At the end of the day the Duster is built with the idea of going tougher places so I find it no surprise that it found this so easy, we own a 2019 model and even though it's only the 2wd version we still manage things that most modern suv's wouldn't even attempt. Great car!
I think you'd be surprised at the capability of the 2wd version, however, if you are looking to get a bit further off the beaten track the 4×4 is definitely worth it for the added grip as well as the features such as Hill decent control to make it that bit more comfortable when seriously off roading, but as a run around that occasionally goes down a slightly tougher track any model would be more than sufficient.
At diagonal spots, the Audi driver really tested the 4X4, he went slowly and just kept the accelerator on to see if the car could creap along, which he did. The Duster driver used momentum and in at least one case he went back a metre and just tried faster. In steep climbs the same happened, the lighter Duster used higher revs and speed showing off its angles and ground clearance whereas the Audi went slowly, testing its 4X4 system. When comparing off-road ability, the real challenge is not just tackling the same obstacles but how it's done. However, the overall performance of the two cars, not in this very limited test but after much broader research, is not very far apart. Hence, discounting factors such as prestige and considering pure value for money, it would be a hands down decision.

@@fkev4751 don't get me wrong, I'm actually impressed about how well the q5 managed the terrain. The duster is kind of expected to pass through everything considering the price and the willingness of an owner to thrash it a bit more.
Those comparisons are unequal. The Duster Driver hits the gas Pedal all the time meanwhile the Audi driver is just tipping on it. That's just one of my notes. My suggestion to you guys: Duster vs. Mercedes G Klasse in the canyons.
Agree with you men, audi drive slowly carefully with gas padel, he doesnt go back, slowly but always forward, but dacia drive hit gas to the floor, or go little back and try again with full gas
The duster costs one third of the price of the german, is twice better at off roading, much more discreet, lower insurance cost, lower maintenance cost, and a great reliability record ! Dacia are very very good daily vehicles.

Doua sisteme 4x4 total diferite. Duster are 4x4 "on demand" iar q5 are permanent. Problema pe care Duster o are este la diferențialul open spate, care lucrează normal, doar ca partea electronica " traction control" nu poate / nu este implementat sa mute torq-ul pe roata cu aderență. Adică sa blocheze ușor roată care pierde aderenta, astfel mutând cuplul pe roata opusa. Am observat ca pe puntea fata acest lucru funcționează.
chiar daca sunt diferite, la incrucisari ele arata un mod asemanator de a avansa. Daca pe Q5 era diferential Torsen, nu se mai comporta ca si Dusterul, mai ales incrucisare.

Torsen e unul din cele mai bune sisteme din lume. Ca un film arata egalitate nu schimba realitatile...

Looking at the range of prices between both car, I would say that I am impressed about the Dacia. Audi makes good cars, no doubt, but in this specific test, the price differences is unjustified. The much cheaper car, performs at least the same or even better than the other one. Sorry Audi...but it's true.
Kinda silly your comment, a car is not only the AWD (Which Audi performed pretty much the same as Duster) there is safety,handing,power,torque,quality,ergonomics,technology,resale value,comfort, and much more.

Not only has the price for such an Audi gone prohibitively up beyond the budget of an normal honest working person, but also the cost for mainenance is way out if reach for most. Even an oil-change has cost me 250 euros. It's just rediculous.
Duster driver more competent than the Q5 Driver, doesn't revv the engine uselessly. But let's not forget Q5 heavier and w/ lower ground clearance than the Duster. All in all - as I already knew - Duster gets 5 out of 5 ! And it seems that over time it is quite reliable, too.

There was a muddy stretch on the way up for the Duster to humiliate the Audi Q5 for good. The suspension of the Duster 4x4 is much more resistant, only those who have driven one for a long time are able to confirm it.
Cool video, I own a 2012 Q5 2.0TFSI and love it, but I've always liked the Duster. Actually pretty surprised at how similar they are in size. Can hear how nice and short that 1st gear is in the duster and the interior of the new one is pretty cool.

