Well done Meg! I so admire the way you and Ben honor the animals you harvest. You literally put every bit to use as it should be! Blessings to you both and the beautiful kiddos..from your biggest fan ❤️🙏
I have to tell you I get the biggest kick out a buggy she just cracks me up I love her your boys are so quiet she makes up for everybody lol please be safe and God bless
I love how buggy loves to work in the kitchen but also loves to work with dad. Meg works her tail off in the house, kitchen, and children, but dad also isn't afraid to help indoors. You guys are amazing. The whole entire family. I wish that I could go back in time with my children and teach them real life.
Buggy's excitement over eating the lamb scraps and all things garden...("tomato, tomato, tomato!") is a testament to how you are raising her (and the boys) to appreciate and utilize what you have. It will help them all their lives. Good work Mom and Dad!
I LOVE your family and watching y'all live life. Buggy is great "Tomato Tomato Tomato" excitement and "THIS IS NOT WORKING!" frustrations and all. Oh how we have all been there sister. Thank you for including 🙂
I am so glad you left that in! I loved the entire video, but hearing Buggie yell at the end really made me laugh. So sweet that you can call on any of your sons, really, to go help her when she's about to melt down... I just love your family!
It seems like every day gets a little crazier in an already crazy world. The dose of quiet loving reality you bring to your videos is like a balm to my soul. Thank you.
Buggy's hand appearing from the side to reach into the meat bowl is just the cutest! Of course, the "THIS IS NOT WORKING" was pretty epic too! lol. I need that on a T-shirt!
Y'all are wonderful and joy to watch. It is refreshing to see your family pray at your meal reminds me of duck dynasty and how they ended every episode with prayer and dinner.
I love you guys soooo much and rewatched at least 6 times Buggy’s “this is not working”. I am laughing harder than I have in a long time. She is so cute and she sounded just like I feel sometimes. Thank you for keeping that in after editing. Thank you so much for sharing your gardening, your fooding and your awesome family with us. You guys are the best!! PS. Meg, the sweater you made is beautiful and I loved it with both kinds of buttons.
I use to work for Vermont Country Store and they sold scrapple. It was a very popular item! I would love to see a monthly Azure Standard haul on your channel….large or small, it would be fun and interesting🤗! Little Buggie is always ready to help out💜!
Hello from southern VT, Whitingham/Jacksonville area. I would also enjoy seeing how to use Azure from their experience, for example, what to buy and what not to buy, because local grocery stores are mostly terrible.
I just want to say that you and Jessica are my inspiration. I suffer from severe depression and have a hard time getting moving but your videos always get me going! Love you guys.
❤ I wish there was a double like button! Buggy's frustration and your sweet response sent me to the like button and and I had already hit it. Probably at corn dogs. Grin! Thank you for sharing your lives with us who are still dreaming of our own homestead.❤
God bless your precious family, thank you for showing your faithfulness before you have your dinner. God reward's those who earnestly seek him & aren't afraid to show who they are. Have a blessed night 🙏💕👼
The whole topic of eating scraps reminds me of my folks saying " Waste not, want not" and while maybe you cannot grow every single scrap of food you eat, you have taught me a lot about NOT wasting food. I see Meg making broth from what many of us would toss out and it makes perfect sense! Thanks for everything you share here!
🙋🏼♀️🕊. Watching Lillie help Meg .. I think she will not be very hungry at dinner time. Lol …. You two are a wonderful couple.. Blessings to your family 💞🕊💞🕊🍀🍀
That was hilarious, I bet the expression on her face, was even better than that firm explanation that we were privy to here. I called everybody, my mom, my brother, I told him they had to watch this video all the way to the end. Oh, and we put an eggs in our scrapple as a binding agent, I guess. But we love it too. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it. Jimmy. You got a let us know how the lamb came out, I’ve never used the lamb in scrapple
This is not working, hahahahaha! She is cute as a button. All your kids are nice looking boys. Well behaved to and I enjoy seeing them grow and be. I miss those days. Never had a girl so really enjoy your channel. Peace!
