Such a sad yet realistic ending, it’s truly painful meeting then loosing your soulmate at a young age I’ve been there nothings ever as special as that one
maeve’s letter feels like it’s not just a goodbye and gratitude letter to otis, but it’s a letter from the show to the fans, and also from the fans to the show. it could work both ways. the final “dickhead” is the most soft she ever said and sounds like she tears up a bit. emma probably felt so sad after narrating the letter. who knows that a word like “dickhead” could be so emotional and nostalgic at the same time, only this show can make it feel like that. damn, this show really makes me feel like i’m saying goodbye to a 10 seasons long sitcom, when it’s just 4 seasons. like it’s not even that long ago that this show debuted for the first time, this show is just so good to leave us like this. the drone shot still got me though. like it’s literally the fucking end of the show, no more new season, no more continuous storyline and plot, no more these characters coming around again, no more the fictional town in england/wales moordale, just no more sex education. the song choice is amazing though, it really feels emotional and nostalgic. aretha franklin’s version of let it be is so underrated but so good, sex ed really has good ears. i’m gonna watch this video for lots of time just to feel the nostalgic feelings again. thanks for uploading.
This was such a a solid ending. I don’t know why people hated it. Maeve leaving moordale and chasing her dreams was the best ending to her character. And Otis finally “growing up” and living his life without having it tired to Maeve was most ideal. It was a solid ending. Optimistic in a way. I’m happy with this!
@@djman5667 same!! Not everything has to be a movie ending. Everyone (at least the majority of the cast) got endings that would help them grow the most. In Otis staying with someone & Maeve staying in moordale it would’ve been a disservice to them both since Otis completely loses himself in his romantic relationships & Maeve .. deserves to have a good stable future chasing her artistic dreams. Sometimes we don’t get the person but we gain ourselves .. which in my opinion is SO MUCH BETTER!
@@crystalcastillo7575the problem is that this ending is similar to that of season 3. Only that the see you soon turned to goodbye. So basically my problem is that this whole season was unnecessary. They could just made some more episodes in season 3 and to end this in this way.
I loved this ending. Season 4 as a whole was a wonderful season about healing and growing. Seeing Otis and Maeve move on, Aimee healing from her trauma, Eric finding his calling and Adam being more open with his sexuality and reconciling with his father really wrapped the story up in a wonderful bow. The development each character went through was really wonderful to watch.
@@krashd I think you misinterpreted what I said. I said the ending was good. Is the overall season that was mediocre. Honestly this season should have never existed. Season 3 should have been the end of the show with the same ending we saw in season 4
As you may have noticed, this is a nod to the final episode of season 1 where it was the other way around, Otis gave an emotional letter to maeve. This time it's a thank you letter to otis for all the things he did for her through all these years. It may be a heart-crushing ending but it was sensible for both of them. It was the only way for them to move forward in life.
Which signifies how great this show was in the end. No cliches, not the usual stuff you'd expect. Keeping it real AND a bit like a fairy tale, that was what made this show so special. So ... a sad ending and a good one at the same time.
didn't you feel sad? i also liked the ending but i feel all the things that happened between these two were for nothing but not at all, idk, it's hard to explain pal
@@rubensalgado5292Sometimes endings that make us sad doesn’t necessarily mean they are bad endings. We fans wanted to see them together so much that this ending caught us off guard. Yeah me personally I was sad. However after some time I realized that this was the perfect closure for them. They both helped each other mature and grow. They will reconnect in the future. The creator of the show said that 10 years later they are married and boring. She said that jokingly but I think after 4-5 years will get a movie about them. And it would be an adult Otis and Maeve this time so there won’t be any problem with the actors playing the adult Otis and Maeve.
very sad ending, but best for both of the characters in the future. They are so young, the first one always hurts but it’s just another part of the journey.
Im unbelievably sad this is ending, but it feels right. And what an ending it was, i am forever otis and maeve though. Im gonna miss this series, however, we have to just let it be. 🥺
What annoys me is how unoriginal this letter is. While the wordplay is rather different, it basically says exactly what Adam's letter to Eric says in Season 3. Not only did we get any real Maeve/Otis time this season, even their ending was bloody stolen from another relationship. I'm not against Maeve going to America and Otis continuing his life without her for a time, but jesus fuck would it have killed them to give them some time together without unneccessary drama, and a proper goodbye? 4 Seasons and these two have never been given even a moment to just be Maeve and Otis, even in her final goodbye, and that's why this feels unsatisfying. Their date wasn't a date because of his aunt, their sex was delayed due to Otis issues that came completely out of left field (His guilt over Ruby makes sense, the seeing his mum thing did not. Wasn't even touched on during earlier seasons.) They finally get there, have a beautiful first time together, then Maeve leaves and talks to Aimee & Isaac like she'd come back to see them as they're the only family she's got. (Apparently not Otis.) & leaves a letter stolen from earlier in the show. Their little time left together deserved so much more love and attention, and it didn't get it. It's disheartening & unsatisfying.
The showrunner herself even confirmed it in an interview that they'll probably see each other again in 10 years from now! EDIT: The more I think about what she says tho, she does say that they "might/probably"! But not for certain! There is a reason why she doesn't include some form of post credit scene where Otis & Maeve are together again! It's mainly for the audience to decide themselves on whether they reunite or move on from each other.
It’s because the story was dragged out way too long for them to be together without in the end being together, it’s not a surprise. Dragging their romance for so long to happen only for them to end up like that it didn’t work out well. I think this ending would have been way better if they wrapped the whole thing up with season 3.
Mayb this ending looks good. But overall the season was not. I think the show lost its magic by end of season 2. There was something about the first two season that we never saw again in last two seasons.. Mayb it was the heavy dose of ezra furman songs , mayb the acting was better. I dont know something felt missing from s3. And the last season didnt even feel like the old show that i fell in love with.. I heard the entire crew who made the show was changed. Mayb thats why.
