Hello everyone, here's a request from Carol that covers both New Music Thursday and Christmas! Let me know your thoughts! Thank you Carol! Thank you all so much! Y'all Keep TCB'ing!
My favorite Christmas song! The original recording was from the classic 1963 Album "A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector" from the legendary music producer Phil Spector. Spector was known for his so called "wall of sound" arrangements and production techniques where he layered multiple instruments on top of each other. Darlene Love performed this classic on the David Letterman Show every year at Christmas time for more than 20 years until the show ended in 2015. And every year music director Paul Shaffer tried to get closer and closet to matching the original recording's orchestration - just look at all of those instruments! And that sound! In the award winning film "20 Feet From Stardom" (a documentary about back up singers), Darlene tells the story of how she was fed up with the music business after repeatedly being treated unfairly and left it behind. Years later she was cleaning houses for a living and one time the radio was on and she heard her song "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" and it reminded her that she had god given talent and that she should be singing and she returned to the music business. It took many years for her to get the recognition she deserved but in 2011 she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Thanks so much. No Christmas should pass without this. What a pair of lungs -- goes to show there's nothing like natural talent w-out auto-tune & whatever else is used to enhance some singers. Not to mention our great instruments that were used -- nothing like our great American music. Have a good Holiday.
Hi Carol! Thanks again for that brilliant request! Music has the power to take people from all walks of life, background or location and bring them together.
This is one reason I love this channel. I get a good dose of Elvis and learn about, see and hear other great artists, as well. Merry Christmas, Everyone!!!🎄💝
I've haven't heard this song in a long time I never knew who sang it but always thought it was such a beautiful song .. Great reaction for new music thrs really enjoyed this...
Haha, I missed it last night and didn't get it uploaded until after midnight, missed it by like 10 minutes! It's 11:15pm here, so I had some time, haha! Thanks Dave! TCB!
@@TCBEric oh, that’s right I’m on the eastern standard time zone zone You’re in the central standard time zone I completed forgot about that My apologies, sir 🙏🏻🙏🏻
This was the final time she performed on the show as David letterman retired in May of 2015. There is a contemplation of all her appearances on Don Giller’s channel and a short mashup on the official letterman channel :)
Looks like another disappeared. Don't recall if i had previously suggested these from '68 but maybe you'll get a chance to look at these 2 at some point amongst the other gazillion things you're doing: "Blue Suede Shoes" pieced together from sitting to center stage w-a cute finish looking more gorgeous than ever ua-cam.com/video/Ak5KEbi8Nac/v-deo.html & "Jailhouse Rock" quite different than the rehearsed choreographed film version ua-cam.com/video/87N6Qa0D7KY/v-deo.html. Together they total just 4 min. so you could do one than the other. Sorry if i'm repeating.
