    Awesome! I modded Big Blue with Sanwa sticks and loved them. I was a bit on the fence about swapping the buttons, but it looks like a super simple operation, no drilling is a major plus. thanks for the video man.

    Late to the party, but I got myself an Arcade1Up SSF2 Legacy and the factory joysticks actually felt horrible, so I wanted to replace em.
    Found your vid here on it, got in touch with the website you have in the description (since everything in A1Ups line seems random to me) and tomorrow I am getting harness and stick.

    Doing a mod on the buttons on my Yoga Flame. Sometimes my input doesn't register at all on the fierces, so I think the Sanwa buttons will help. Will see if the better joysticks in that cab are good enough in the long run, but may replace them with Sanwas too. Costing me about $50 CAD plus $25 shipping and the sales tax for the 12 buttons.

    Great video my dude. I've screwed up the direction on some sticks too. My rule now.....white plug always goes up. Another tip on the buttons. I just modded my big blue with them and learned I put the wires on the wrong prongs. I originally had it on top and bottom (I think like you?) and it felt like you needed to hold down the button for it to work. They work it's just the timing is off. Almost like a double switch. I think you should try putting on the top 2 (top and middle) and then do the selection button. I think you will notice a difference. Keep me posted.

    • @OfficeArcade
      @OfficeArcade  2 роки тому +1

      Haha yup I caught myself after I tested it. But didn’t want to make the video too long replugging it in. So the note I added where I talk about the switch and the button and how I put the first wire on the wrong prong will hopefully steer people right.
      I appreciate the catch!!! I’ll also make sure to demo it correctly when I do my round 2 Xmen vs street fighter mod video. And I’ll make mention of the correction.
      Thank you for watching. And thank you again for catching and sharing that!

    I realize you’re not the support channel for this, but I can’t find the best information when it comes to a1up modding.
    You made a text correction in your video to show that the wires should go on prongs 2 &3 of the cherry switch.
    Did you find that If you wire it like you originally had it in the visual demonstration that it was creating an in game reset?
    I’m trying to do this 1 button at a time (specifically player 2 button) so I can become more familiar with the replacement and control board layout. so far my install has resulted in the game being reset as though player 2 button is being held down.
    There’s no obstruction pressing the switch though.
    Thoughts?

      Yeah when I had them wired up incorrectly. The buttons couldn’t be activated or remained in an activated state permanently. So I had to wire them correctly so that they activated and then deactivated correctly.

Regarding the Sawa joystick swap, I noticed you mentioned to take the plate off of the Arcade1up stick and put it on TOP of the Sawa joystick plate but I'm wondering if what you meant was to swap the them instead of stacking one on top of another? It should! They use the same control boards. I’m just not sure how far the buttons are from the controller PCB. So I’d be mindful of wire length.
      If you get Sanwas which can connect up to the existing arcade1up wires, then you are golden.
      If you swap sticks you’ll have to make sure you get cables long enough for the swap or you’ll have to splice cables (which I’m personally not a fan of but most people don’t mind).

      I mean after playing on Sanwa's since the first TE from MadCatz came out, I always prefer to go to Sanwa stick and Sanwa buttons. Even my main 3 fight sticks for non-arcade gaming are all Victrix sticks which are made with all Sanwa parts (very cool sticks if you haven't seen them).
      So personally, and after testing, the Sanwa stick with Sanwa buttons ended up being my favorite combo.
      These buttons in this video are American style IL imitations. They are super nice buttons and folks who like a firm click love them. But for me, they were too firm for short link windows in some of these older games. So in my 4th video in this series (posted it like a week ago?), I ended up going with Sanwa for player 1.

    Nice! I wonder if these sticks would give me the spring action I’m looking for? I replaced my tension springs with 4lb springs thinking it would allow me to do the classic raiden moves easier. Although the 4lb feels much nicer than the stock springs it still doesn’t spring back fast enough. I liked the original arcade feel where I could hit down and let off to let the joystick spring upward on it own to do the raiden teleport or same thing with the flying torpedo move by hitting back twice and letting go to allow the stick to spring forward on its own. I feel like I could do it maybe 20% of the time with the stock springs but now it’s like less than 5% with the 4 lb:/ it almost has the opposite effect I was going for because they’re so stiff. I hope this makes sense lol. Any chance you could test the theory for me on your MK machine with these sticks? If you’ve modded your MK that is. Wouldn’t expect you to take it all apart just to try this haha. Anyway nice video and have a good day!

      What about the joystick they give a couple different options? Also do I need to purchase new wires for that? If so the give a couple different options for that as well.
      Thank you so much for the help

      @@lacedup702 that one you do need new wires for. If it’s a newer cabinet you’ll want the latest gen sanwa. If you send me what cab you are upgrading and what options they list now, I can help you pick.

    Do you have to buy the cables for the buttons too or can you just use the stock ones?

    • @OfficeArcade
      @OfficeArcade  2 роки тому

      You can use the stock ones if you cut the cables and tie them together.
      I bought the cables since they were cheap and it would be a cleaner look.

    I hope you got everything “glued back” the way it was. That stuff is glued for a reason. Actually I don’t get it. I bought a Walmart display Turtles cab a year ago and sticks were destroyed so I replaced them all with sanwa. Try having to do 4 of them and all that glue lol.

      Depends on weather you are looking for heavy spring buttons or sanwa switch style buttons. I have another video I did after where I swap mine out for Sanwas.