My niece is a few months younger than your little one and EVERY time I see her in these videos it reminds me of my own sweet and spicy little girl. Does the Auntie heart some good :)
Trying to fill all of those hollow legs with what you can produce on your land is a big part of what keeps me watching your videos. The tips and thought process of how you go about doing that is quality content. Thankyou for the time you take out of your day to make and edit and post your videos.
"THIS IS NOT WORKING!!!" I love your beautiful family! You all are what a family is. Thank you for representing a God fearing, God loving family... much love, ~Idaho~
Sounds like Phoenix AZ weather. It is 2:10 here and 106. My dogs don’t even want to go out to do their business. About 7ish I may venture out. I do my backyard work after 9:00 and then I fall in the pool to cool off and then hose the chlorine off. Your sweet baby girl is getting so big. Her blond curls are so adorable. Stay safe and continue to try and stay cool.❤️ Just saw the temperature, sorry, it is 111.
We totally agree, having the rain is really nice for the garden beds except when there's red clay every where. Our side door goes directly to our mud room. It has a braided rag rug which is now 3 different shades of red clay color until I wash it (washed weekly). I'm so glad to have the mud room here, my guys bring red clay in on their bootsfeom working outside. What can I say, Oklahoma is known by it's red clay. Look at those tomato plants!!! Man, I can't wait for our tomatoes to look like yours. I'm craving homemade bread with fresh tomato, mayo sandwiches!!! Y'all enjoy the scrapple!
Ben, you bring up an excellent issue.. that actually goes WAY back to our colonial times. People now a days too often assume that our forefathers lived off the land and were TOTALLY self-sufficient ... which was rarely the case. That concept sets up such an impossible bar to achieve. One family to 'do it all' is simply not possible. No Man is an Island. No doubt what motivates many modern homesteaders is the QUALITY of their food. To have as much food as "CLEAN" as possible is a great accomplishment. Plus you have inspired so many of us to just DO what we can... I have a few raised beds.. but I finally STARTED my own Tomato plants WoW!.. and today we started doing that String Thing that you do. 🍅 I've now got trellises up for my Cucumbers 🥒 Brilliant 😊 Without people like your family to inspire, . I likely would not have bothered. So THANK YOU ALL.. You are a far greater blessing than you can imagine.
Oh Buggy you are the cutest! Thank You all of guys, and thanks for all of your knowledge over the years. It sure is a pleasure to watch all of your videos.God Bless! Chuck Henry.
So awesome to see you family working together! Even your baby girl is helping!! Good for you, working together as a family unit. Love you kids! And, yes, I can say kids ... XO
Hi, I am from Cincinnati Ohio and grew up eating goetta. It is a German recipe and for many years only available in this area. Made with pork and steelhead oatmeal. Many people mistake it for scrapple but like you I think all areas of the country have different recipes like scrapple and gotta Depending on the nationality that settled in that area.
Thank you so much for the cooking demo! This week I am challenging myself to only cook with the supplies on hand - no grocery store runs. When I do this challenge, it helps me to see the food on hand in a different light and I find I enjoy the challenge. Be well and God bless.
I harvested 150 garlic bulbs Sunday evening. This is my 4th year with garlic. I have so much salad mix I wish I could share it with you. Tomatoes are coming along great. They will be early for me this year! I think potatoes will be ready in 2 weeks. Bunnies ate the green beans, pepper plants, some of the eggplant and all of the sweet potatoes that took so long to cultivate. Such is gardening.
Such a compliment that the Azure delivery guy watches you. I realized you can’t possibly grow every thing, but you’re a family that definitely uses everything to the max to make your meals. Using it up speaks Volumes about your lifestyle. Ben you will have time maybe around late August to put lettuce seeds into the ground. I always find it sad that my lettuce has gone to seed about the time my tomatoes are ready! Buggy is so adorable 🥰!
