i think preppers shouldn't be made fun of, like they currently are. i think more people should be encouraged and even rewarded for prepping. when disasters strike, having lots of people in every community who are ready for it will mean the country will fair much better as a whole, with each community being able to help itself on a basic level, until more help can be summoned.
During the shutdown many preppers did not need to go out to super markets and compete for things. Being prepared is just common sense. There are video's of people being trapped in their apartments with no food in Asia.

We are just being realistic, fatties will not stand a chance during an economic collapse, or even doomsday, they need to be able to survive deadly situations, fend for themselves, and so on. Its one thing to help others, but to not help yourself by losing weight while saying you are preparing for doomsday is idiotic, they can have all the food in the world, but their weight will hold them back from defending their food.
Maybe watch something different than National Geographic. This show tends to make prepping dramatic. Practicing preparedness can be exceptionally logical and wise. And it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
I loved the woman who could cook, she's pure gold to be honest. I mean, run a business she could be a cook, body guard, discount saver, I'm like who raised you?
I find it fascinating, how people are more concerned about an unknown and indirect threat, than the ones they are currently facing. The first guy would likely die from a heart attack, over a solar flare. I know that's sounds mean, but it's true. He's putting all of his time and energy into preparing for an event that he cannot predict nor stop, over something he can predict and prevent. But I guess that's why National Geographic makes shows like this, because they can predict people will watch it because of how unpredictable these scenarios are.
To be fair, he is trying to prevent his weight problem from causing something like that. To the point he’s even getting surgery, which you have a pretty decent chance at dying from so he’s taking that issue on just as serious. And while some of these are a bit far stretched it’s not unrealistic. Each of these apocalyptic scenarios on their own does not have a very strong likelihood of happening, but if you add every last one of these chaotic theories, the chances for at least one of them happening is not too unlikely to happen, and while they’re preparing for something specific, what they’re preparing can come in handy in most other apocalyptic scenario too. Like if the first guy finds himself in the second stories scenario, his plans are still gonna help him. I’m not prepping like these people are, but I will have a stash and some plans ready just in case. “Hope for the best but prepare for the worst” if the motto I go by
He's definitely one of the least offensive doomsday preppers I've seen. He's still a goofball like the rest, but he's focused on genuinely practical matters, he doesn't have delusional paranoia, and he's planning how he'd contribute to a post-doomsday society. So many of these other guys are just fantasizing about how they could become a hermit and shoot a bunch of people if only society would collapse already.

@Neil Miranda Sure it is a hobby. And way better for them than doing nothing in their free time. Just saying that part of this whole surviving idea should be a healthy diet too. I totally get the fun parts of this hobby and the social aspects of creating groups and exchange knowledge.
I haven't yet watched the whole thing but I like the first guy - "I hope I am crazy" - he recognises he may just be nuts / paranoid / simply wrong, yet prepares just in case. Kind of like having a first aid kit but hoping you never need to use it for anything serious.
Well, maybe I should correct myself, I mean in a sense they are preppers for any low-level kind of emergency, but of course in worst case, no lol. But to be honest, most of us aren't.
30:43-31:01 - "I just don't spend my time worrying about storing guns and ammunition, because our security comes not from stockpiling weapons, but from having a community that respects each other, supports each other, and we have each others' backs." It's sad to say, but most of these families wouldn't stand a chance. It's one thing to be capable of hoarding supplies, but it's an entirely different thing to keep them. A group of overweight adults barely capable of walking (and who have no tactical training) would not be able to defend themselves against a group of people who are trained to inflict violence and take their stuff. Apart from hardening your location with a large group of people and defenses, the best thing you could do is to avoid making yourself into a target to begin with by not making your location and supplies known. They're doing the exact opposite of that by taking part in a television show that is broadcast around the world.

If she has other forms of energy to power her electric appliances, then it's okay for her to use an electric stove. It's expensive but if she can afford it there's solar panels, wind turbines and manually powered generators. There are also solar powered cookers too that use the heat from the sun to cook food.

