciate that he was one of the best musician of any instrument to ever have lived, plus for all the endless inspiration he gave to probably easily millions of people and more to come. Sad sad sad news but I mean that's life. Crazy but he was actually mortal hahahahaha who would have known? Sad to see people comment here just to try and say Neil Peart is overrated and start listing drummers they think are better. He has changed the face of drumming and rock for the passed 40 years not just with his drumming but all Rush's songs which he writes the lyrics to. Sure there are guys today that can out-maneuver Neil, but even those drummers would shake their heads at you for talking him down, as I can almost guarantee each of those drummers loves and was heavily influenced by Peart, he is a pioneer of modern rock and helped lay the path for modern drumming and the list of big names and celebrities that idolize him is staggering. And on top of that, this solo is actually one of his least impressive when ranked against all of them, like A Show Of Hands for example. He literally had the flu in this clip and was on the verge of cancelling the show! He will always be a legend.

jwaldman69 They don't get it. Pert is making music with drumming like a piano is also a percussive instrument. All those drummers they are probably talking about are just slamming away with all kinds of rolls and noise that is never in time. Anyone can do that. I bet none of those drummers can play in time with RUSH as Neil pert did. He played in time signatures that would change from 4/4 to 6/8 even to 7/4 then back to 4/4 nailing it in the ass. There is no band today in the style of RUSH that can even come close to rush. If anyone disagrees with this you can KNOW they are all the way ignorant. Peace.....

I have been a drummer for 53 years I got a chance to see Neil once and when I did I just wanted to go home and burn my equipment because obviously I was never going to reach that plane of playing him and John Bonham are the best I've ever seen live may they both rest in peace this is how you play drums

Neil said whenever he heard another great drummer, he just wanted to practice.

Mike portnye in Dream Theatre in his golden days was very good also. But I'm a man and a listen to the drummers everyday. I think the best man is Niel always🙏😀

Danny Carey from Tool might interest you too, he is an insane drummer, able to play a different rythm with each of his limbs, simultaniously. It's great to watch

No doubt about it that Neil Peart was 1 of the most amazing drummers to have ever lived and was taken away from us way to soon 😢

In addition to the legendary drummer, left us an example of overcoming life after losing a daughter and 10 months later his wife! Read the book "Ghost Rider".
    RIP Peart!

Without a doubt the best drummer and song writer ever! Many don't know that he wrote 90% of Rushes songs.

Still love ...respect and miss this man..
But grateful that he left us with such profound musicianship to watch and philosophical insights into life to help us through ours...

I've been playing drums since I was 12 for 14 years. Neil Peary was and still is my biggest inspiration not only drumming wise, but poetically as well. The way him, Geddy Lee, and Alex all created beautiful lyrics are just goated. There will never be a group like Rush or a drummer like Neil again.
Can't believe it's already been over 3 years...
Rest in Peace to the GOAT of drumming