1) Sure wish we could get some of your rain here in Olympia! 2) I’m with you - use as much as possible to minimize waste! Right now, I’m processing dehydrated garlic scapes into powder. Music was done first, then Shatili, and now it is Rose de Lautrec. 3) Harvested Oregon Blue garlic yesterday (6/26/2023).. Today, the planter box is being replanted with Lillian’s Caseload peas. 4) Poor Buggie “It’s not working”. Think we’ve all experienced that type or frustration at one point or another! Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA - 6/27/2023.
Azure Standard month of May was my first haul with them, viewers if you have never checked them out you should. So much delish food and the coordinator for the Asheville drop is top notch and so organized.
I'm watching this as I eat a late dinner of liverwurst and toast. This batch was made with chicken livers, onions, bacon, "chicken spices," cornmeal, and a bit of butter. So yummy! As a homesteader, I don't eat only as I grow, but each year, it seems I do a bit more, buy a bit less. Love your vlogs.
Ben's description of pouring the scrapple into loaf pans, slicing and trying in bacon grease is identical to preparing gotta. Isn't that amazing how it is prepared the same.
when we have BBQ turkey, duck, goose and chicken wings i call it 'wing it' i mix them together... for bread end crusts i soak them and then put them in the pie maker for the base and then make the lids from scratch. sometimes if i haveenough left over meat i will put it through the mince grinder and finely grind it up and then add some pork or beef drippin and then stuff it into sausage skins. for the poltry bones i also grind up and put into the animal feed along with egg shells... when its used for poltry feed. for the meat grinder i made my own perferated discs from 2mm up to 5mm holes depening on what im grinding
I remember having this as a child but I must of been 3 or 4 at my great grandparents home. Scrapple was a real treat. Never have had it since. Until I saw you make it I never remembered really or knew what it was. My great grandparents were gone after that and nobody else ever made it
Heya, I remember making scrapple wen I was still living at my perants home. it is a really old dutch food that normally is made 1 - 2 weeks before X-mas. back in the old day's ( 100 - 500 years ) it was made from all the meat left overs/scraps and part's that normally goes to the pigs. we messuared the right thickness by putting the spoon in the middle of the pan and wen it would keep standing wen letting the spaan loose it's the right thickness. In my country (The Netherlands) we call it "balkenbrei" wen I translate it to english it's = bar knitting so I'm not 100% sure if I'm right
Well, your Buggie made me laugh. When she said its not working. That reminds me of my daughter at that same age and she would say "I do it" and then she would get frustrated because she couldn't do it. I love everyone in your family works together as a family. Your family brings me joy. Thank you
I just love your family, but Meg is setting the standard really high for any young ladies that may be added to the family in the future :) and Ben is setting an amazing example of being man that loves God and family and also provides for his family. SOLUTION FOR WATER HOSE; I got tired of dragging water hoses to the garden and back to the animals, so I got pvc and put it along the fences/strapped to back of barn...along the base of garage. On each end of the pvc I put water hose connections. They were all on an incline so in the winter it would drain when the water hose was disconnected. Now I only have to deal with 1 hose in the remote places. In some places we did bury it shallow so that it could be mowed over but is not used in winter time. Just an idea for you because it has made my life so much easier :) It's similar to your solution to get power over the place for the hot wires.
Meg - love your cooking - Buggy is so grown up now - has plenty to say. A good way to start the day is to see your family doing their thing... God bless you all.
I love how you guys were so open. I was thinking wow these guys are so self sufficient. You are like “ Naw…. We buy groceries.” I like that❤ Still wish I was half as self sufficient as you.
I haven't been pruning my tomatoes for the last couple of years. The year before that I left one tomato unpruned and I got tons and tons (ok, not really tons but a lot more tomatoes than the pruned ones lol) of tomatoes off that one bush until mid November
In my Eastern Washington/Montana family there was never scrapple or anything like that. The internet taught me about Goetta and it was so much fun to make...meat, oats, seasonings basically. Really a great way to stretch meat into a breakfast meat. But hubby wouldn't eat it so no more Goetta making for me. Thanks for showing your day and the fun family evening.
