I love how the French teacher also tried to follow Regins wet look trend, ik its a small little clip but i like to think it was just Ashley trying to go back into her original broadway character back in the days where she was the OG Gretchen, always following Reginas trends and just being another drone who works for her, then die
I know it’s bad, laughably in fact, but I kind of love how unhinged the face front closed in section of the song with Cady singing is. She looks crazy. If I picture her just being insane, the scene becomes a lot more enjoyable.
Yeah. I actually think they tried to make Cady look hilariously insane in that part. The main evidence is the candy cane girl being terrified of Cady, hands shaking and all. Most people just took it way too seriously.
she just really seems insane throughout the movie. like the way she creepily smiles here 6:47 and in stupid with love when we get the a break from fantasy and glimpse into reality, shes staring and breathing really hard. i really cant tell if it was purposeful
In musical logic usually the numbers exist outside of space and time. As in this is basically a manifestation of them plotting their revenge plan together…however the movie seemed to me that everyone is self-aware that they exist in a musical universe, so I think it could be looked at any way? Idk the musical makes more sense with its passage of time in the stage version
In musicals, songs usually do one of three things: move characters forward in time (which is what happening in this song), move characters forward in space, or reveal something about the characters' mental or emotional state.
I think that's also why they had the joke later on that broke the 4th wall. The one about apologizing for dragging during Revenge Party and how hard it is to progress the story through montage format haha
It’s like in the original movie when they interviewed him and he goes “I hear Regina George is dating Aaron Samuels again. The two were seen canoodling at Chris Eisel's Halloween party. They've been inseparable ever since.” 😂😂😂 like why is principal duval being interviewed 😂😂😂

Yeah, Angourie’s acting honestly makes up for singing. She isn’t a bad singer just that her vocals were very underwhelming for sure but her portrayal of Cady was still great, in my opinion
@@aphrodite._.4835 totally agree that the shot is definitely not a good choice. i myself was caught off guard when it suddenly got close to her face. but i was commenting on this film version of the viral part of her singing, to which i pointed out how it was a bit different from the version that got viral (studio) because of its emotionless delivery. specifically the line, "Regina needs to be toppled, sorry Gretchen I swear!" with regards to that, both are not great in comparison to the original, like you said it felt like she doesn't even mean it. yeah she's flat. but with only the two of her versions being played side by side, there will be one that shows a bit more "attempt" to show emotion and it's this one. It's not better as a whole nor the best performance in the film, but A BIT better than her studio version. (I want to emphasize on the word "bit", because the change is very very minimal).
