In the first week of pandemic lockdown our studio lockup burnt down. We decided to use our destroyed instruments one last time before we threw them out, filming ourselves and each other. Violent Sun is about desperately holding on to the moment before it passes forever.

This new album is absolute fire
There’s no feeling that compares to listening to new Everything Everything music for the first time.

This song was actually different for me. I enjoyed the video more than the song the first time around, but when I found myself humming the chorus melody at work the next day I realized I should give it another listen. It crept up on me and now its been stuck in my head for the last week solid.

What would you say underrated they have been widely critically acclaimed. Their work has twice been shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize and has received five nominations for Ivor Novello Awards. Anyway great taste and I agree 10/10

I love EE dearly, but it's rare that one of their songs ever feels really positively uplifting like this one. Love it.
Yeah it’s kind of unconventionally uplifting for EE. Almost gives me some Absolution Muse vibes in the chorus.
I'd take a closer look at the lyrics. I'm not always the best at deciphering them, but this seems like it's upbeat to juxtapose with something a little messed up.

lily taylor lily taylor. Bbc radio rang Jon to do an interview. He was in Morrisons at the time, so he stepped outside to talk. shop security thought he’d stolen, so for the initial part of the radio interview Jon’s with the guard. Robbie’s comment is a nod towards that incident (I think)
I'm not gonna lie. I've been losing my hair since I was in High School and have recently had to resort to going completely bald at 22.
Seeing Bald Jon has made that change all the easier.
This is it. The perfect song. It says everything important about life.
Capping off a nearly perfect album which should be album of the year.
This has become my favorite song possibly ever already. Nothing has hit me like this since Radiohead first clicked with me.

Everything Everything has been my favorite band since I discovered Man Alive when it was their only album. But I'm generally terrible about keeping up with music news and recent music and such. I had no idea that the band suffered a studio fire before recording this album. The presence of those burned instruments in this video, getting one last hurrah before their funeral makes this song even more impactful to me. Somehow its perfect. I'm sorry for the fire and all the stress it must have caused, but thank for turning it into such a beautiful and impactful artistic statement. I'm not sure if you wrote the song because of the experience, or if the coincidence was just that perfect, but it all resonates with me immensely.

This is a cracking track! Very powerful and feels like a classic alt-rock track from the late 80s I've somehow overlooked.

Hearing this song as I spent years trying to figure out what the fuck was wrong with me make me tear up. It turns out I may simply have problems with food, allergies or I'm not quite sure but heck something bad enough to start destroying me from the inside... I'm ways too familiar with going to bed and feeling like I hated everyone. Stuck with migraines that ravaged my psyche and make my sense of self explode on several occasions. So yeah, there's something really heartwarming in hearing a song that mention a sort of "unconditional love"... Like knowing there are people which are going to be there when the wave hits again.
Thankfully they won't hit soon for me (I partly know what's up) but I hope this song bring comfort to people in similar situations.

Well, it's like falling in love with EE all over again. I honestly find it hard to think of any other music act I've been into that so thoroughly combines being deep and imaginative with just being out-and-out banging!

Somehow this song reminds me of personal loss and calls out more fear of loss and then somehow makes me feel that still, with all these losses, everything will be fine. A bittersweet happy song.

ive gotten into this band just last year and now theyre one of my favorites. this is the release of 2020 that im looking forward to the most and so far not one song has disappointed me. also putting out in birdsong first was such an iconic choice

frenchkjfan9 Been a decade since I first heard his voice and I've never thought of him as sounding like anyone! There's a flavour overall of those two bands, I'll give you that. They like the subdominant minor. :)
