Powder Coating Oven Build Part 1 (Framing)

- I'm building a 3x3x6' powder coating oven from scratch! This build is based heavily on the tutorial from powdercoatguide.com I will link it below. I made some changes and customized a few things but this is based heavily on that tutorial. I used 17 gauge galvanized sheet metal for the skins and I highly recommend against it. Super heavy! At any rate this would be one huge video so I'm releasing it as a series. I expect 4 parts give or take. Enjoy and if you have any questions ask!

You’re the man with the plan.. great work bud!
Milwaukee man needs a Milwaukee rivet gun 😊
cool build
More is coming, part 2 will post in the next week or so when I have time to edit it. All the video is shot though.
Now you just have to make a bigger oven to powder coat this one. ;)
LOL, bite your tongue...
Fantastic!
Cool video
Thank you! It's a 6 part series, the final part (wiring the control panel) was just posted a few days ago.
I called a business for a price quote on the drywall studs the lady said I need the tracks to go with them ,but it look like you just used the drywall studs ?
I went to Home Depot, they sell the studs and the C-channel which is probably what she meant by the tracks. The C channel is the top and bottom plate and the studs are the verticals.
@@galtsgarage5775 nice I had a feeling it was the top and bottom thank you're helping me a lot .
Can you say what fan did you get and where to find it ?
Dayton Model 1TDV3

I will say the blower has been hit or miss, I haven't used it once this year and I can't tell the difference.
What size rivets did you use ?
3/16" with 1/8" grip.

Thank you
Also the sheet inside and out was 20gauge?
It was 17 gauge galvanized which is why it's so heavy. I would have preferred 20 gauge but I found a great deal on the 17.
how is the flow of the blower that occurs in this powder coating oven?
Honestly if anything it is a bit strong. I bought a low volume fan (115 CFM) but it works good. It will cool the oven significantly in about 15 seconds dropping the temp roughly 15 degrees F.
@@galtsgarage5775 I'm still confused about the installation and airflow of the blower used
@@zoy8295 The blower pulls air through the top of the oven and sends it down channels inside the wall, that air exits through the letters cut in the wall at the bottom of the oven. It ciruculates air from the top to the bottom of the oven. I hope this helps.
So what gauge would you recommend for the skin?
20 and up for sure at least with galvanized. Each panel of this oven is almost 100 pounds, the full height panels. The roof was obviously only half that heavy.
