I wouldn’t say this was her peak creatively (there’s still so much great groundbreaking stuff to come on this journey) but Blonde Ambition eta is def peak pop star Madonna.

The MTV 1990 VMA performance is a jaw dropper. A total departure from the style of the video in the best possible way! And its totally unlike anything you'll see on tour as well.
This video was directed by David Fincher, who also made the Express Yourself and Oh Father videos.
Many of the shots were recreations of actual "Old Hollywood" portaits and fashion photography by George Hurrell, Horst, and others.

"Vogue" is one of my favorite songs of Madonna! And the video is one of the best music videos of all times! For me "Vogue" represents the great entrance of Madonna to the 90s. 🙂
This song and video really brought her career to a whole new stratosphere . To this day it’s still so recognizable. Iconic.
for me it is the choreography in the sticky & sweet tour that seals the deal for me. But VMA is iconic and MDNA is stunning... Now. the celebration tour is also unique because of her daughter. Heck Do them all....... ❤ they will blow your mind.
I'm Breathless is such a great album. The 40's inspired music really suits her voice well. And the Sondheim compositions...swoon.
Such a worldwide mega hit! What a song. And the music would be released yesterday and it is still a fantastic piece of art. It crosses the times! Fabulous!

Oh, you just have to do the 1990 MTV Awards performance. It is unlike any award show performance that had ever been done before or that came after it.
The most see is definitely the MTV VMA performance 1990 where she stole the show and its still considered one of the most iconic MTV awards performances of all time, not just by her but by anyone. It usually tops polls.
Unusual for her, it is mimed but it goes with the whole ballroom theme and once you see the choreo, you will understand.
Many say that’s the court of Versailles, and Madonna is Marie Antoinette, but I heard in an interview it was inspired by Dangerous Liaisons. Same time period, regardless.
I have to tell you both, I've just been to the Celebration tour twice and you guys are in for a treat! It is amaaaazing.

@OurAnxiousReactions yup, and I lined up for 9 hours (first night) because I was on floor A and got to the edge of the very front stage. The number of times she came to my area and was basically 4 feet away from me performing is something I will take with me forever. Someone who meant so much right there. Beautiful woman.

The iconic live performance would most definitely be the 1990 VMA's version. She mimes it, but the whole performance is incredible and so different to the video. I'm also hoping you'll react to Sooner or Later before you react to the Blond Ambition tour. She does a live performance of that song on that tour, but the one to react to is the Oscars '91 performance of Sooner of Later as it's one of her most fantastic and incredible vocals ever.

A classic. Madonna at her best.
She does this a lot on tour - so eventually you will see them all SO for that reason you MUST do the MTV VMA performance ICONIC performance where she brings DRAG to mainstream. Easily ranked as the best MTV VMA performance of all time by any artist. Also - since there were only 2 singles from “I’m Breathless” - You should also see her performance of Sooner or Later from the Oscars. The song wasn’t a single, but the performance might be one of her best vocals of all time.

Awesome reaction ladies....again! I lived in the West Village in NYC from 1986-97, and many late nights we'd cross the street on the Westside Highway to check out the dancers that were voguing on the Piers, often times celebs like Madonna would be there hanging out. Always a fantastic time. 2 fantastic live versions are Sticky and Sweet Tour and the MDMA Tour.

Timeless, Iconic, Amazing song/video!! My fave performance of Vogue still has to be at the MDNA tour in 2012. I was lucky enough to see the show outdoors at Hyde Park in London 🇬🇧 A-MAZ-ING!! The ReInvention tour version was absolutely fabulous too!!! ❤

Madonna made it ok to be different, supported rhe lgbtq community, did alot of work to support the Aids epidemic, a true queen for sure.
I love all the things you are saying about madonna and what she was bringing to culture through her art. because of all the hubbub and controversy that often surrounded madonna over the years, it is easy to to overlook the important ways madonna gave voice to women, to gay men and lesbians, to drag queens, to trans, to artists, to being sexual, to anyone on the margins. she really is a brilliant woman, who used her art to change and challenge culture. she was my exact generation, her first hits began when I was a sophomore in high school, and I watched her all through the rest of high school, into college, into my young adult life, my adult life, and here I am at 55. (dear god!) I admire Madonna to the skies.
I love her hits just as much today as I did back when they were released. Her videos were always the top of the top. She was unafraid to speak her mind politically. She did A LOT for gay and lesbian visibility. And she was such an important voice at the beginning of the AIDS epidemic. Madonna, Joan Rivers, and Liz Taylor made AIDS awareness a priority, at a time when nobody would talk about it. This was so major and so important. i am a proud Madonna fan. She brought an excitement and glamour to the music scene. She always had something new to show us.

Sooner or Later is my ultimate favourite. Nobody has ever been better that Madonna that night.
Gosh, ladies - that's a big ask to choose only one live 'Vogue' performance.
Asking to choose only one favourite live Vogue performance would be equivalent to asking a mother or father to choose their favourite child in a large family....lol.
I understand from previous nominations for live performances you came to an agreement that the "Blonde Ambition Tour" was out of bounds because, as rightly advised, the tour must be watched as a whole and not dissected as it is the first Madonna 'Musical Theatre' style tour. It really must be seen as a 'WHOLE'. That being said, I suggest watching the live MTV Awards 1990, where Madonna (her inspiration was the Palace of Versailles Maria Antoinette), along with all her dancers from the Blonde Ambition Tour, performed it flawlessly.; Madonna didn't sing live due to the heavy outfits worn along with the choreography and the need to have free hands to vogue.
Madonna's lipsyncing is also her way of paying homage to the gay drag community, who let Madonna into the once secretive space and gave her the Vogue dance gift.
The other live performance you must watch is during the 2012 Super Bowl halftime performance; Madonna didn't lipsync for that performance (more people watched Madonna live at the halftime show than people who watched the football match).

This song was inspired by ballroom culture in the 1980s in New York City. She re-creates the ballroom atmosphere in her Celebration tour, which you will see when you attend.
The best live performance is from 1990 MVAs. It is one of her most iconic moments in her history of performing.

MDNA Tour version for sure! It’s a tour of hers you haven’t reacted to at all yet (2012) and that performance is a musical & visual FEAST 😌✨ A favorite among fans

As for a live version, I also agree that MTV Awards is iconic - she lip syncs referencing Drag Shows and of course underground gay culture, from which inspiration for the song was born! For an actual live singing version Sticky and Sweet tour is also great ❤

It had to be lip synched because that's what happened at the Balls where Vogue came from. They lip synch to the hits whilst posing.
