OH! Quick question. I started flame-working about 5 or 6 months ago. I'm working borosilicate on a Bethlehem Bravo. I was very paranoid about eye safety so I bought shade 5 ace lenses, but I feel they are too dark. My wife has a pair of shade 202, but those are definitely too light especially when those black colors flare up on terminations. I was wondering if I could get away with shade 3 for my work. I can barely see in my shade 5's and and I'd like to go down a shade. What do you recommend?
I did the same exact thing. Got a pair of 5's, so dark i couldn't see what i was doing lol got a pair of 3's and couldn't be happier. This is a super late comment, but I'm sure by now you've been loving it lol

Yeah I would give a shade 3 a try...not too light, not too dark