The Duster design just seems to make it look smaller than it actually is. When I see them on their own they look small, but when parked next to other cars you realize that it actually isn't that small. Well that's to my eye anyway

Frumos video. Gata, acum am confirmarea ca sistemul AWD de la Dacia este mai performant decat Quattro. Diferenta de experienta intre cei 2 soferi, anvelope si stilul de condus in teren sunt detalii ce nu merita luate in calcul. Cu alte cuvinte Audi Q5 in teren este mai slab decat Duster. Lasand ironia la o parte, felicitari soferului de pe Dacia. Chiar stie sa se foloseasca de momentum-ul masinii, cand si unde sa accelereze.

I don't get the people that say that Duster won, I mean, they both did the same thing, but the Q5 barely tried, while the Duster was in 5000rpm most of the time..I own a tfsi q5 and got it on some fucked up terrain, but always got out easily with ESP off, with proper tires and drivers, the Q5 will always overtake the Duster, in any category
also don't forget that this q5 is an auto, which sucks for offroading..ground clearance is 20cm q5 and 21cm duster btw, for the ones who praise the ground clearance :D
This "comparison" is cheated as hell. You are trying as hard as you can to show that the Duster is better than the Audi, but that is not true. First of all the conditions are not equal becauce the Audi weighs 1,5x more then the Duster, of course isnt gonna start in the middle of a steep muddy hill as easy as a "paper" car. Second, when the situation is tight, you are using momentum with the Dacia and you are absolutely not using momentum with the Audi, and even so, the Audi manages to pass the tests. I like the Duster a lot, considering the price it's a very good car and even it's good on terrain, but let's be fair. The Audi has a much more sophisticated Torsen AWD system, only this system alone worth as much as a Duster, not to talk about how much more sophisticated is the Q5 as a car is, as the Duster.

only problem with this comparison is that the audi needs to take it easy so that the front bumber doesnt get destroyed, because a new front bumber on Q5 cost as much the whole duster

That cheap Duster will easily outperform most of his rivals (Range Rover, Land Rover Discovery, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Seat Tarraco, VW Tiguan, Subaru Outback, etc.). For example german cars have more power, more luxury, are more expensive - but all that goes to waste because german cars suck at exterior design (ugly looks), lacks of performance (good power, bad transfer), expensive to repair (due to complexity), expensive to insure (BMW suffers the most).. Dacia does a good job at offering cheap and good vehicles.
Мне одному кажется, что все препятствия Дастер берет просто в режиме Авто? Если это так, то организатору большой ДИЗ, а машине три раза зачёт!!! Дастер для восточной Европы в режиме Lock и диагональ проходят легче, и в принципе, меньше проскальзывают колесом. Мише ежду этими режимами, кажется, много общего, но работа помогающий электроники настроена по-разному. Диагональ, и сложное буксовпние на Дастере надо проходить только в режиме Lock об этом говорит производитель!
Der Duster wiegt ca. 500kg weniger und so wie es aussieht hat der auch mehr Bodenfreiheit was Ihn meiner Meinung nach zum eindeutigen Sieger macht. Ich finde außerdem das der Duster auch besser aussieht aber das ist ja geschmakssache.

The Q5 is not designed as an off roader. Its a silly fashion statement car, nothing more. In the UK a lot of people who drive them only do so to show off, or try to make others think they are somehow super special. "look at me in my big Audi SUV". So what ?
I drive the Duster Phase2 4x4 dci since six and a half years and she (Ronja) never has let me down! Excellent car in every situation.

There was a muddy stretch on the way up for the Duster to humiliate the Audi Q5 for good. The suspension of the Duster 4x4 is much more resistant, only those who have driven one for a long time are able to confirm it.

