As someone from the southern United States, I gotta hand it to y’all, this warms my little heart and would make me feel right at home when I visit my boyfriend
Cooking that this morning... minus the haggis. We visited Scotland in 2019 and fell in absolute love. Originally from NC in USA. The meat tasted sooo different there like not as processed. Felt so much healthier tbh
We are in Scotland again now 4 yrs later now went to lidil and couldn’t find the potato scones :( also forgot bread got some other scone. Guess it will have to do for now
I always thought black pudding was for the English breakfast only ( I hate it), I’ve had fried haggis once and wasn’t a fan. Much prefer it boiled but I’m tempted to try it again
Nope, black pudding is commonly eaten in Scotland. There is a famous Stornaway black pudding from the Isle of Lewis. A real Scottish breakfast should have square/lorne sausage too though.
New friend here. So cool that you start your videos with the gorgeous landscapes. I need to go to Scotland. I've tried all that I can, but I just can't enjoy blood pudding or haggis... definitely am acquired taste. Delicious brekkie all the same, thanks for sharing honest, authentic food.
@@CookthatFood Hello, For a traditional Full Scottish you have A slice of Bread (Fried, Toasted or Plain buttered) obviously some will replace with Potato Bread being Scottish?, Bacon, Baked Beans, Eggs, Lorne (Square patties of Sausage meat I believe invented to make Sausage Sandwiches easier)? (Why Sausages are optional), Mushrooms, Sausages (optional with Scottish) and Tomatoes. You do not have Black Pudding or Haggis. English has Black Pudding. Irish has Black Pudding and Hogs Pudding. Welsh has Cockles, Laverbread (Seaweed), White Pudding (like Black and Hogs Puddings but made with Leeks and Onions). Some will give you a Side Plate with more Buttered Bread or Toast. Obviously people will add or omit as they want? Personally I like Black and Hogs Pudding. Do you buy the Haggis sliced or do you buy one and slice it?
Tip!...after all that preparation and cooking/frying well what is next?....well 'EATING' it of course, and opinions on taste of the different ingredients etc.
As an American, it just seems a bit odd to have mushrooms and tomatoes for breakfast. But I'll take them over the haggis. Actually, not a big meat person.
it is store-bought - but you can make your own; it's straightforward and satisfying! My video [Today in Edinburgh, Scotland-Walking, Cooking Scottish food(Square sausage rolls with potato scones)] tacles this. Not quite a pancake - a dough made form mashed potato and flour, basically. :)
ok two more things id like to ask about... is haggis anything like the us item liver pudding that kinda has bits of rice in it and the potato with added flour make into flat or square patty done to just add a texture to breakfast, since its already a finished potato item??
@@CookthatFood already made a full breakie for all the family lol. ya put me in the mood, mmm cant beat a sunday morning fry up, thanks for the inspiration
Not much different from the traditional ENGLSH BIG BREAKFAST besides the Haggis of course. The Haggis itself looks very appetizing to me. As someone loving German Stuffed Pork Belly understandable, I guess :) On UA-cam you can naturaly find some clips to that German recepy as well. Even one about former Chancellor Helmut Kohl´s favorite butcher store
Scottish Breakfast ..... Lorne Sausage (not links) Black Pudding, Back Bacon, Fried Egg, Tattie Scone and Fried Bread... You can add White Pudding, Fruit Pudding or Haggis if you like it ... There should be No Mushrooms, No Tomatoes, No Beans and definitely No Hash Browns....

And here I am sitting in bed eating papaya yoghurt and honey for brekkie! Wtf! Tomorrow morning it will be a full Scottish fry up for sure!
Yes! DO IT! :)
Another particularly Scottish breakfast ingredient would be beef or steak link sausages instead of pork link sausages.
I’ve been to Scotland recently and did indeed have a full Scottish breakfast that looked exactly like the one in the video.
Where is the square sausage a must in Scotland.
and some beans .
@@robertdoherty3671.... No need for beans on a good breakfast

ANDREW CULLEN Wow so much great info! 😊👍🏻 I bought Haggis already sliced. Is that bad? 😬😭
Haggis and blood sausage delicious
Have always wanted to try haggis, but I think it is illegal in my country ☹☹☹
I always remember that ol Mike Meyers character in So I Married an Axe Murderer bought a Haggis in the movie and it was based on a dare.

I want to try haggis sooo bad!!

Thank you for this vedeo.
so is that like a store bought dried and fried potato pancake sliced?

Haggis: food of champions 😎
Hang on - why no Square Sausage??????
No such a thing
@@jaws8090 idiot of a reply
@@steviemacmuttley Explain why?
@@jaws8090 square slice is LORNE sausage so it does exist....so "no such thing" is a daft thing to reply...
@@steviemacmuttley They use it for sausage meat. But a sausage is the elongated skin filled with meat.
The square is more of a Cutlet.
Not so daft.
Theyre baby plum tomatoes not cherry
Thomas Lowdon Thank you for correcting the mistake.
I'm one half scotish and my wife is one half scotish. this is not a breakfast either of us understand or know. must be a new thing
You probably got the wrong halves.
Wheres the square sausages,,it should be square sausages not links

What did that hijab-woman do in this video? She should go back to Muslimistan immediately
It is a full English, no such thing as a full scottish. Yet anther rip off from the none English.
