  • Lot of cleaning and straightening of things. And I made a little tool to reattach the pinion gear nut. With Loctite and it done up tight that is now secure. Radiator fins were full of gunk I am slowly cleaning. First attempt to line the fuel tank didn't work so will reclean it and try again tomorrow. I also found the engine has been rebuilt in the past. It has +20 thou pistons fitted.

To confirm the status of the piston rings (presuming you can remove them from the pistons), install them evenly in their corresponding bores and measure the end gaps.

Yep, the service manual mentions that as well and says you have to do it on an unworn section of the bore. It also seems to recommend not fitting new or over size rings, instead it says you have to fit new +20 oversize rings and pistons. I am going to reassemble it and just see. If it's bad I can fix it later but if it's running fine it seems silly to do the work now if I don't need to. Getting cylinders bored isn't cheap!

@asciimation just normal dishwasher tab remember to put the parts in so they can drain properly just like when you do dishes they come out clean and dry headlights the glass to the top so the water can drain out best thing I did . try it . I had to get my own one because the wife went mad at me when she found out lol 😂

A mid-week treat! The bike is really coming along. On the road before winter?

No schedule really. Just trying to upload when I do things and upload shorter films. I want to get the engine/rear end all back together quickly so it all stays clean and I don't forget how it goes back together! I have the parts books and service manual though. One thing about bikes, they are much easier to do than cars! I should look at doing the motorcycle license learning course.

@@asciimation I don't have a bike license ether, but our local community college has a course you can take and at the end you get your license. I think it's about $200.00 bucks. It seems like the easy way to do it. Of course somebody has to put my damn bike back together first! Ha!

@@shedbythetracks Same here I think. They provide the bikes and a place to practice then they take you on your test.
