loved the show. I for one would love to see more content like this during the cold winter months in Canada while my bike is parked under a blanket in the garage. *sadface*
Hey. Love your videos. Quick question. 2024 790 adventure or 22 890 adventure R? Doing the TAT next year. Proficient single track rider. 6’1 220 lbs rider.
Excellent movie! This is my favorite type of video despite how valuable I find your other content. You can get aspen recordings for sleep or meditation BTW. Just search it. 😊
Lived in Durango from 2019 - 2024 and loved all these places in my 4Runner, GX 470 and the last year my Himalayan 411. Nice seeing them all over again.
I live in Colorado, 65 now but to disabled to do Enduro Jeep Rhodes anymore, how I miss it. you're doing a fantastic job with your videos. Hoping I can get out again, how I love to meet people like you in this troubled world. You're a good man. I had to let go of all social life eight years ago. I really miss running with people like you. I was crying right there along with you…
This is an epoch film. Thank you. My '68 CB350 did not appreciate Million Dollar Highway because I was ignorant and didn't re-jet my carburator for high altitude. Modern motorcycles are the ticket for touring the Rockies! Yankee Boy Basin is not to be missed in the early summer. The wild flowers are incredible. Thanks again.
I once commented on a video done by Kyle Brotherson of The Dirtbike Channel, that Americans have the best off-road riding conditions in the world...after watching this I'm starting to think you also have the best road riding conditions in the world. Lucky guys and gals.
Having lived in Telluride for 30 years and now Ridgway for six years, this video showcases many of my go to neighborhood rides. It’s always a little fun and interesting to see and hear the outsider perspective and narration on my corner of the San Juans. I recognize every single shot before you tell us where it is, and occasionally mis-speak in the naming of things, which is to be expected. It would have been fun to run into you on the back roads here, and who knows, I may have passed you at some point😊 I had considered going to that dusty lizard, but having recently attended one in Moab and another near Ridgway, I opted out for that one. You made an interesting omission of showing Telluride, probably because of threatening weather, which doesn’t bother me, but you showcased Silverton and Ouray instead. Next time, you might remember not to miss Old Lime Creek Road , which is the historic alternate route to Coalbank Pass . It’s no more challenging than anything else you rode, but is quite fantastic , In the fall especially. Happy trails to you Ian !
This was a fun side of you to watch Ian. Great work and yes - more of this style of video would be excellent. As one of your fans I certainly enjoyed it and hopefully this will be a big winner re views for you too.
Dude! I’m impressed once again with your style of video. Love it. The best reviewer now what’s your goal just to take over the whole deal? Nice job. Great video and perspective.
I’ve been to Silverton 3 times. Twice with my Jeep and then again in 2020 with my KTM 450 EXC-F. I’ve trailered my Jeep and bike there when I’ve made the trip.
I basically did the same ride for 8 Days the third week of August 2024 it was fantastic. I really enjoyed watching this. I organized for about 8 months the trip. We had 31 of us from the Nebraska area.
Oh men, you brought back incredible memories from three decades ago riding a Honda XR600R in the mountains of Bolivia. This is inspiring, thanks a lot for sharing.
CHAMA!!! I used to do this ride from San Francisco and LA.... I would go up from Taos into Colorado and up through the mountains..... love that area during Fall!! Beautiful riding country 🤗🙏✨🌺
It is something to experience the beauty of Colorado. People talk about the Black Hills and the Appalachians, but nothing compares to the Rocky Mountains. The last week of September I made a trip to Colorado Springs and then went up Pikes Peak. It took me three days to get there from Illinois and three to get back on my old BMW R1200 but was well worth it. "To reach the top of the Rocky Mountains puts oneself in touch with the infinite." - unknown
My wife and I watched this last night and really enjoyed it. We rented a Jeep in Ouray when we were there in September. Beautiful part of the country. Hope you continue to make more content like this.
The best touring I ever experienced was between these towns. Setting up a home base hotel, then riding to daily destinations like Silverton and Durango was the treat of rides. I wish i could have spent more time exploring the area and even some off road ADV riding. Great job presenting this to us. Truly a thumbs up video.
I loved this film and I'd like to see more like it. Mountains and natural landscapes are my favorite thing and one of the main reasons why I started riding motorcycles
@BigRockMoto I really did. You could do more content like this and work in subtle reviews on the gear your wearing/using and the machine you're riding. I know that's a lot of work, but damn, that would be epic!
A great video Ian. Thank you. I rode the BDR on my loaded 2016 R1200GSA. Corkscrew Pass was an amazing roller-coaster ride, and Ophir pass (the hard way) was a one-time only for me. Super-tough to climb up on a big bike. Colorado is a surreal and beautiful state (well, the Western half anyway). Glad you enjoyed the tour, as I greatly enjoyed watching it. You have THE best motorcycle content channel on UA-cam, thank you so much!
Such a beautiful area. Rode my CRF450RL all around there last year. Silverton is such a great town. I even took a train ride from Durango to Cascade canyon.
Great video! Thank you for the movie format. It is a great alternative to your normal content and just awesome to see what we can do with all the great dual sport and adventure motorcycles you review!
I have Jeeped in this area for about 30 years. Wish it was not so far away for me to take my motorcycle. I have been in all 50 states, Mexico and Canada and there is no more awesome area in my opinion. Ian, I will be riding in your home area tomorrow. I always hope I will see you on the road.
I live in Lake City. Hope you can visit our part of the San Juans next time. This style of video, that promotes taking in the natural wonder, without the jackery so common on youtube is greatly appreciated. I ride a KLX 250 and enjoy watching your channel, for insight into what my next ride(s) might be.
Me and a couple of my buddies used to ride this area every year back in the 1990s on air head BMW GSs or Enduro bikes. It was far less crowded and a lot less bone heads on the passes. I've heard it get's really busy these days.
