There will never be another Stevie Nicks EVER to come along in the music industry...there has not been for 40 years another singer of her caliber that even compares.. mad love for you Ms. Nicks. Happy early birthday :))
philsskills Thanks Phil - wasn't comparing them - just nice to get an all round view - I love the video - hauntingly beautiful, have a great weekend, Lorraine :))
PS to Stephanie--would love to know where you found this version of "Gypsy"-- I saw the Great Ms. Nicks perform "Gypsy" live in concert back in 1982 w/Fleetwood Mac, on "The Mirage Tour", in Norfolk, Virginia. It was my 1st year in the US Navy; back then it was "general seating," all tickets were $7.50 and back then the best seats were "first come, first served." I remember myself and 3 other Navy guys waited in line for hours, and then once we got into the auditorium, we ran to get seats closest to the stage. Being that close to Stevie Nicks was magic. She autographed a card for me!
I found this by accident, going through YT, and it's a demo version....and its been one of my favorite songs for 35 years. xxooo love you, dear heart. 317-452-9370
this is really cool! - I love the mix , how you can hear much more of the instrumental groove. The bass and Hammond organ just pop out. - FANTASTIC!!!!!!
As I was only 18 in 65, I grew up listening to these fabulous bands.I also got to see a lot of them in concert. I suggest that you also check out Nancy & Ann Wilson of Heart.
Yes,more so her music is mysterious, but some of her old videos and performances are mystical,at least to me.Otherwise,Stevie is open, honest and loving without a doubt~
I am a huge fan of Stevie Nicks. Although this song is indeed a classic and well written, I believe, particularly as a Pagan man, that no one but Stevie Nicks will be able to capture the full intensity and meaning of this song that touches on so many themes like reincarnation and inner beauty and love vs fleeting images of youth. She truly is a painter of human emotions. For this Stevie Nicks will always be a potent and flawless artist who expanded rock music into the realm of poetry.
So sad that the other band members for FM didn't want her :( They all treated her like she was an annoyance to them, even Lindsay at times. She really catapulted them into mainstream. She deserved so much more respect than she got. She was so humble and put up with them because she knew what they were making was amazing. So glad she went out on her own for a time.
I absolutely agreed with you.All good musicians but she was higher in everything just like a leader. And the strengh she ha to recognize she was addicted to drug. She Walter to be saved but I think she did all by herself. She is like a diamond tratto cannot be broken easily. She ha always been beautiful and even now she is getting oltre, she is still beautiful. Wow...great job miss Steve God bless you .
I know what you are saying. I just think it doesn't specifically take a Pagan to understand what she is saying. This song's beauty is in the fact that she could take 3 separate events in her life, and make them into a song that while simple on the outside relays a lot of complexity. Stevie has had a lot of pain in her life, but also a lot of joy. We all have. :)
Wow i love this version like i love being told yes really makes me feel Stephanie' stevienicks see Phoenix say phonics ... still see your bright eyes (..total eclipse ...)
I love Stevie, but I don't think she's mysterious at all. Her songs are mysterious. But the woman herself is quite open, honest and loving - adorable might I add! ;-)
Stevie was very mysterious when she was the still carving her place in rock superstardom. Today she is very “out there”. Willing to share some of the fascinating stories and Golden nuggets of her personal recollections of the outrageous journey of living the life of one of rocks greatest greatest success stories. Face it. There are no female rock stars solo or within a band that are still relevant, active and traveling the world selling out stadiums at the age of 70 who still look to be 42 years of age. She is the one and only and the rest of fleetwoood mac too. Drugs and great wealth have done them and their fan base a huge favor
@Rhiannonlynn1970 Hi! The one that begins at :20 to about :28, with a white crochet cap and white feathers on, is a Stevie Nicks fan, who purchased that from a seller in the late 1990s/early 2000, and the seller had it on her webpage, along with the lady's name (which I forgot). I only remember it, because I was designing Stevie style feathered headpieces, and I remember thinking there were too many feathers on that design, and they were too "high" up on the piece. LOL. :)
Where did you FIND this version? I absolutely LOVE this song...and there's something magical about this early-take of the song...thank you so much for posting
muchos preguntaran y pocos entenderan..la conexion que genero entre vos y yo nadie la podra entender... pero es y esta... y es dificil de olvidar... aunque ya no estes...
Would so love the find a higher quality version of this exact take! The "Early Version" in Mirage (Deluxe) doesn't have the excellent mood and vocalizations at the end that this one does.
@ tak178: I never said she was Pagan. I think I stated in my posting that I am a Pagan man and that her songs and music touched me in that realm. I am also aware that she has on several occasions said that she is not a witch. I hope this gives you some clarity on the matter.
While the version that made it onto MIRAGE is more radio friendly, I truly appreciate the magic of this masterpiece. Musical arrangement and melody are far superior to what's on the album. Thanks for sharing!
stevie is the best! For all the talk about modern music, check out Sia, she is great too "SUNDAY" or "THE GIRL YOU LOST TO COCAINE" amoeba.com > live shows > sia
+Nancy Kleynowski this is a natural..take..not the kind of studio you would picture. that is half the mystque of the sound in this version, it is a thrown demo. you can go to 100 others for that sound you are wanting..a studio version.
+LaLa LA I think you misunderstood me. I quoted just what she says in the take, which is just what a natural take would have. I always look for the demo versions of songs to get the real build of the song. So any specific comments from the artist, while they are laying down a natural take, makes it that much more like you are in the room with them. Many of these takes are better than some of the overproduced finished product. It's much more intriguing to hear the manyt takes on a song while it is in it's infancy.
Nancy Beth I have as many versions of her songs. Allthough, they do sound different to me but, I love everyone of them. Take Care-I Remain A Gypsy Regina Walsh
Stevie is so photogenic..so many beautiful pics in this vid..keep on rockin' Stevie..
You mean in the '70s right?
There will never be another Stevie Nicks EVER to come along in the music industry...there has not been for 40 years another singer of her caliber that even compares.. mad love for you Ms. Nicks. Happy early birthday :))
God, Thhat was a special time.#GOLD DUST GYPSY! Love you Stevie!!!