Cool video, I own a 2012 Q5 2.0TFSI and love it, but I've always liked the Duster. Actually pretty surprised at how similar they are in size. Can hear how nice and short that 1st gear is in the duster and the interior of the new one is pretty cool.
The Audi Q5 is much larger than the Duster on the inside and the boot, it is a bigger class crossover.
@@jpch8814 Yes I know the Q5 is much larger inside, just commenting on how similar in size they look in the video from the outside. The Duster design just seems to make it look smaller than it actually is. When I see them on their own they look small, but when parked next to other cars you realize that it actually isn't that small. Well that's to my eye anyway

Frumos video. Gata, acum am confirmarea ca sistemul AWD de la Dacia este mai performant decat Quattro. Diferenta de experienta intre cei 2 soferi, anvelope si stilul de condus in teren sunt detalii ce nu merita luate in calcul. Cu alte cuvinte Audi Q5 in teren este mai slab decat Duster. Lasand ironia la o parte, felicitari soferului de pe Dacia. Chiar stie sa se foloseasca de momentum-ul masinii, cand si unde sa accelereze.

I don't get the people that say that Duster won, I mean, they both did the same thing, but the Q5 barely tried, while the Duster was in 5000rpm most of the time..I own a tfsi q5 and got it on some fucked up terrain, but always got out easily with ESP off, with proper tires and drivers, the Q5 will always overtake the Duster, in any category
also don't forget that this q5 is an auto, which sucks for offroading..ground clearance is 20cm q5 and 21cm duster btw, for the ones who praise the ground clearance :D
Who buys a q5 for off road driving? None... good for having a cappuccino in the city centre, excellent for highways. 🏌

Comparison lol! Get same tyres on both cars and make them have same weight. The Dacia weighs 500 kg's less than the Q5! LOL
This "comparison" is cheated as hell. You are trying as hard as you can to show that the Duster is better than the Audi, but that is not true. First of all the conditions are not equal becauce the Audi weighs 1,5x more then the Duster, of course isnt gonna start in the middle of a steep muddy hill as easy as a "paper" car. Second, when the situation is tight, you are using momentum with the Dacia and you are absolutely not using momentum with the Audi, and even so, the Audi manages to pass the tests. I like the Duster a lot, considering the price it's a very good car and even it's good on terrain, but let's be fair. The Audi has a much more sophisticated Torsen AWD system, only this system alone worth as much as a Duster, not to talk about how much more sophisticated is the Q5 as a car is, as the Duster.
This Q5 has the Haldex system. And it's similar to the one one the Duster. More expensive maybe.

@@alejandroalejandro6144 yes, that's what the Audi owner said to me. Plus the fact that on the diagonal test, the q5 had the same behavior as the Duster. Which means that they have similar diferential systems.

only problem with this comparison is that the audi needs to take it easy so that the front bumber doesnt get destroyed, because a new front bumber on Q5 cost as much the whole duster

That cheap Duster will easily outperform most of his rivals (Range Rover, Land Rover Discovery, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Seat Tarraco, VW Tiguan, Subaru Outback, etc.). For example german cars have more power, more luxury, are more expensive - but all that goes to waste because german cars suck at exterior design (ugly looks), lacks of performance (good power, bad transfer), expensive to repair (due to complexity), expensive to insure (BMW suffers the most).. Dacia does a good job at offering cheap and good vehicles.

Мне одному кажется, что все препятствия Дастер берет просто в режиме Авто? Если это так, то организатору большой ДИЗ, а машине три раза зачёт!!! Дастер для восточной Европы в режиме Lock и диагональ проходят легче, и в принципе, меньше проскальзывают колесом.
Мише ежду этими режимами, кажется, много общего, но работа помогающий электроники настроена по-разному. Диагональ, и сложное буксовпние на Дастере надо проходить только в режиме Lock об этом говорит производитель!

Der Duster wiegt ca. 500kg weniger und so wie es aussieht hat der auch mehr Bodenfreiheit was Ihn meiner Meinung nach zum eindeutigen Sieger macht. Ich finde außerdem das der Duster auch besser aussieht aber das ist ja geschmakssache.

The Q5 is not designed as an off roader. Its a silly fashion statement car, nothing more. In the UK a lot of people who drive them only do so to show off, or try to make others think they are somehow super special. "look at me in my big Audi SUV". So what ?
