For all those experts with no experience who harp about this being “a waste of time”... why are you WASTING YOUR TIME watching UA-cam videos and trying to leave unwelcome comments? Do you even have a car and a driver’s license yet?
Man people do NOT understand the ( magic ) that you are saying Griffin.. They do not fathom that you can do small low cost performance stuff to add a little spunk on the cheap ( people ) are sold on HIGH ticket performance ( not knowing ) that you need another part to assist the other part.. This platform UA-cam everyone seems to be a big time expert ( I am not expert ) people are too emotional Jetpowered
BST Ford Channel Thanks for the reply. People don’t understand that this is one of their last opportunities to ACTUALLY HOT ROD THEIR STUFF! Everything is switching to bolt-on accessories that require no skill OR Hi-buck nonsense that almost nobody can afford. The Ford Modular System allows for AFFORDABLE INTERCHANGEABILITY, or.... Parts swapping. You can just get a cheap Cobra engine out of a Lincoln LSC or... build an “affordable” supercar that’s faster than all the Lamborghinis&Ferraris: www.foxnews.com/auto/2006-ford-gt-sets-standing-mile-record-at-300-4-mph SAME core motor: The Ford Modular. I do know that GT runs on cubic dollars BUT I do ALSO know that the main shop behind that car offers the basic parts to head in that direction without necessarily spending a fortune- but it requires skill, knowledge&experience to make progress NOT “just money” OR simple bolt-ons. The PI C.Victoria is an amazing opportunity to build&swap motors, trans.&parts on an affordable budget on a daily driver that can ALSO still be a family car. They’re so affordable you can even have a few of them! They can even tow trailers and have some free actual bulletproofing... The kids&dogs can’t destroy the carpet... Et cetera.
It's not a waste of time... Well for a Civic it isn't. On the boat that is a CV, it's a total waste of time. You won't feel 15hp gains on a big car like that. You'll sharpen throttle response a bit, but just a simple drop in K&N does that. No need for throttle body spacers or a 2mm larger throttle body.
Even without sanding out casting marks or rounding edges, just POLISHING makes a difference on the inside of the throttle body or plenum/intake. Smoothing even the flat surfaces makes airflow more fluid. And spacers don't hurt anything in most cases. They might not help anything but they rarely hurt. Any space to get more air in is a good thing. So many people say don't waste your time on spacers, and sure, if too end power is what you're looking for. It might not be the answer, but it is if you're looking for overall better performance.
very true Greg on what you are say, but now since I added a turbo with all this now I can see a increase HIGHER vs the NA set-up now this a 10-15 hp gain on the turbo my est
To improve your response go to your pedal and by using some small pieces of spacers take up the slack out of the cable and pedal. The slightest tour of the pedal and the engine responds. Simple 5 minutes and very effective
70mm TB from Econoline van will work as well. The stock CVPI airbox already is a CAI. Do not use K&N replacement filter. K&N paper oil will foul the MAF wire and eventually destroy it. Paper filter is fine. Your intake manifold is not Ford OEM. It looks like a Dorman. Ford OEM flows better and has a separate gasket for the intake plenum.
@@mebe2k If it flows better the trade off is gonna be particle collection but you just have to clean them regularly w/o too much oil. Plus the car sounds so much better.
I’ve used k&n filters for 20+ years and a combined over a million miles and have NEVER had any issues what so ever..also that intake is without a doubt a factory piece as it looks NOTHING like the dorman piece
mebe2k absolutely not..there is nothing more getting in your engine with a k&n filter than with a paper filter..don’t blame a product for incorrect use or maybe too high of a price tag 🤷🏽♂️
Aint gonna lie first 4 mins i thought this some old janky $hit but damn i was wrong lol impressive gettin that shinny. Dont matter how you do it long as u get there. 👍🏽💪🏾🐐
lmao i respect that... Cause when you gut or port you should polish ( many dont ) you take another Hr to get it close to right.. No big hp gains just throttle response the car was sooooo weak... Now it has a little something its night and day ( for this engine ) maybe not for others... thank you for the support brother
Nice work man, that motor is sounding a lot better - I've seen port and polish on heads and headers before - never seen't it on the throttle body and plenum before - except like you said, buying custom aftermarket bolt ons - it's amazing how much throttle response you can get from a maf cleaning and port & polish done by eye - thanks for keeping the backyard mechanic /engineer going
Thank you for that I really dig the backyard performance you can feel...The plenum l couldnt go crazy cause the walls are thin.. So the combos of a slight bigger throttle body , then spacers and gutted and polished plenum , it adds a little something... i need about 3-4 more bolt ons and a tune and we are good... Right now figuring lowering car all 4 corners with no coilovers, without cutting springs "a neat trick' WITH a stock feel
Thats old school style lmao I have another idea though, its a bit harder, but not as hard PAYING $700-1300 for coilovers for this car.. I cant see that at all , i just cant not one bit...Just doing home work thats all making sure it will be lower in on stock stuff..
I’ve never been into cars, other than driving - your excellent vids are really encouraging me :-) now I’m gaining a love for old town cars, via your teaching!
I am learning myself on trial and error, and I do embrace the kind words which you are saying and that means a lot Alex... Cars can be fun and be a pain.... Many people make the the car culture corny in way that others cant enjoy it like how it once was.. Olds cars are the way to go to play around with and learn new things
Bro I just found ur channel and I'm a single dad of three and I love my crown victoria man but all the upgrade parts are expensive and I do everything in a budget man so ur channel fits right in with me cause I'm also not paying 250 for intake or 799 for headers🤣🤣
lmao you know I am NOT paying for that either man... People are afraid to say ( yo bro I dont have the cash ) I got plenty kids like you ( even more ) I can not spend money on items like that...The objective is to have the car to perform BETTER than it was for less ( and also feel )like you did something to the ride other than stickers and tint.
thank you for that JAY, many people do not like this form of building they want to the glitz and glamour .. I can not role like that bro.. Thank you so much for this comment. This help keep focused
Very very true Rob... I think that way of understanding ( car building low level ) is lost... people are scared to just create.. many that bash just does do anything.. they forget the concept of life
Thanks for the video. I tinker with everything when I build stuff. Your garage gives me anxiety though "Where the hell is my 10mm socket?" lol .. Keep up the good work ..
The key thing is he owns a 04 or older Vic. Because it is drive by cable. Not drive by wire. On the throttle body. You can get away with a lot more with the older Vics. On 05 and up the CPU will bug out. And you need some kind of CPU tune. Which means more money $$$. Or the car may shut down.
agreed i mentioned that but many people do not get this.. These cars are getting sensitive like ( the bullying laws in schools ) tender system these both items are
Sorry for the late relpy Cole I will do, but need those gears .. I have to get with that like pronto Cole... Car needs some spunk cant drift in this without gears.. Need to really turbo it, but if I see a way to do so when i have the car up in the air I may take that route with low boost 5-8lbs max need plumbing and thats the slight issue
Have gotten excellent results straightening up and smoothing out most circular intake runners from using a 3 pad cylinder hone after 1 good course grit/chop job pass. saves a ton of time and work however the hone will most likely end up broken by the time your done. still u should try it out some time
I will try that also ( cause if I take out the intake ) THAT I will do.. with combos that i have ( it should be a good results ) Thank you for that info Jeff stop by anytime

