This is pretty exciting. Many of us love the vice golf ball. I’m honestly not sure I expected this good of a review from their first ever set of irons.
I agree. Love the Vice balls and I really like the look of the irons. The VGI01 has the simple look that I adore although I would want more shaft options
Very nice performing set of irons. I love my Vice Pro Plus, thus I'm glad to see Vice bring additional golf equipment to consideration. Well done everyone!
I just went and got fitted and with someone with a super high handicap of 34 these clubs are amazing! I was maxing out my Calloway’s at 144 and after hitting and getting fitted these clubs are amazing. My miss hits are between 156-164 and max hit at 178 and that’s with a smash factor of 1.24 which still has a lot of room for improvement if you are ever looking for an iron set that can perform forgive and increase distance this iron is for sure for you !!!
When I saw the weight distro and back designs, thought the 01 looked similar to one of the Bettinardi model irons. I know the construction and materials are different. Would maybe be interesting to see a comparison of the two. Cheers, lads.
What a gorgeous looking pair of irons. I have been a vice pro user for a few years and the quality this company upholds itself to, seems to have reflected well in their iron. The collaboration with HIO would seem to be a great success. Looking forward to testing soon.
WOW! It looks like Ian needs to put these into the bag immediately. He's swinging these easy and getting tour level ball striking. Please get a full set of either of these and take them on to the course. Never seen him strike an Iron as well as these. Incredible.
Absolutely LOVE this review lads. They’re sending me the putters to test soon which I’m looking forward too, but hear your opinion on these irons and to see the data is really good. I can’t wait to try these. They really do look fantastic
I’m loving the whole DTC club movement and I play Haywood Golf irons and wedges (influenced by Club Champion videos). As a taller high-handicap golfer I value the benefits and satisfaction of ordering custom fit clubs without feeling guilty spending for way more than my game can justify. Despite my good nature, I’ve definitely rolled my eyes playing with guys hacking around with famously expensive clubs. Don’t want to be that guy.
I hit the 101's at Club Champion. The 101's are the exact lofts of my ZX5 irons. I was able to compare side by side with the exact shafts. On average they were 5 yards shorter in carry. They felt good and I felt they were a bit less forgiving than my Srixons. They look awesome. That being said, I also hit the PXG Gen 6 0311/XP and the Taylormade P790. For me, the ZX5's work but it could be familiarity. The biggest problem is the price for a direct to consumer. They are only $2.00 cheaper per club than my Srixons. That for me is a deal breaker because there are quite a few good direct to consumer clubs (Takomo, Calley). I didn't hit the 102's.
Great video y'all! I've been excited at the prospect of Vice releasing their own line, but was saddened when I saw the price. Was hoping it would be in the same DTC competitive pricing like Takomo, Caley, etc.
I'm a fan of the Vice balls, and I love what I'm hearing and seeing about both of these irons, but for the $$ I feel most people like me will want a fitting or at least to try them in-store prior to spending $1000+ for 7-8 irons.
With the Srixon Z-Star Half-price deals every 6 months or so and Maxfli Tours, I find it interesting that these DTC golf ball companies are able to survive. Speaks to the importance of marketing and branding.
I think Vice stands out among the other DTC golf ball companies though. They were not only the first real DTC golf ball that got a seat at the table (partly due to marketing to be fair) but they have tested AMAZING year after year. Maxfli only became “good” this past year and Vice balls are still cheaper than those. Srixon balls are amazing, but even with their deal Vice are still cheaper. For someone looking for a budget Pro V1 or Pro V1x, Vice golf balls are still the best bang for the buck option that consistently stacks up performance wise. As long as the prices dont creep up I only see them getting more popular.
Hey guys, what would be really useful is a table of how far you hit various clubs. After 30 years of golf I only learned that lofts are different from set to set, not just maker to maker. I played Titleist AP2s for years then switched to their T200s and couldn't work out how some clubs played different, then compared the lofts and now I know! If you had a table showing how far you hit these clubs and we could see how you hit all the other clubs you've tested, it'll show us what distances we can expect from each of these new clubs. Is this actually done anywhere? Maybe that could be a new adventure!?!
I’ve tried the pro and the pro plus balls and was very happy but then I bought the vice tour balls and I don’t want to buy anything else ever again. Vice tour is my ball.
I bought the VGI01 and VGW01 irons and waiting for them to arrive soon. I’m pumped on a new brand with FUN and LIFE put back into golf for a younger crowed. Vice is really gonna take off. Stay tuned. I hope they’ll make a driver.
I really like them, I was playing Mizuno 921 JPX game improvement clubs and it took me a little while to adjust to these VGI01 players clubs but now I’m playing better golf and I’m more accurate with my distances, which I needed 🏌🏽♂️
