This is literally the only good piano cover of this song I can find, and it's old. Anyway great work, it nearly mimics the live recording.

Well,it is really a tradicional song, first recorded by Leadbelly in 1944; but this dark version is Kurt in his most pure last condition.
I am stumped.
Nirvana has been one of my favorite bands and when Vk plays nirvana pieces ... She totally blows me away.
Piano is really a very majestic instrument and the way she plays it, as if she has blended into the piano.

THE BEST VERSION OF WHERE DID YOU SLEEP LAST NIGHT - PIANO
The story goes that they were meant to do an encore (and it was outright demanded that they do one) but after finishing this song Kurt decided that anything they did next would be an anticlimax so he refused.
They had a lot of time left so they were asking the crowd for request. The crowd said nothing good and thats when Kurt said the lovely line "Fuck you all this is the last song of the evening."
Wow!! This song is a vocal extravaganza/nightmare. Never thought that could be interpreted on the keys!

***** True. Lead Belly recorded so many folk songs that have been re-recorded afterward by other artists. Very popular songs, and people have no clue they're covers. To me, the most surprising was "Black Betty".
I would say it's a cover of the Nirvana version of the song.
