Do the ppl in the comments not realize that not all professional actors memorize their lines in advance. I distinctly remember hearing millie bobby brown n kit connor mention they prefer to learn them day of bc it lets them give a more natural delivery, n both of them are great actors whos performances are praised n who ive never heard a bad thing abt from the ppl they work with. Also as someone who, like renee, also has adhd i cant help but feel icky seeing ppl call her lazy for having a different approach n one that clearly worked since shes the cast member that has consistently been praised as the standout n only/one of the only good parts of the movie. Im not gonna out right say ppl r being ableist but us ppl with adhd are constantly called lazy for our different approaches that look like lack of care or effort to others, regardless of what the reality actually is, so it just doesnt sit right with me.
i feel like she was a lot more professional on mean girls broadway idk, like if you watch interviews from back then it’s nothing like the ‘no media training’ ones for the 2024 movie. maybe she was more cautious because it was her breakout role idk?

If her improvising scenes genuinely works and is done in a way that works well with her costars, then sure. But I have also seen the other hand of that where improvising and lack of memorization only trips everyone else up. Improvisation, if done poorly, can create a lot of chaos that just comes across as over the top. And in acting there gets to be a point where everyone needs to work as a team. If improvising can still accomplish that and get the job done well, then good. If it’s making things worse, then don’t do it.

i think the difference here is that renee has played this character backwards and forwards and knows it well. if there were changes or cuts that’s easy to memorize. and it’s not like she CANT memorize a script and stick to it. she was on sex lives of college girls before this movie and was on broadway where you very much need to stick to your lines and can do it. i think for this movie though she didn’t and felt like it was not needed.
She's very beautiful and has an amazing voice but her acting style is very "stage acting" and didn't work well on screen. But She's very young so I could see her being a fantastic actor if she keeps working on it.

I think if you’re unwilling to learn lines, maybe acting isn’t your calling. There’s improv groups for that, or maybe she could be a writer.