Buggy's "THIS IS NOT WORKING!" mood was me all day at work today. Thanks for the laugh 💖😂
That was hilarious
Still chuckling!
I often feel that way to Buggie. Lol
😂😂
🤣😂🤣
Lol. Buggy is so vocal and the boys are rarely heard in the videos. Love her enthusiasm over the tomatoes. Blessings to the Hollars.
Hahahahahahahahaaaa "This Is Not Working!!!!" Man she is such a joy! Makes me smile and laugh every time. Y'all are truly blessed with your children.
You need to make that into a ringtone!!! 🤣🤣🤣
“This is not working!!!”
I love how buggy loves to work in the kitchen but also loves to work with dad. Meg works her tail off in the house, kitchen, and children, but dad also isn't afraid to help indoors. "THIS IS NOT WORKING" that made me chuckle 😆
I LOVE your family and watching y'all live life. Buggy is great "Tomato Tomato Tomato" excitement and "THIS IS NOT WORKING!" frustrations and all. Oh how we have all been there sister. Thank you for including 🙂
Thanks for the laughs at the end when sister yelled “This is not working!!!” She is so cute!
Best phrase I ever heard, "this is not working". Buggy is a hoot.
"This is not working!" I feel you Buggy! I just love her sweet, spicy self.
Oh my gosh, that "this is not working" was too funny! She is already a spitfire and will keep you all on your toes I'm sure.
Buggy's "THIS IS NOT WORKING!" Priceless!
It’s ok Buggy we all have those days ♥️
Precious HOLLAR Family ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I am so glad you left that in! I loved the entire video, but hearing Buggie yell at the end really made me laugh. So sweet that you can call on any of your sons, really, to go help her when she's about to melt down... I just love your family!

No truer words spoken 😍
I totally agree. I love this family💖
Absolutely! I just said almost the same thing to my husband.
You should get the mini excavator it really nice on the farm
"This is not working!" Oh my, how many times I've said that around the homestead and with the same rage.
Buggy made me laugh! Hearing her yelling” this is not working “ lol
I always look forward to "visiting" the Hollars! Buggie is a hoot😅 "This isn't working"!😂😆🤣
I love how excited Buggy is over the tomatoes! 🍅
Buggy is growing so very fast and taking on responsibilities like a grownup.
That was the perfect ending today. Buggy is adorable and funny!!! Maybe that could be your opening or closing for each video. Made my day, definitely.
Enjoyed. Blessings
I love you guys soooo much and rewatched at least 6 times Buggy’s “this is not working”. I am laughing harder than I have in a long time. She is so cute and she sounded just like I feel sometimes. Oh my gosh, buggy cracks me up! 😊
God bless your precious family, thank you for showing your faithfulness before you have your dinner. God reward's those who earnestly seek him & aren't afraid to show who they are. Have a blessed night 🙏💕👼
In Dutch it's called "Suddervleis". We do this regularly with "stewing beef", making Dutch Kroketten. Delicious!
Uhm... I was thinking more of 'balkenbrei'. Although that is thickened with ground buckwheat instead of cornmeal
Oh the memories of my dad making this
The whole topic of eating scraps reminds me of my folks saying " Waste not, want not" and while maybe you cannot grow every single scrap of food you eat, you have taught me a lot about NOT wasting food. I see Meg making broth from what many of us would toss out and it makes perfect sense! Thanks for everything you share here!
It’s the Hollars!!! Woohoo!!!
Love the down to earth reality that you guys bring. Thank you
I felt Buggie so hard! 😆 I wish I could scream that same thing at the top of my lungs sometimes!
