Maverick is a classic 1950s/60s TV series starring James Garner as Bret Maverick, a traveling poker player and swindler. Garner is reviving his role here in the movie...although very cleverly we're lead to believe Mel is "Bret" until the very end, lol. He is Bret Jr. Instead. A nice way to pay homage to the show and the character.
Jimmy Garner had charisma to spare! My parents watched Maverick back in the day, and then we all watched The Rockford Files together. Another gem is Murphy’s Romance!

PS if you want to see good movie try Space movie The Right Stuff...about astronauts....my Dad & the guys he worked with made the glass for the 1st window in a space capsule..I was SO happy to show Dad that movie...there's a part where the astronauts said they want a window...my Dad jumped from chair & yelled We made that!!! It was him & his crew, most from the guys he worked with from Country's I told you about...❤❤
1:42 You caught that also. Vilmos Zsigmond. I have a trivia question. What movie allowed Zsigmond to get his union card, (but may not have been his first movie)? "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies." 1964

One of my favorites! I use to watch Maverick the series with James Garner. So it was a pleasure to see him on the remake.
James Garner is my favorite actor.

The Poker tournament features actors that were in the numberless TV westerns in the 50 and 60's.
Not only was that Danny Glover, but _a lot_ of the same people made the Lethal Weapon movies including director Dicky Donner.
I agree with you. Great, fun movie. Loved all the characters.
Take your hat off, son. That's a hundred dollar bill! 😂

12:02 I believe that Yakima Canutt was the first to use this stunt in film.
You should watch "Far And Away"
9:36 It was the chair.
16:41 Margot Kidder is the women screen left.
Another great comedy on the theme of the cheater being cheated on is "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"
10:26 Writing for me makes a movie.
What happened to the focus at the end?