My favorite song of all time :) Apparently this was playing on the radio in the hospital right after I was born
I love her voice so much, the sheer passion makes this song hers, as the story behind it is very sad
Stevie you wrote this for your best friend, your gypsy, who passed away. I lost mine this year so heres to B my gypsy.
stevie's #1 fan forever thanks for your wonderful songs with my name 💙💋
The Most Beautiful Woman There Will Ever Be !!!!!!!!!!!!
She single-handedly invented that Steampunk, pre-Goth style of dress which was all her own. So beautiful. Simply amazing.

They were really jealous of her. I’m happy that stevie is starting to be recognised as the legendary artist she is.
I LOVE that Stevie was the underdog and ended up being the face and voice of Mac.
Thank you, great version and pixs.
VERY VERY OLD SOUL X
this is the best ever. right up there with Mozart and Beethoven!

La mejor y mas hermosa cantante de todos los tiempos
I love Stevie, but I don't think she's mysterious at all. Her songs are mysterious. But the woman herself is quite open, honest and loving - adorable might I add! ;-)
James S That was what I allways loved about her. R. Walsh

best version imo. love that the bass line and drums are more prominent.
IhaveaPhDinTV shit and the organ, who knew that would make the song edgier? this version is best. hear that radio?
I disagree, I miss Lindsey’s guitar. The organ is distracting.
capolavoro di Fleetwood Mac 👏👏👏🔝

That's great, except Stevie isn't a pagan. :)
I agree with your assertion...she is one of the greats.
Do you think she could clone herself so this talent can go on another 90 years?
Lots of talent in the industry these days, unfortunately it's centered around marketing and quick money instead of musical talent. :(
