    About Life Below Zero:
Life Below Zero follows six people as they battle for the most basic necessities in the state with the lowest population density in the United States. Living at the ends of the world's loneliest roads and subsisting off the rugged Alaskan bush, they battle whiteout snow storms, man-eating carnivores, questionable frozen terrain, and limited resources through a long and bitter winter. Some of them are lone wolves; others have their families beside them. All must overcome despairing odds to brave the wild and survive through to the spring. And when spring arrives in Alaska, rising temperatures bring mounting challenges as they work to prepare for yet another winter.

Own everything, no bills, off grid is the way to go. Need to set traps, go fishing, hunting, foraging, cut firewood, store water, this is your new job. Spend the nice weather upgrading your cabin and surrounding area, do what you can to be prepared for the winter, and btw never wash off your eggs, they will last longer if you don't. Chickens, goats, and rabbit's are great for renewable food sources.

Assuming you treat your arrows right and don't lose them you can get a lot of use from each one.

    Here in,
    Life above 100.
    We subsidize live also.
Alaska is just too dang cold. And its hard to move there.
So over a decade ago. I move back to the boarder.
    Subsidized living here is different.
2 weeks out of the year I have to harvest my stable.
At this same time is another food source that is about a month long. And then its followed by another two that about 2 weeks long.
And water is very hard to have.
It only rains about 2 or 3 DAYS a year..And those are in deep summer.
This is when you must harvest your water.
And you never know when that day of rain is.
Plus it only rains for like an hour. Which maybe 2 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning.
Add to this those two or 3 days are not together.
An example is; It may rain on July 8th at 1 am, next rain can be August 18th at 5pm And thats it for 365 days.
We do get some sprinkles now and then. But the ground doesn't get wet. So there is no collecting.
And when it does rain. Whatever you have not caught withing 30 minutes after it stops. Is gone.
For 15 years I have never received over 6 inches of rain. Most years it 3 to 4 inches.
Where they report that we recieve 8 inches a year. I'd like to know.
And yes I add all those 0.001 inch sprinkles..And they are not even close.
FYI we get about 5 to 10 days of useless sprinkles through the year.
And only one year did it snow enough to collect that. ( understand when I say it snowed. I mean no more then 1 inch of snow.)
And most our food is plant based.
Meat is very rare. Unless you like rattlesnake, jack rabbit, and pack rat.
Oh and well is out of the question. Water is 1500 feet down and its not safe to drink for long periods. ( fine for a couple years but past that isn't good).
I've been off grid subsistence living on the Mexico boarder for 11 years now.
In a way I envy the wood and water in Alaska. But I hate the cold.
I will never have the money to move to Alaska.
For I would have to own a boat that could take me there.
Ferry is too hard to get.
And going overland, through Canada is too restrictive for a person to do it right.
However. There are not a lot of places along the boarder either to have this life style.

The world has a balancing mechanism built in. A lot of those people will never do it because they come from families who would never have brought them into the world without the conveniences that modern society provides them. Hence, the world goes through cycles of war and famine etc. and a lot of those people don't make it and the culture changes.