I took the bottom air box out then drilled the living shat out it also becouse the bottom has holes i put air holes into the plastic wheel wells,, this way im sucking cold air from the top of the front drive side tire,, as well the front of the car i added a bunch of air flow,, then put in K,N air filter and called it a day,, i did the radiator thermastat drilled it out ,, i cut off all the cats and used a cat fix from big daddys garage a spacer a few of them one has a built in cat into the spacer,, got rid of the 4 cats and put on some flow monster mufflers,, with the straight pipe set up,, cheers :)
I've been watching your channel for about a year or so now and i just restumbled across this video. On the portion where you we're revving it up some I couldn't help but notice how much slower yours revs than mine( grant it it's probably due to my exhaust and k&n cone filter instead of the box). I didn't think changing the exhaust and filter changed that much responce wise but by golly i was wrong. Also gonna look into some spacers and other thing's when i change my plenum and throttle body to bigger. Thanks for the vids and keep up the great vic video's😁
The the car had all the stock injectors down to the same dirty filter that the police had. Now when i added injectors ( no turbo ) it was way different ( with 5 speed ) now with turbo its not there yet until tune... each car performs different even thought they are the same car. So cars where broken in proper mine was a old city car ( no real action ) its getting better though ua-cam.com/video/CxudplMXLck/v-deo.html thank you for this comment and the 1 year of support Grayson that you for that ( it means a lot bro!)

