Eight Things God Calls Mothers (ARBC Worship for 5.12.2024)

Good morning! And Happy Mother's Day. I hope you are finding this to be a good Lord’s Day. This morning, we need to look at eight things God calls mothers.
I do know this day is not always good. I came across a graphic that, in the middle, said, “Sending Mother’s Day Love to All.” Radiating out from that centerpiece were the following statements:
Those who are mothers
Those with good mother relationships
Those with difficult mother relationships
Mothers with difficult child relationships
Those who never had a mother
Those who wish to be mothers
Those who have lost mothers
Mothers who have lost children.
In this cursed and broken world, we see how challenging things can happen among the good--but that also good things can be brought out of the challenges. Though this is a holiday that came out of a desire for someone’s mother to be remembered, it soon became a national holiday that (to the dismay of the founder) became far too commercialized.
The Bible has much to say on the subject of motherhood. But so does the culture, who seem bent on taking away the nuclear family. We look at the Scriptures and then look at the families in our day and note that life seemed better when there was a mom and dad at home who loved each other and took care of business in their respective roles.