I’m happy companies are finally going away from iron heads with crazy designs and shapes on them and just keeping it clean and simple. 620 MBs and MP-20s are the best looking of all time but more and more are coming around.
As a 67 year old who still plays single figures, i wish someone would produce a distance iron that isn’t draw biased, all the hybrids and distance irons ive tested have this draw bias and I don’t need nor want it, so I struggle on with blades.
How are they draw bias? If anything some of these players distance irons with tungsten in the toe would make them slightly fade bias by pushing it away from the shaft
Not a single players distance iron is draw bias. Game improvement irons do tend to be “draw bias” but not directly. The face doesnt set up closed, it just has more offset to allow more time for the user to close the face. Pulling weight away from the toe and toward the heal also makes it easier to close the face. If you need forgiveness and distance but dont like the chunky soles or offsets of most game improvement irons, then you need to look at players distance clubs not game improvement ones. There are 3 or 4 entire categories of golf irons between blades and “game improvement” I would recommend looking at the Taylormade P790, Ping i530, Srixon ZX5 Mkii, Mizuno Pro 245, Cobra Forged Tech, Titleist T200, Wilson Dynapower Forged, Takomo 101T, etc
If you guys would just show the club in the playing position it would make your channel even better! The only channel that really shows what it looks like from address is Michael Newton- it would add sooo much to this channel!!
It's strange to see that Vice uses a lower price point on their balls as a selling point but their irons aren't really much cheaper than the big brands.
I swing my 7 iron in the high 90’s low 100’s for club head speed. The shafts in my clubs are some of the most stout you can buy. KBS C-Taper X-Stiff 130 grams. Just because you hit your 7 iron 130 total doesn’t mean everyone else does
What do you guys do with the clubs you test after you're done? Send them to me and I'll send you a video of a normal players toe/heel strike on a trackman lol
Sorry, but I wouldn’t use Vice irons if they were given to me as a present! I would be constantly thinking I could get more help and quality from a set of Mizunos , Titleists or Pings. It’s a bit like taking a nice looking Fiat over a Merc
Stupid expensive for dtc brands first run of clubs. Putters are expensive too. Shoulda price them way lower and ramped up the price as they became more established.
So, choice is great as a consumer. But at what point is the golf club iron market just flat out saturated? Like, these are fine irons, but the numbers and the looks and everything about them are just noise. Golf clubs have limitations, you can't just make anything you want. At some point, what is left to really differentiate on? The marketing??....and we all know that leads to all kinds of bad products and expectations. I think we are reaching that saturation point. I'm not sure the market really needed these.
Why do you guys over charge so much for these? I went to a local fitting, didn't get offered your military discount even, but did try to get up sold on these clubs, and shafts I was fitted for, basically charged for a full built club from Vice, and then for a shaft over three times the amount?!
God help you if you have a customer service issue with Vice. You get exactly ZERO service and after completing a return, they never refunded me. A full month and a half out now. I'm just out the money. Some chatbot named Joan de la Rama just keeps saying "we might get back to you....we might not." They might make neat looking stuff, but you're going to be caught in hell trying to resolve any issues when something goes wrong....which it will. I'm doing my part to "disrupt" their plan to not stand by their issues.
I know that the "z" and the "a' are close together on the keyboard and we all sometimes miss the "n" in (in) but maybe proof read the description before posting it on UA-cam?
Why the term players iron? Everyone of us the is a golfer "Plays golf" so are we not all players. I don't like the term because it denigrates average golfer like we are not worthy because we are not scratch golfers
What term would you prefer that wouldn’t offend you? It’s kinda refreshing that golf equipment calls it like it is in this regard and isn’t catering to everyone’s delicate sensibilities. Get better if it bothers you so much. You’re gonna have to earn it but it’s only a few lessons away.
What I've learnt from this channel - Me and Ian have very different definitions of a "Toe Strike"
🤣😂😆👍
Truth
I know right lol like bro hit one where there’s no groves 😂
😂@@MDBobbyQ
Not one toe or heel strike there 🫣😂
I am endlessly entertained by the idea of “trying” to hit it out of the toe or heel. Lol
Will you guys please do a review on Krank driver.
They’ll need one with hot melt. In an indoor bay those are ear drum melters. Lost my hearing hitting one.
Or wear ear protection
Won't happen until they're sold at Club Champion.
I bought one and it is a weird beast. Actually shorter vs my Qi10 standard model but it dead straight with heavy draw bias
This is pretty exciting. Many of us love the vice golf ball. I’m honestly not sure I expected this good of a review from their first ever set of irons.
I agree. Love the Vice balls and I really like the look of the irons. The VGI01 has the simple look that I adore although I would want more shaft options