I did this to my 01 GMQ LSE 75mm tb and a 80mm maf, plus a complete K&N cold air setup.I had to get a custom tune with these mods...I have an SCT Handheld tuner with a MOE`s tune... Most would say not to polish because the fuel droplets need a a little friction to atomize..But since we are port inj. it makes no difference..So the polishing speeds up the air flow,(theoretically)...

One thing you could do is the seafoam treatment the spray for the intake to help clean the carbon deposits in the motor it could turn back the miles on the odometer, I tried on a 99 Chevy car at work because it has 220000 miles and now it has more throttle response and a bit more pick up.
I have some in the tank , but will do that cause the car had a lot of carbon in the plenum . I seeking other small gains but that will be exhaust , gearing and pcm tuning on bench type ( aka mail order bride )
I meant using the spray straw in the intake for cleaning the combustion camber while it is running and revving the engine to about 2000 rpms and spraying it in the intake.
I knew what you where saying, I was just saying i had put some in the tank.. So i will try what you did to clean up the valves and such cause the plenum was oily ..
Not going fib Prince Mag I thought it would be much to notice... On start -up I rev a bit and it sounded different .. Then took it for a spin its a lot better needs gears and cat deletes ( or gut them ) then we can see a bit more and get a tune also....

Doing the work on the upper throttle body plenum is worth the effort however the point is to open the plenum up to the exact size of the gasket. This preps the throttle body plenum for a 75 mm upgrade in the future where you will not have to go back in and start all over and there is no downside of making it 75 mm when your throttle body is 70 mm which is the stock size of the 5.4L which is actually a better option for a bolt on 4.6 without boost nitrous or cams in which the 75mm is actually to big as you lose low and mid range power and throttle response where the 70 mm is good throughout the entire powerband
the gasket match thing is great on turbo set-up 9 like on this motor ) it works well kinda ( needs a tune ) I was thing doing a twin turbo set-up vs this cause it would be best... the issue is the rusty exhaust manifold studs... The egine need to come out.. Just messing around but I really need to extract the engine and if i do that 4.6 dohc will go in
@@bstfordchannel923 I been porting my own heads for 35 plus years now and what i have been doing over last 20 years is take NPI heads and re do the intake ports to match ported PI intakes and porting the entire heads and then adding spark plug inserts to prevent blow out plugs cause 4 threads is not enough for boost. The NPI heads when fully ported to PI intake plenums are vastly superior to stock PI heads and the cores are FREE you can get NPI heads for $40 or less

Bro! Cut out a rectangular hole in the bottom of the stock air box (doesnt have to be a big hole just a 2"w x 5"L hole) and a hole through the wheelwell directly below the intake box (3 or 4 or 5 in hole whichever u prefer for better airflow intake) and u will notice a much meaner sound from under the hood on rev-up bro!! I did it with my 01 marquis as well as tighten the free-play in my pedal by adding a split-wire connection type that just clamps onto the cable. Try is everyone you will see a difference. A couple of questions young Brother. I need a throttle body spacer and under drive pulleys for my 2011 Crown Victoria. Do you know where I can get them?
going to be honest with you do not get them for you 2011 car.. get some 375 gears instead.. No headers just do cat backs.. and do a jmod with the combo with gears and you will see the light.. the pulleys will do something but not much for the price same price you can get a better tune and shift points ( feel me Dereck ) Thottle body space alone just aint going to do nothing.. you seen i did a few things THEN i added the spacer just for look
@@bstfordchannel923 Thanks for your advice. Not trying to build a HOTROD. Just trying to make my Vic more fuel efficient so gears are out of the question. Nope they are not you have drive by wire.... You want a little bump start with gearing ( and stay there ) until you have a few coins to go bigger with the engine... you can get the intake from a mustang but you must get the drive by wire type and ( each performance adder you add ) will need a tune. so its best for you to get cams, throttle body/Plenum and get a tune all at once..

right on Bro lol I down there a lot ( as you can tell ) you know there is a lot of us, but we do not speak typical jersey vibe i guess.. I wanted to set up a meet one day with Crown Vics Marquis and Lincoln Towncars
BST Ford Channel on Instagram a lot of us talk actually. There is a crown vic club called Jersey interceptors I have yet to join though. I’d probably be going to a lot of meets right now if it weren’t for the virus and now with this protesting having a vic is considered dangerous lol.