She is so dang cute lol Love it she made me laugh so hard with her little voice so frustrated. Blessings to y'all
Oh my gosh, I laughed so hard about Buggie, hahaha. That made my day for sure!! "This is NOT WORKING!" So funny and so honest. I love it. ❤️
🙋🏼♀️🕊. Watching Lillie help Meg .. I think she will not be very hungry at dinner time. Lol …. You two are a wonderful couple.. Blessings to your family 💞🕊💞🕊🍀🍀
Yes, I loved that she took a bite for every bite she pulled off. 😉
I love the way Meg gently pats the food with so much tenderness and care. That is the difference between good food and great food.
You got a let us know how the lamb came out, I’ve never used the lamb in scrapple
THIS IS NOT WORKING!!! ☠
So funny, nothing better than toddlers and kittens for bringing joy to my jaded heart.
Whoa! A teeny hollering Hollar! 😂
Hey, we all can remember hollering "this is not working" at one time or another. Hahaha
This is not working, hahahahaha! She is cute as a button. All your kids are nice looking boys. Well behaved to and I enjoy seeing them grow and be. I miss those days. Never had a girl so really enjoy your channel. Peace!

I agree, Buggy!!!! Something keeps EATING my plants! "This is NOT working!"🤣😢🤣🤦🏼♀️🤣
Stay safe and continue to try and stay cool.❤️
Just saw the temperature, sorry, it is 111.
We have a “sacrificial rug” at the front door for all the mud. It’s terrible!
@@TheHollarHomestead LOL....best type of rug to have! You should have seen our previous rag rug....totally sacrificed
A new sound bite that will live, rent free, in my brain, Yay! Thank you for encluding that Meg. 😊
Oh my gosh! This is not working was the cutest. I live that girl. Your kids are amazing. I love watching all of you working together.
Buggy is a hoot ! The Hollar's planted no salad greens ? The HORRORS . lol. I don't know how y'all keep up with so much !
I've now got trellises up for my Cucumbers 🥒 Brilliant 😊
Without people like your family to inspire, . I likely would not have bothered.
So THANK YOU ALL.. You are a far greater blessing than you can imagine.
Isn't it amazing the amount of learning Buggy is getting and doesn't even function on it. It's just life. Thanks for letting us visit
Oh Buggy you are the cutest! Thank You all of guys, and thanks for all of your knowledge over the years. It sure is a pleasure to watch all of your videos.God Bless! Chuck Henry.
Oh my, your little Buggy is a riot. What a beautiful, clever and articulate child. Love your vids ❤
So awesome to see you family working together! Even your baby girl is helping!! Good for you, working together as a family unit. Love you kids! And, yes, I can say kids ... XO
"This is not working" gave me a big laugh.
A day in the life of the Hollars. Great to be part of it. Buggy should sleep well after her busy day. Blessings on you all. 💕💕🌻🌻
OMG! Buggy is so dang cute! 😂😂😂❤
LOL So much rage in such a tiny little package ha ha Buggy is the best!
Rage Buggy is hilarious! 🤣
Our ancestors never wasted anything!
Great job!

Buggie is so adorable. She reminds me of our twin granddaughters. They make us laugh like she does.
I love corn meal mush, this sounds a lot like it. 😊❤
Yes, very similar, just meaty!

"THIS IS NOT WORKING!" she has a mind of her own...lol😊😊
Looks like Buggy was eating will yall were pick the bones. So cute, she will have memories of that for the rest of her life. Yall are great
Well, your Buggie made me laugh. When she said its not working. That reminds me of my daughter at that same age and she would say "I do it" and then she would get frustrated because she couldn't do it. I love everyone in your family works together as a family. Your family brings me joy. Thank you

Your having the same weather as we are here in Spokane Wa! Hot and sometimes wet! Lol Buggy is becoming a big helper!
OMG!!😂😂😂 Buggy is a hoot!! Literally laughed out loud!
I haven't been pruning my tomatoes for the last couple of years. The year before that I left one tomato unpruned and I got tons and tons (ok, not really tons but a lot more tomatoes than the pruned ones lol) of tomatoes off that one bush until mid November
Me too, Y'all love me some snock! Love lamb!! Love the smell of tomato plants more than eating tomatoes! one of the very best smells~
