@Miken2341 If you're using the MS-D11 AA batteries holder, you will see that it's printed white. The EN-EL15 holder is printed in green. Hope that clears your doubt
I know this was several years ago... however for anyone that has an experience like this on Amazon... they have kick ass customer protection. You have several months (3 or 4) to get your money back if you get scammed or have a defective unit on any product you buy from Amazon.com. I bought a D7000 from a 3rd party seller and I never uploaded a video I just checked the little screen on the back... well it had a cluster of hot pixels right in the center on the frame in video mode. Not visable on the back of the camera ... you had to upload it onto a computer to see them. Anyhow it had been almost 4 months and Amazon forced the seller to refund my money ... they shorted me $100 for a restocking fee.... Amazon made up the difference and I got a FULL refund. Awesome customer support. Buy on Amazon with confidence... they really do rock.
Wow this must be a sign! Been on Ebay for the last couple nights looking for a D7000 battery grip... Low and behold I come on UA-cam tonight and I see this on my subscription feed. Very informative as I was this close to buying one of those!!
I love the Neewer brand! They take the extremely over priced nikon equipment (such as grips) and make then almost as good and sell for many times cheaper!
I’m working in Beijing China for the time being and purchased an amazing fake for 30 bucks. It's similar to the one is the video, except all functions preform properly! The screw mount is tight; it mounts well on my D7000 and makes no noises when shooting. No way would I spend 250 bucks on a real one! It’s just not worth the cash. I just bought my battery grip about a week ago; I guess the fakes have improved since this video has been posted.
I bought a Nikon D5000 battery on eBay for $5, I recall. At that price, I am pretty sure it must be a fake. It arrived and it looks, fits and operates just fine. Except, when finished charging the LED suppose to stay ON, this one stays OFF. The total charge time is about ¼ of the normal. The battery life is about ¼ and the price is also about ¼. Conclusion? I could live with that ¼ of everything. ½ or more would be better and I wish they labeled it as 3rd party maker.
thanks for the information! that is why i buy my high dollar gear from solid online dealers like b&h and adorama. my friend from china said they copy everything and have no second thoughts about placing branding all over subpar equipment.
Thank you.. this saved me. I'm going to wait for the grip to come back in stock at B&H and I'll buy it there.. just so I know I'm getting a real Nikon grip.
Good stuff, bought similar for D5100 £19 (Meike..advertised as Neewer) came in Meike box so no deception. Good for what it is, used for time lapse only to hold extra battery, would not trust it with a Rapid strap though!
hello and thank you for your informative video. i bought the meike mk- d7000 grip as well. but i knew it was an immitation. the problem that i have run across with this grip, is that it causes my nikon d7000 led to go haywire, when ever i am using the grip with the camera. i paid about 50 bucks for the grip , and i got what i paid for.
But it's not like a fake SD card which just don't work. The funny thing i have fake battery for my D300 and it works better than my original of similar age.
I got conned too when I bought a counterfeit MB-D10 for a D300S. Nikon have issued this notice warning people because using a fake can compromise the camera's electronics ... See nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/49662#MB-D10
The same thing just happened to me. Bought a grip for 225$ off Amazon from a seller called Camaccessory who said they had bought it from Global Camera (HK). It had official Nikon branding all over it. I would super pissed off if not for the fact that I am getting a refund which I will put towards buying the real grip from my local store.

He is ICHIRO?
Is the fake one made of plastic? A genuine MB-D11 body is made of Magnesium alloy just like the D7000.......
Does anyone know if the real battery grip has the same shutter button as the D7000. I have the Neewer grip but I hate the plastic shutter button.
Thank you! I am planning on getting a battery grip for my D7000 soon and will be really careful when I'm buying it.
impressive imitation ... "FStopper" you are so great..thx !!!

DAMN!, Ive heard of some fakes but this one tops the cake.
I would also imagine the fake is not weather sealed and is also not made out of injection molded magnesium like the Nikon one is.
@gabrielhelfant yes.

I had similar issues with the grip for my Canon 5D mkII. Tricky...!

+glenny oc Thats hilarious man!
Damn, such lengths they go to to copy the real thing.
I wonder if Amazon made it rigth with you guys,( give money back and report the seller to Nikon)
Great video. Thank you.

I thought the fake was plastic and the NIKON was metal
I actually bought this on eBay thinking it was real but I only got it for aud$100 thank god I didn't buy it for $350

Why are you pronouncing Nikon wrong? It is 'knee-con'. Say it correctly for future. Thanks.
