Meg, you do so many things well, but let me say that from one editor to another, you do a great job telling the story. I only got a glimpse of you editing, but if you are doing it on a lap top from the touch pad with no mouse, my hat is off to you! I would never have the patience not to have a mouse. Granted, I use a lot of special effects and do music vids, but you just consistently turn out good storytelling content. The music is tastefully and meaningfully done, an art a lot of content creators never quite seem to master. Sounds like you might be doing some music vids before long with little Meg starting to sing her way thru her work! That's the way it starts! You do realize she was ad libbing the music and the lyrics, and in her own way, it was making sense! And that little voice. The best music in the world!! ❤❤

I adore this family. Makes me miss my boys being younglings. My granddaughters are lovely, but they have homes. I'm an old-ish man with an empty nest. 🙁

Next time you need an animal shelter, I bet ur boys could build it 😃 Maybe you should give them a try?
We raised a dozen kids, everything cooked in huge pots. Normal was often multi tasking w/other foods/meals going, but it takes confidence & much practice to flow as smoothly as Meg does. It’s like a fine symphony. Meg flows flawlessly w/such smooth harmony. I love her joy the most and her heart to provide for her family. God says,
“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it w/all ur might” - that’s Meg.
God Bless ALL ur summer efforts. I Enjoy ur channel very much. ❤

You brought back a good memory of my mother and I canning raspberries together one summer. Just a thought from my past when I was a child, my mother would have a big bread pan with a dish towel in the bottom she would have a couple of inches of hot water to sit her jars in to preheat them . This would prevent extreme temp changes and no breakage. Might be worth a try. Love your videos, always looking forward to what's next.

Memories for me. When my four boys were young into teen years, every summer I would can fruit, pickles and beans to have for the winter. Both Royal Anne and Bing cherries were 10 cents a pound so we upicked around 80 pounds of them. And I would always manage to find pie cherries for upick, sometimes free and sometimes 5 cents a pound. They were so easy to prepare since you pick them with the stems on, wash and then pull the stems. Pits come out with the stems so I would freeze them in quart bags with a little sugar, all ready for pies. The other cherries I waterbath canned and I will tell you, after the first year, I never pitted another canned cherry. Everyone just had an old Tupperware little bowl by their plate and the pits went in there. Two cookies and a bowl of cherries was a great after school snack. We would get 50 quarts or so. That was on top of all the peaches I canned after you picking them, all the tomatoes, dill pickles, bread and butter pickles, tomato sauce, applesauce, wild blackberry jam and frozen berries for crisps and usually 30-40 pounds of blueberries frozen in old metal coffee cans for muffins and pies or just a handful icy cold for desert. I miss all of that hustle and bustle and everyone working together and laughing. My boys still talk about doing it with fond memories. My oldest is no 55 and youngest almost 50 so those were busy years and oh how I miss them. I also love watching Simple Living Alaska and you should see if Buggie would like Girl in the Woods. Cute little doggie, fishing, hiking, flowers, berries, building and quiet solitude in the woods.

Hmmm... I never thought to jar cherries. I've jarred cherry jam, pie filling, and made wine, but I never thought to jar them by themselves. There must be recipes for jarred cherries somewhere.
Just a safety tip... always pour away from yourself so you do not get scalded if the pot slips. You may find that you have better control if you place the container in a stool. I'm surprised that large glass jar didn't break when you poured hot cherry water into it. What I do sometimes is to run hot tap water around the outside of the jar before pouring hot liquids into it.
As for the pig wall, you should paint it to seal the bare particle board. Moisture will cause it to expand and fall apart. If you teach your sons to build and cut along with you, they will catch your mistakes before you make them. (eventually)
Nice to see the entire family working on the cherry project. Sure wish we had that many hands again. We normally pick our cherries at an orchard, but this year I am too far behind on everything to get it done. Tough year.

I was so happy to see this video. I got cherries from my In Laws family fruit farm. My husband and I pitted them and chopped them today. We got 5 bags of 2 pounds each to make jam. I will make 2 batches of jam tonight maybe? And vacuum seal the other 3 for jam through the year. I will give the In Laws a batch now and if they want one this winter make them up another one. With what they gave us it came to 10# ( For jam) and 9.6 ounces in a bowl in the fridge for the kids to make milk shakes tonight. We had it knocked out in under an hour. I was shocked. My In Laws said if we wanted more sweet cherries to come and get them since there shaking them. My husband and youngest son Ryan are headed out to the farm to get a lug of cherries. After seeing your video I decided to can some quarts of cherries and something else with the ones they are getting today. We get it free so what a huge blessing. We also get bushels of variety of apples in the fall and make all kinds of things. I would have never though to can them until I saw you do that yesterday. Thank you so much. Can you add to a video just a few words of what all you use the cherries for please? I know you said jam and Danishes I think was mentioned? Never made them but I am up for anything. I have been canning 30 years but still always learn new things and love it. Enjoy your video's so much. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend.

Meg, you are a Proverbs 31 woman, aka “Swiss Army Wife”. When a household decides to cook from scratch, it is a big job. Taking into account all the other chores, you still have to put together meals that take time, attention and care. What a great example you set. It’s also heartwarming to see how much your family truly appreciates it all.

I love ALL your videos…especially the ones that include both the inside and outside activities! Those pinwheels looked absolutely delicious🤗! I love cherries too😘. I’ve been known to get sick a time or two from eating too many🥴! Little Buggy was so adorable hanging with Dad in her red boots and washing her teacup in the kitchen🥰.

I love to watch you preserving your food, canning. I’m canning green beans, I’m almost done and then I’ll plant more carrots and beets. I made some pickled green beans and that’s how I can all my beets. I think Mo will like his house no matter how it looks! It’s awesome! Omg, Buggy and her song is adorable! “Dry it off, dry it off!” ❤️

If you feed the cherries to the chickens keep those eggs aside for you sweet baking. So pie crusts cakes, cookies etc. they are incredibly sweeter and richer when fed cherries. It sounds silly i I promise chicken eggs fed on cherries will change your cakes for the better. I used to live near a cherry farm and they started selling cake eggs after I asked if I could buy a box of the cherries off of the ground for my chooks.
They let me have the box for free (off the ground) I also bought 4 boxes of edible cherries from them. (In Australia we get boxes about half the size of yours) then when I went back next time she would give me 2-3 boxes every time as a thank you. ❤❤❤

I am a canner, the type of break you get on the jar may be related to temperature shock- which puts stress on the jars. Hot jar + hot liquid= no problem. Cold jar in hot water= potential for jar mess. The way that NCHFP instructs how to pack the jars is to heat the jars on the stove (in water) and pack them one by one, returning each one back to the pot after putting the lid and the screw band. Then you et your next jar out, pack it, and so on. I haven’t had any breakage that way. enjoy the season. And the cherries.

Saw Becky’s Acre Homestead video with the stress relief kitchen mats. Thought of you, Meg. And your helpers.
Tip. Use a cut lemon to remove gardening or cherry/currant stains from hands and nails. If it doesn’t instantly work, leave juice to dry on for a few minutes then rinse. Saves on rubbing hands raw. 💅
Works on wood work surfaces too if you want. 👍🏻