Apart from hardening your location with a large group of people and defenses, the best thing you could do is to avoid making yourself into a target to begin with by not making your location and supplies known. If they aren’t crazy, they are at least getting very close.
They arent prepared at all, they couldnt run 500m
i swear due to how crazy people act nowadays these guys looks less crazy and sound even more reasonable
Our media never tells us anything... May 2020 Pluto atmosphere collapsed. December 2020 Neptune atmosphere reversed. Uranus will be next.. When it hits earth we won't be able to grow food for time.
@@pspcraft this isn’t true at all lmao.
preppers lead the way ! HOOAH
Imagine spending your entire life preparing for a disaster, but you die from a different one you weren't prepared for.
I’m sure most of these people are prepared for several things but NG probably tells them to pick one ridiculous thing to be more entertaining, that’s just reality TV though.
remember like 10 years ago on yt when you saw this kind of people, I use to laugh. But to be honest I'm prepping a bit as well and learning useful skills
I've actually gone more from prepping to trekking during the last few years! ;)
Its true funny i first see this kind of people but now its happening and being a prepper is a good idea now
Become healthier!! That is one of the keys!!
That's the biggest flaw with most people on this show. It's a while since I've seen the full series, but I don't recall any of them mentioning learning about nutrition or proper physical fitness and very few mentioned having any form of first aid training.
why ...to die healthy most people will not last month one.
Coleen is preparing a meal for all of those people with her preserved food. But she is cooking it on an electric stove. She needs to become proficient in cooking over open flame. There is a difference.
As a chef I noticed that immediately lol. I had that same realization between my first and 2nd kitchen I worked in
Right unless your going to have a huge fire and tons of time nobody is making 7 different dishes
If she has other forms of energy to power her electric appliances, then it's okay for her to use an electric stove. It's expensive but if she can afford it there's solar panels, wind turbines and manually powered generators.
There are also solar powered cookers too that use the heat from the sun to cook food. Also on those days when there isn't any sun, they can use barbecue pits, grills and such.
I wonder if the economists they talked to STILL think we're not at risk of hyperinflation.....
The people who were making honey and cider, notice how they were prepping for an earthquake, but they were putting food in jars...which means if the jars fall from the earthquake all they're food will be gone
yep .... they need to pack the food in unbreakable things
@@ariyotheapbtservicedog idk if your being sarcastic or not but yeah they should at least put it in tins
@@pogmothoin7133 oh of course not being sarcastic. no. i'm saying that they should use something unbreakable .. tins is maybe a good idea ... perhaps silicon food-safe bags ... plastic jars ..? Something easy to wash and re-use.
@@ariyotheapbtservicedog yeah
If I remember right, they are located somewhere in New England. New Hampshire, Vermont or something. The earthquake they are worried about runs along the Missisippi river a thousand miles from them. They won't feel a thing.
Looks like a fun hobby that engages the whole family. Many people need something to focus on! aslong as it does not turn into paranoia
Uhm... no.
More folks ought to be doing this.
But please have yourself in good health and a good weight and sit what’s the point of prepping if you’re not in good health
True
I agree. I'm thinking they're figuring they'll just outsmart these preppers and acquire all that they've worked on saving.
This gentleman has some VERY GOOD videos on" how to do" many different things , all important . Plus his vids have some great country humor mixed in . The heavy set lady is inspirational and wonderful .
It's so nice of that New England couple to prep so someone else can take it all with guns and survive.
Thats what I was thinking
They did say they wanted to help their community lol 😂
"Our security is the community built around honesty and respect"
the community: I'll poison them or cut their throat while they are sleeping
It's super easy to laugh at them, but they are actually doing the right thing, most of us would die or be struggling while some of the preppers out there have a higher chance of surviving.
They'll last longer than the moron who weighs half a ton and thinks he's going to singlehandedly fight off an armed mob.
I wonder if she is going to invite all the inmates from her local Prison or Rikers Island to Dinner ? She just might be on the menu 🤯
I'm from the Philippines and those couple speaking Tagalog surprised me😂. What are the odds? 😆
I was thinking about that too. More surprised they said it was a rare language. I am in California though so it may make a difference.
Hala anong timestap?? 🤣

Nagulat din ako hahaha go girl
Pretty good, I'd say - aren't there around 100 million speakers of Tagalog? They should go with Ilongo.
Really smart people are often misunderstood to be crazy. After 2020 I've decided to be more self sufficient and think more critically of preparing for worst case scenarios. Started taking archery classes and starting to learn to grow my own food.
are you calling yourself really smart?
@@Lolo5 i wouldn't call myself a really smart person, no. I just practicalise on what others have done for my own benifit. It's really good to grow your own fruits and vegetables, prices are insane rn! Took up gardening, archery and beekeeping as new hobbys that are fun and somewhat practical if shtf. If you want to start with something, corn and tomato's is easy to grow and flow hives are easy to maintain and care for, not easy though but worth it.
