- In this video I will restore a Biedermeier chair.
The Biedermeier period was an era in Central Europe between 1815 and 1848 during which the middle class grew in number and the arts appealed to common sensibilities. It began with the Congress of Vienna at the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 and ended with the onset of the Revolutions of 1848. I suspect that my chair was made a little bit later.

Title: Out-of-this-world CHAIR RESTORATION -
Wahnsinn...was Sie alles können! Schnitzen und Polstern auch noch!!! Faszinierend❤
Are you freaking serious! This must be one of your best ever. There seems to be no end to your talent. Wood carving upholstery stain matching it’s just unbelievable. Your choice of upholstery cloth was absolutely spot on. I was so glad to see that. What a master. Where in gods name did you get all this training anyway
I thought the same!!
Really! Just amazing, considering the incoming condition. Hard to believe it looked as good as this new..
Re. cloth: I thought exactly the same!
I agree amazing work
Great restoration. You have nviablee skills. But I don't envy the next restorer having to remove a 1000 staples
It was such a joy to watch a traditional upholsterer at work!
You truly took all the old so called repairs out and did the repair right. Loved the rebuild. You did a great job thank you God bless.
I have a Martha Washington table and an Eastlake Gliding rocker that I am repairing tomorrow. I went into the UA-cam rabbit hole and came out with a few hints for the age of these pieces. I want to repair them, not restore, reimagine, redesign, reuse or refuse! LOL. So, thanks for the very precise work on this chair, it made me realize that I know what I am doing.
I went to auctioneer school, and have bought and sold antiques and collectibles for nearly 50 years. Oh, and my mom owned an antique shop before she retired. We still enjoy the "leftovers" for now. Her health is waiting at 85 now so I need to get her to let go of some stuff. Such is life.
Its nice to see I'm not the only one who thought those visor/face shields were the perfect shop fashion accessory.
I think what makes your channel so popular is it is done without talking but shows every inch of the steps thoroughly. Plus you add a little humour now and again. I feel you're a very cool guy. Thanks again.
As you already know, the stain and finish you used brought this olde fellow back to life!
It’s totally hard to believe. “STUNNING” just “STUNNING”. Do you realize how good you are? Would loved to have seen the customers reaction! I’m in awe of your craftsmanship. And to top it all off, your into and ending were comical 😂😂
I have never seen a Craftsman do such Beautiful detailed work , it's amazing ! Your talent shines just like the furniture ! You are a purist . The editing is also very well done .
probably your most perfect job so far. chair looks impeccable.
If restored furniture which this guy has brought back to life, could talk, they'd SING his praises; his professionalism, amazing attention to detail and pride in his work make him arguably one of the best furniture restorers on this planet 😀 👍👏🎖
I love this, If the furniture could talk it would sing! 👏💙🤗
I find it interesting you say "Back" to life. I guess you could say it's mostly organic materials, but they weren't the conscious type this suggests.
@@xmantv9906 -qq---qqq nu😊😊
Your comment means? One could assume you lack good manners. I was taught that 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything'.
The piece was already in the state it was in, for the trash.
But this bloke saw a potential for it to have a new beginning as an object of use.
Being usable or serving its purpose. Today's furniture should have such a long existence. And be rejuvinated one could say a new 'life'. Born and then death. Lived and died.
It is so sad we would choose sarcasm over praise, for someone's endeavour.
Maybe we could see a similar item you have done?
Just my opinion, or should I say right to return a critic', of the critic.😊

I'm so envious of your carving skills. That lozenge you replaced was stellar. I love watching you give new life to precious antiques from old master craftsmen. So much history is lost when things get thrown to the trash heap. Thankfully, there will always be passionate and talented people like yourself who can rescue all these treasures and keep their history alive,
This chair had the privilege of being restored by you. 🌹
I love the gold material. It looks rich and expensive.
I could watch you carving details for the entire video.
You have no idea how happy I get when I see you appear on my list to watch! Because I know it will be entertaining during and sooooooo beautiful finishing. Thank you so very much for being you!
Wow, thanks!
Holy WOW!!! You seriously can do anything when it comes to furniture restoration. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My late father used to restore furniture guess that’s where my love of this subject comes from ….but you are in a class all of your own ..You are simply brilliant !
I love your choice of juxtaposing colours yet which retain warmth and welcome.
Incredible carpentry and upholstery work. I have no words, Master.
Greetings Master!
There was an original chair, but now it has become a royal one!
Years of hard work, you make it look so easy! you are such a talented craftsman.
Calling iccupant of interplanetary craft. You have brought your great skills to us unworthy earthlings. Please stay & keep using your otherworldly skills😊
Your family must be very proud of you mr AT... 👍🎓
I would go a step further from calling you a "craftsman" to calling you an "artist". Art takes many forms - some paint, some sculpt, and you restore. You have obvious passion for your work and it shows in the finished product. I am so amazed!
I never get tired of watching your videos. Your talent and artistry are amazing. And I love your sense of humor 😜
I have been attempting to match the stain of the trim in my 70s home. There is a shelf of stain failures mocking me in the garage. After seeing your effortless success I've determined it must take years of practice so I have to keep going, not give up.
Watching your restorations help me appreciate truly classic craftmanship and style. Amazing restoration! Thank you!
W O W !!!!! Took my breathe away with the beauty of your finished product. Absolutely lovely.
Took me back down memory lane to when I was an upholster , amazing job you did on chair ...
I,ve only been watching your videos for a short time. But in every video I learn something new. You are the master of matching colors.
A masterclass on restoration. A pleasure to watch.
You are my favorite restoration artist. Your attention to detail in all aspects of repair is exquisite.
Your work on this chair was perfection. Thank you for giving a beautiful new life to this old and (formerly) sad piece.
And he is the Michel Angelo of furniture restoration . A Master Craftsman doing what he likes to do !! A Perfectionist who Loves His Work !! ❤❤❤😊😊😊
your woodworking is amazing and your upholstery skills are even better

This chair is fit enough for Darth Vader to use as his Throne !
Very nicely refurbished. A lot of special skills used as well. Thumbs Up!
Ahti
The work you did on that handle was amazing. You recreated it perfectly. Moreover the upholstery work that was true to its age was awesome.
While I get the "Out-of-this-world" sentiment, I would focus on the very human skills, experience, and dedication to excellence and the art of restoration we see here in such abundance. Bravo! and Thanks.
You seriously should work for a museum in restoration. Amazing work!
I love that you can show me all of the older upholstery tricks that they don’t use now that they have foam.
You're an amazing craftsman. I bet you could singlehandedly construct any sort of furniture possible.
A thousand dollar clamps makes a millian dollar. Chair. (well done sir). 👍🙌
I really enjoy watching a master craftsman at work and you are a master.
You are amazing! You do the work like nobody I've ever seen!
What beautiful craftsmanship to recreate the details of this chair. Another excellent video!

Your workmanship is utterly amazing. I have an antique Louis XV armchair I've been meaning to restore (and it's in really good condition for its age) and you sir have inspired me!
Unbelievably STUNNING restoration! I think this may be your best ever. The carving😱, stain matching, then the seat repair and reupholstery🤯!! Your mastery knows no bounds. Exceptional job, Ahti and stay safe.💜

What a beautiful chair! Your work is impeccable. I enjoy sipping tea and looking closely at the work on the wood, but I love particularly watching your skill at pinning and sewing the accent layers. You are such a talented restorative artist. I can’t believe how well this chair came back from the “dogs” to such beauty under your hands. You did such an amazing job carving a new medallion. Thank you for sharing the old style of using traditional methods of the day.