I would hang ,but would not join though I did join Mc clubs and they get real bitchy at times.. Maybe its different with cars
BST Ford Channel yeah that’s why I haven’t joined either I don’t know them all that well. And true for jersey I don’t think it’s that big of an issue. not really a issue its just no backyard ( user friendly ) you need a tune for everything you do almost... You can not play like how you want.. so when you buy parts get combos of 3 so you get 1 tune for all of those combined vs tune and a tune and then another tune for each performance part..

BST Ford Channel thanks again the problem I'm having is that as I go to take off while in drive, it's almost as if I'm not getting any power in the trans. The od off light is flashing and If I press the button, there's no response. So far new throttle body, new output speed sensor, clean transmission fluid. I feel like it's a sensor maybe input side
So the trans feels like its in 3rd when taking off... If you can disconnect battery for a a few hrs and try again it can be two things 1 the car is in LIMP MODE and 2nd it could be taking off in 3rd or 2nd.. I am not there to tell.. Disconnect the battery let the memory drain out and then go at it again... BUT when you start it let it idle for a few mins do not rev it then drive it in 15 mins and then see whats really good wit it.. Not a fix ,but try those stem
nope each car reacts different .. The heads design and the 4.6 stroke is the issue ( to me ) headers and exhaust cost ( good ones ) 1,500 and up.. With this engine you have to something and then do 7 others things to make some power ( to me ) This was some cheap mods backyard stuff very little money..
BST Ford Channel i have a subaru wrx with 350ho to all 4 wheels. Getting bored with that and getting sick of all the turbo hassles, if you own a boosted car you will know what i am talking about. Thinking about getting one if these crown vic cars to have fun and daily drive so i have been watching tons of vids on them. And when i mentioned intake and exhaust on a NA car i was going for basic bolt on stuff. I know to get true power the cams, heads and other internal stuff would need to be done 👍

If you have some coin you add a Coyote ( top of the Ford food chain ) or just leave it stock
you can also uncap the injectors. that will give more fuel alot more then stock by far. i would suggest you watch a video on it and see if thats what you wanna do
May buy a step-up in the injectors NAME BRAND if possible I may get the injectors soon.. Trying to do " combos" new C.o.p. and plugs and maybe injectors .. I have the 255lph fuel pump ( in all ready ) then match the tune to all what is done...Ideal thing is take it to a DYNO TUNER not the mail order bride tuner... Will be Mail order bride tuner.. these are all bolts -on ( no headers ) waste no cams ( waste ) those two alone = around $1,500
headers do free up air flow. the fuel and air the more restrictive that exhaust will be. so eventually you will need to consider headers. the kits are fairly cheap. alot cheaper then the injectors
Headers are cheap for mustang not for crowns I seen a cheap pair ( for crown vic) that was around $500 which wasnt bad... Here is a silent issue when taking off these old manifold on these patrol car ( that lived in the salt ) the studs rust out and break ( they patrol in the snow ) not like mustang overs that sit there car in the garge during the snow... Headers do free up ponies if I took engine ( cause that was plan 1 time ) Turbo would be more the plan to be honest... Thanks for the reply.
People don’t understand that this is one of their last opportunities to
ACTUALLY HOT ROD
THEIR STUFF!
Everything is switching to bolt-on accessories that require no skill
OR
Hi-buck nonsense that almost nobody can afford.
The Ford Modular System allows for AFFORDABLE INTERCHANGEABILITY,
or....
Parts swapping.
You can just get a cheap Cobra engine out of a Lincoln LSC or...
build an “affordable” supercar that’s faster than all the Lamborghinis&Ferraris:
www.foxnews.com/auto/2006-ford-gt-sets-standing-mile-record-at-300-4-mph
SAME core motor:
The Ford Modular.
I do know that GT runs on

necessarily spending a fortune-
but it requires skill, knowledge&experience to make progress
NOT
“just money”
OR
simple bolt-ons.