Hermosa película. Preciosa zona. Un lugar que me encantaría poder recorrer. En Argentina hay lugares parecidos, especialmente al sur, en la zona Bariloche. Saludos desde el Norte de Argentina 🇦🇷.
I absolutely love Colorado. I live in Arkansas. And it’s beautiful in its own way. But it doesn’t compare to the Rocky Mountains. I just bought a new DR 650. Just to make this trek. I can’t wait. Thank you for sharing this.
tbh it's the first time I just want to thank you for the stunning images and not for the sole content so, thank you for sharing this beautiful sceneries.
That is one epic ride. Thank you for sharing this great experience what beautiful views Colorado has, great history, you have the perfect bike to ride on of course glad you were able to make it to that summit. Thanks for the adventure always looking forward to next video.
Fantastic video! My wife and I had dinner with you one evening at the Mosko Moto event and I've been looking for this video ever since. You did an incredible job and I would love to see more content like this. Well done!
I just finished a 13 day tour through Italy Spain Rome and Croatia, with my wife. I would have loved to do this instead! So jealous! Lol your the best!
Thanks for sharing. I know the area well and enjoyed reliving it. My wife has run (yes run) the Imogene Pass race that goes from Ouray to Telluride more than a dozen times.
Incredible Video! I’ve ridden all those passes over the last 20 yrs., prolly bout 15 times! Mostly on my XR 650 R- the “Dominator”! A few times on a WR 450 Yamaha. Colorado Delivers!!!
Awesome Video! I just rode the million dollar highway last month on my Cross Country tour from KY to CA and back on my 24’ 790ADV. The San Juan mountains were one of the highlights of the trip. Such a beautiful area.
Now Australia is a beautiful place (please come and visit 😊) but you have something very special there! Great video! Tourism Colorado should be paying you!
Hello Ian,I really enjoyed your visit to the San Jaun mountains, I lived in Telluride for a year when I was 18yrs old(46 yrs ago),ive seen some things, truly amazing place, and your right about the Aspen trees, nothing like them,1st bank Butch and Sundance robbed was in Telluride, thanks for sharing your adventures with us 😉
Love that area. I agree, I don’t feel the million dollar hwy is dangerous. I will say it is somewhat scarier in my pickup compared to riding a motorcycle on it. Good video
Thanks for this amazing video, Ian! The last video you did on the history of an area was already very interesting. This one is even better. I really enjoy learning about some of those great places. Maybe one day I make it back to the US and get to see these areas as well. I have been to Zion and Bryce Canyon, which were amazing, but with the intention of riding a bike, I would realy love to explore that area as well.
Ian this was the best video you’ve done to date. The videography, commentary, and background music were spot on. Including the history of this beautiful part of Colorado was much appreciated. Was a very enjoyable watch. An awesome effort!
Awesome video, Ian. I've driven 550 through the San Juan range a few times, and I'm impressed that you were able to narrate your ride while managing to focus on the ride at the same time. That entire route is just so stunningly gorgeous everywhere you look, it gave me A.D.D. while I was driving it.
Ian, I am a subscriber due to your cut the crap reviews of adv bikes and products. Love my new setup. 24 Africa twin and mosko moto recless 80. I must say very impressed with this video. I was out there 40 years ago and took the steam train from Durango to Silverton. I was super stoked to watch this especially with your motorcycle abilities and your emotional top of the pass reaction. You're a good man bruddah! Thanks for the ride along. Stay cool.
just did COBDR with my T7 and we also did extra passes like imogene and most of blackbear that wasn't shutdown. we did imogene the opposite of you and it looked very intimdating but honestly didn't have much problem. was overheating rear brake a little on the decent into telluride until we hit the mining area and let it cooldown. San juan mountains are epic for sure we spent a few extra days in the red mountain/silverton/telluride area
Ian: 1. Holy smokes this is killer stuff! so well done. 2. Welcome back to Team690, we're happy to have you. This is the sweet spot for this bike for sure... I see the Veridan cruise on there!
what you called a glacial pond is the beginning of a Cirque lake from the head of the glacier holding into the top or side of the mountain. They can become quite large over time.
Thanks for doing this Ian, more please ... On the US part of my round the world trip this was one of the places I wanted to visit but, due to visa constraints, visiting friends/family and also needing to get to Prudhoe Bay before the weather got really shitty I missed out on a lot of places, all I saw of Colorado was highway doing an Iron Butt from a friends place in Utah to my brothers place in Indiana ... Now I need to go back and do it :-)
Nice work Ian - really enjoyed the change of pace. You know you could take this channel where you wanted to and we would happily follow. I love Colorado too and would love to get back there on a bike.
Just South of Rico, you can run Scotch Creek Road (NF-550) up to Hermosa Park Rd, and then go North where it comes back out North of Rico or East where you came up from Purgatory. Scotch Creek was exceptionally challenging when I first did it back in 2005 on an 02 R1150 GS.
Also, Last Dollar Highway starts up by the airport in Telluride and comes out on CO 62 South of Ridgeway. It has a few small challenging sections, but most of it is easy. I recently did that with my son. He was on a 2020 KTM 390 Adv and I was on my 17 R1200 GS Rallye. Very scenic.
Thanks Ian for putting this awesome video together . Maybe we went through a dark tunnel on our history but at the end of this tunnel there is a light and that is our public land and yes they took the gold but they left our treasure 🌳 🏡 🌲 🎄 Cheers!
Beautiful film, can’t thank you enough for producing it! Glad you had such an amazing trip! This really captures Colorado so well. I got a chance to base out of Rico recently and ride trails like calico and I have never seen anything that spectacular!
That was great! I come from the Texas "hill country" where the hills are measured in tens or hundreds of feet. I couldn't do those passes, especially not alone. I was getting short of breath watching your video! Yes, more videos like this. I watched it all the way through before I even realized it was over an hour in length.
I hope you enjoyed my film! Please let me know if you'd like to see more content like this ?

