I remember this game a 12 - 3 beat down by the Jets then 2 days later the Nordiques returning the favor winning the Avco Cup beating the Jets at home 8 - 1. Loved those years in the WHA some memorable times.

The Stanley Cup Finals ended on May 14, leaving several days open for CBC to broadcast games from the Avco World Trophy Finals. They were among, and I think the last, of the very few WHA games ever telecast by CBC.

About ten years ago, NHL players’ shifts were reduced to about 45 seconds which allowed them to skate full tilt.
Recently, I’ve noticed many NHL players are approaching shift durations of a minute and a half (some even longer); consequently, they cannot go full tilt.