As a crown victoria owner and someone who has been subscribe since almost day one,I love this videos and are informative..👍
Simple 5 minutes and very effective
thats i did also then i added a turbo ( no tune yet ) funds isnt right just yet brother Diran.... You are correct on the spacers and such that works
Paper filters suck, I've never had a MAF damaged from an oiled aftermarket filter.
K&N filters suck..ever seen how much crap they allow into your engine?

You shouldn't have touched the throttle body it has a coating that stops corrosion also that shape helps air flow speed hope it works out

The combos G&K is key... This method you seen here is for throttle response..Now in turbo form same deal ( HP gains ) will be greater since the path way of air is a smoother and slightly bigger so the combos are needed
Absolute fastest way to find something you know is in the garage: go buy another one.

Great info. Was the throttle body from the same year as the CV? Where can I learn more about possible mods and upgrades?
The throttle body was from a 5.4 2v...the mods are very simple throttle body gears and tune ( thats on the cheap ) .. Then there is other stuff you can do that really cost. This will wake up your car Nelson check this video when you have time of my Vic ua-cam.com/video/SxIVFtJ1S5A/v-deo.html
Unless I go to 2.73 and that's out because that will kill the performance of the P.I. Crown Victoria. So pulleys ,muffler delete, K&N filter, TB spacer are what I am looking to do for the moment.

I just paid $30 for mine from E-bay for the same thing LOL! Just like you said.
lmao thats cool did you put it on... you may need to do others things to feel a difference
So far I put duels, underdrive pulleys, Trick Flow Upper plenum, 5.4 throttle body and have MSD coils and 24# ford injectors. @@edarmstrong9389 oh yeah true it doesnt ( the carb swap is HUGE power difference.. Again when i mention what i did it was throttle response... @@bstfordchannel923 Thanks for the response. I now have 24# injectors and MSD coils, seat of the pants is better but not what I expected. Do I need a tune, or a programmer?

Please tell me if this upgrade is possible for the "05"
Nope they are not you have drive by wire....

Right out bthe box yes I will agree with that
I disagree the 05 and up have a wot lag because of the electronic throttlebody the 04s i think run much harder because of the response they have the 04 dbw tb are much more responsive.by the time you smash and go in the 05 the 04 will be catching and baam you lost.

It would be interesting to do a before and after dyno test just for the sake of curiosity. But I suppose the numbers would not vary enough to even matter. But it's never a waste of time to learn 'if' & 'how much'!
to be real a lot of stuff is a waste of time. people really dont care about 1hp- 5 hp or 10. people want that life changing hp FOR ZERO money. and it does work that way.. what i done in this video will be suited more for force induction.. Even cams are a waste if you do not add something else in the mix along with them.. $500-up on less results than what you thought THAT hurts

🤔🤔🤔 i thought it was common knowledge that the best way to bring a naturally aspirated car to life was intake and exhaust mods🤣🤣🤣.
nope each car reacts different .. The heads design and the 4.6 stroke is the issue ( to me ) headers and exhaust cost ( good ones ) 1,500 and up.. you can also uncap the injectors. that will give more fuel alot more then stock by far. i would suggest you watch a video on it and see if thats what you wanna do
May buy a step-up in the injectors NAME BRAND if possible I may get the injectors soon.. Trying to do " combos" new C.o.p. and plugs and maybe injectors .. I have the 255lph fuel pump ( in all ready ) then match the tune to all what is done...Ideal thing is take it to a DYNO TUNER not the mail order bride tuner... Will be Mail order bride tuner.. these are all bolts -on ( no headers ) waste no cams ( waste ) those two alone = around $1,500
well if your thinking that a new intake gasket so you can clean up the intake go a long ways
headers do free up air flow. the fuel and air the more restrictive that exhaust will be. so eventually you will need to consider headers. the kits are fairly cheap. alot cheaper then the injectors
I have to double check price on injectors again i seen 300 max but I know for 4 banger deachworks cost about 5-$600 440cc injectors

Decent. It’s weird though. I had to replace the intake and I got the dorman and ever since then it idles rough and even stalls out on startup sometimes if I don’t give it a little gas. Someone said IAC but I haven’t looked into it much yet
Differential just went out today but I found a 3.27 posi at the junkyard. Better than the 2.73 open I have currently