As a big fan of their balls, the pricing of these irons is too high. There are so many 'proven' DTC irons to beat.
Thanks for the review!

Totally agree, they look awesome but the price is a bit of a let down as an original ‘direct to consumer’ company!
I agree, as DTC clubs they are expensive
I agree
Look great maybe a little loft tweak is needed when you see 50y carry gab between pw and 7i… would love to test these
If you bought a club like this what could you do to bring this into your fitter to have it adjusted/customized for lie and loft and gapping.
Gentlemen, thank you. Great and exciting video. Always good to discover obscure, affordable talent.
would love to see you test the maltby irons from golfworks
Would you guys compare the vg01 to TM p790, mizuno 245, Srixon zx5, as far as size and prefomance?
Can you guys do a RDX black vs blue and red at 70 x stiff on driver's?

The Z-Star “Buy X dozen and get 1 dozen free” deal is the single best value in golf.
Yup, I’ve loved the Z star for years and just bought another 2+1 dozen
Agreed, I just picked up another 2 dozen Z-Star XV's. Love em. If they are good enough for Brooks Koepka they are good enough for me!
I think Vice stands out among the other DTC golf ball companies though. Or it speaks to the inflated price of golf balls.

Was surprised to see that the gap between the PW and 7I was 54 yards. Isn't that a bad thing?
looks like they got some inspiration by the t150s
"Built to your spec" Meaning, you didn't hit it with that True Temper I've never hear of?
They look great. Will they be offered in left handed?
Good stuff fellas. When might we see some more on course videos?
I’m happy companies are finally going away from iron heads with crazy designs and shapes on them and just keeping it clean and simple. 620 MBs and MP-20s are the best looking of all time but more and more are coming around.
So which company actually builds the irons?
Ian's toe is my center... I usually hit the chrome for toe shot!
Vice balls have been sold at Walmart in the u.s for a few years
They look great
You call that a toe strike?
As a 67 year old who still plays single figures, i wish someone would produce a distance iron that isn’t draw biased, all the hybrids and distance irons ive tested have this draw bias and I don’t need nor want it, so I struggle on with blades.
All of us who have left misses are stuck with terrible offsets and draw bias everything. 3D printing may be the way out.
How are they draw bias? If anything some of these players distance irons with tungsten in the toe would make them slightly fade bias by pushing it away from the shaft
Agree. Need a fade biased iron. Closest I’ve found are the Edel SMS irons where I placed the heavy weight in the toe

Wilson CBs are pretty minimal offset. The staff Blades are forgiving as well 🙃
interesting they have jumped into this market.. would love to see a putter test
I wanna know how it hits out of Bahia grass….
They need to make these for us lefty’s!
I'm glad they didn't just purchase blanks a la Costco...
You guys should have a mid & high handicaper cone and hit these, a review on new irons should be performed by someone who doesnt pure every strike lol
If you guys would just show the club in the playing position it would make your channel even better! The only channel that really shows what it looks like from address is Michael Newton- it would add sooo much to this channel!!
If you guys ever need a test subject to strike the ball on the extreme heel or toe then I’m your guy.
It's strange to see that Vice uses a lower price point on their balls as a selling point but their irons aren't really much cheaper than the big brands.
1600 for a set is the average Price now here in germany. Vice is at 770 and 1050. So a lot cheaper.
I mean they LOOK very good.
I have JPX 923 Tours and I fly my 7 iron around 134-150 ft high. Carrying around 190, spin in the mid 6,000’s.
sure

Literally the same clubs as the new MacGregors and Bettinardis. Same club, different branding.