REAL MEN SHOW EMOTIONS! That moment at Imogene Pass was awesome. What a great journey. Thanks for sharing!!
loved the show. I for one would love to see more content like this during the cold winter months in Canada while my bike is parked under a blanket in the garage. *sadface*

I have to say - I am soooo glad, it's not a KTM or Husky, but the GG... supporting Spain - nice... no orange - nice ... I dunno - I like it :)
Please please please keep making this style of documentary motorcycle videos Ian… I could just sit for hours watching these films
Thank you
0:30 0:30 0:30 0:31 0:32
given the length, you will have to sit for hours. Seriously though, I enjoy these a lot too!
More of this please!!...there's only so many tech spec and TFT dash features videos you can watch!!😁👍
I feel the same way about making the videos too. :)
Loving some Big Rock storytelling!
One of the most beautiful places on Earth (and I've been around... ). I miss the San Juans so much.
Doing it by yourself is why it is so meaningful. Good work!
Lived in Durango from 2019 - 2024 and loved all these places in my 4Runner, GX 470 and the last year my Himalayan 411. Nice seeing them all over again.
This was a most enjoyable video 📹.
Thank you very much.
I was crying right there along with you…
Yes! Definitely more content like this!
I love how authentic your videos are. It gives me confidence to get up there next year and ride those passes.
You can do it!
I had the same problem with my DRZ 400 back in 2010. A few years later I vowed I’d go back when I had a FI bike. I finally made it happen in 2020.
I once commented on a video done by Kyle Brotherson of The Dirtbike Channel, that Americans have the best off-road riding conditions in the world...after watching this I'm starting to think you also have the best road riding conditions in the world. Lucky guys and gals.
“ It almost makes you want to take a nap”. I was thinking the same thing right when you said that. Great video Ian. Yes, more please 👍
Thanks 👍
Nice job. Great video and perspective.
total world domination... of course. ;)
Wow, what a ride! Love the drone shots!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve been to Silverton 3 times. Twice with my Jeep and then again in 2020 with my KTM 450 EXC-F. I’ve trailered my Jeep and bike there when I’ve made the trip.
Absolutely beautiful, awesome great and extremely well shot, edited produced video.... ad are all of yours. Nice soundtrack too 🎶😊🙏🌴
I basically did the same ride for 8 Days the third week of August 2024 it was fantastic.
I really enjoyed watching this.
I organized for about 8 months the trip. We had 31 of us from the Nebraska area.
That's awesome!
Oh men, you brought back incredible memories from three decades ago riding a Honda XR600R in the mountains of Bolivia. This is inspiring, thanks a lot for sharing.

