Eric Burden and the Animals ..not one of their most popular songs but one of the greatest ever. Captures the music scene in the 60s..and the rock n roll here is to die for.

MONTEREY - Eric Burdon & The Animals
    The people came and listened
Some of them came and played
Others gave flowers away, yes they did
    Down in Monterey
    Down in Monterey
Young gods smiled upon the crowd
Their music being born of love
    Children danced night and day
    Religion was being born
    Down in Monterey
The Byrds and the Airplane did fly
Oh, Ravi Shankar's music made me cry
The Who exploded into fire and light
Hugh Masekela's music was black as night
The Grateful Dead blew everybody's mind
    Jimi Hendrix, baby, believe me
Set the world on fire, yeah
    His Majesty, Prince Jones
Smiled as he moved among the crowd
    Ten thousand electric guitars
    Were groovin' real loud, yeah
You want to find the truth in life?
    Don't pass music by
And you know I would not lie, no, I would not lie,
    No, I would not lie
    Down in Monterey
    All right!
    Three days of understanding
    Of moving with one another
Even the cops grooved with us
    Do you believe me, yeah?
Down in Monterey, down in Monterey
Down in Monterey, down in Monterey
I think that maybe I'm dreaming
    Monterey, Monterey
    Down in Monterey
Did you hear what I say?
    Down in Monterey

"Монтерее" - Эрик Бердон и животные
    Люди приходили и слушали
Некоторые из них пришли и сыграли
Другие раздали цветы, да, они сделали
    Вниз в Монтерее
    Вниз в Монтерее
    Молодые боги улыбнулись толпе
    Их музыка рождается из любви
    Дети танцевали день и ночь
    Религия зарождалась
    Вниз в Монтерее
    "Byrds" и "the Airplane" летали
О, музыка Рави Шанкара заставила меня плакать
"The Who" взорвался огнем и светом
Музыка Хью Масекелы была черной как ночь
    "Grateful Dead"

OK you youngsters of today, look at these people in 1967, they are now in their mid seventies into their 80's and your opinion of them is probably along the lines of they are the reason you are suffering for whatever condition you think you have. They were all Americans, immigration was strictly controlled, gas was 22 cents a gallon and came from a whole bunch of refineries all in competition with each other, nothing sold here was made in China except from Hong Kong and Taiwan, there were no plastic straws or grocery bags, soft drink bottles went back to the bottler to be cleaned and refilled, you fixed your appliances, you did not throw them out and buy new, LBJ was ramping up the Vietnam war, and penicillin would cure every bug you could get. The beginning of the end occurred at the 1968 Democratic Convention, and it has been going down hill ever since.

And here we are today. On a spiral down to degradation rather than "Down in Monterey."

The Plastic is up in DC. We actually talked to each other in person and didn't depend up these machines and technology. In 50 years, we have advanced in some ways, but in other ways, society is going backwards. I am an aging Hippie and cannot believe this bizarre world i find myself in now. I am ashamed of many of my baby boomers. They use to want to help change the world . Now they have bought into the lie and want to buy it. Their Karma will catch up with them.

    Who was prince Jones?

    • @jflaugher
      @jflaugher  6 років тому +5

Jojo - the line "Prince Jones" refers to Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones.

    • @arieldjarn
      @arieldjarn 6 років тому +2

I’ve always thought he calls Brian Jones “His Majesty Prince Jones” because of the Stones album “Their Satanic Majesties Request”. Which is an underrated album in my opinion and has a very nice psychedelic track called “2000 light years from home”