Awesome, thank you!
Well done, Ian. This type of content is a moneymaker. Keep it going. I enjoyed every minute and I hope you do more. 👌

Such a beautiful area. Rode my CRF450RL all around there last year. Silverton is such a great town. I even took a train ride from Durango to Cascade canyon.
Love this content! I was just in that area for the West38 level 3 training and ride! It’s amazing!
That's awesome!
I was there in mid July and it was FANTASTIC. What a beautiful area.
It really is!
Great video! Thank you for the movie format. It is a great alternative to your normal content and just awesome to see what we can do with all the great dual sport and adventure motorcycles you review!
This rally was so fun, and the area just stunning. I did red mountain, last dollar, and bolum pass. So many times had to stop to just take it in.

Thanks for such a great video and educating us on how real touring is really done!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Was just there again 3 weeks ago. My favorite place!
tbh it's the first time I just want to thank you for the stunning images and not for the sole content so, thank you for sharing this beautiful sceneries.

Well done video. More like this. I liked it a lot.
Thanks, will do!
What a beautiful ride, Ian, and how well you portrayed it. Thank you.
I just finished a 13 day tour through Italy Spain Rome and Croatia, with my wife. I would have loved to do this instead! So jealous! Lol your the best!
Oh, this is so good! I feel like I'm watching a Ken Burns documentary about great motorcycle tours.
Wow, thanks!
Great video, with a bit of local history thrown in for educational value! Youve struck gold with this format. More please.
Thanks for sharing. I know the area well and enjoyed reliving it. My wife has run (yes run) the Imogene Pass race that goes from Ouray to Telluride more than a dozen times.
Thank you, Ian this was such an informative and enjoyable piece of film.
Go well, Sir
Bravo bro, well done. You have a new calling.
Much appreciated
Incredible Video! I’ve ridden all those passes over the last 20 yrs., prolly bout 15 times! Mostly on my XR 650 R- the “Dominator”! A few times on a WR 450 Yamaha. Colorado Delivers!!!

You bet!
@@BigRockMoto Loved the cinematography and the video and sound quality is excellent. Great story and I want to do a similar adventure. Thanks Ian.
Awesome Video! I just rode the million dollar highway last month on my Cross Country tour from KY to CA and back on my 24’ 790ADV. The San Juan mountains were one of the highlights of the trip. Such a beautiful area.

What a great video story! So much information, thanks so much.
Really enjoyed this video. Nicely done videography & history lesson. Thanks for having mellow music too.
Congrats Ian! Epic ride, keep it up you inspire us all!
Great drone footage, love the high passes, and the history lesson. Highest peak where I live is 535 m. Garth
Love that area. I agree, I don’t feel the million dollar hwy is dangerous. I will say it is somewhat scarier in my pickup compared to riding a motorcycle on it. Good video
It took me a while to get through the video, but it was very inspirational!!!

what you called a glacial pond is the beginning of a Cirque lake from the head of the glacier holding into the top or side of the mountain. They can become quite large over time.
From Australia, thank you.
Such and awesome video.
This format works great for your channel. Love the content!!🤩
Now I need to go back and do it :-)
OMG!!! This was awesome! Thank you for sharing this!
Lot of work went to create that wonderful documentary, thnx V!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful
Maybe we went through a dark tunnel on our history but at the end of this tunnel there is a light and that is our public land and yes they took the gold but they left our treasure 🌳 🏡 🌲 🎄
Cheers!
Beautiful film, can’t thank you enough for producing it! Glad you had such an amazing trip! This really captures Colorado so well. I got a chance to base out of Rico recently and ride trails like calico and I have never seen anything that spectacular!
Such an amazing area. Fantastic riding. Did Ouray to Durango section this summer. Thanks for the vid and history lesson!
Excellent effort! Love to see more of this type of doco from you Ian, nice adjunct to your road testing.
Bring it on!.....cheers!
More to come!
That was great! I come from the Texas "hill country" where the hills are measured in tens or hundreds of feet. I couldn't do those passes, especially not alone. I was getting short of breath watching your video! Yes, more videos like this. I watched it all the way through before I even realized it was over an hour in length.
thanks for watching
