I just recently discovered the art of marble making here on UA-cam and you are about the 4th or 5th person I have watched and I just wanted to say how awesome your artistic skills are and how much craftsmanship goes into making a special marble. I have always been interested in the glass industry like blowers of glass, colored glass goblets & drinking glasses and fine China makers and appreciative of all the craftsmanship that goes into making such items. And while all of those industries are very interesting, I have now become addicted to watching marble making videos because your niche is more unique and labor intensive and artistic like a fine rare wine from a little known place in the World no one ever heard of before. As Dr. Spock would say; Fascinating.
I enjoyed your video so much.Im a paint but I want to learn how to do this.Your technique fascinates .The glass Gods blessed me with your video .I'm searching for another 👏👏👏😁
Nice! Thanks for sharing. I learned to make vortex marbles from your DVD many years back. It's still the most influential glass video I've ever watched.
I just found your videos, thank you for sharing your information! I have worked in soft glass for a decade, now wanting to try Boro. Your videos are so helpful! My Mega Minor will not get the glass hot enough, can you recommend a torch that can do both? Thank you again! Tracy
Nicely done. My dot stacks turn into funky stupid looking smears no matter what I do. Medium or small flame…with or without compressed air and middle or back of the flame. Same problem when imploding fume or striking colors. I always seem to cook them to death in the process of shaping.
There is something I have noticed in Our Glass eco-system, in the way of decent nature and general attitudelessness purely focused on the forward momentum of the learning, which I have found in no other artforms in My Life, be it music or sports, etc..and your embodiment in this mentality and matter of fact-ed-ness, has Me encourage you to share much more, because personally for me, the delivery allows me to focus AND listen, which isn't usually easy. Thanks for the clear unstained definitive maturity that many lack, and know it makes a difference. P.S. ignorance question- what, where, and who, do I gather the proper gold and silver for the beginning of my fuming practice? I assume Mountain Glass would have it but that's me assuming and I would like an educated and tried/True answer that might contain some knowledge I wouldn't think to expect or look for in such an important venture. Take care, "subscribed" and will share and pressed "like" button.
So in the beginning of the video with the flared open tube, putting the designs I was thinking " hey that's great, I think I could handle that" THEN you got to the dot stack portion of the marble and I have to tell ya..... you're one tough act to follow. Your knowledge of color combinations and technique really made that look easy. I'm goin to attempt something similar tonight when I get home and I can only hope it looks 1/2 as good at this. Excellent work
First off, I love the format of talking and watching the video. Explanations for us beginners was awesome. I had a question tho. How di you clsoe the small tube end so you could just pop off the closure point?
Awesome demo. I’ve been watching this a couple times over the past months waiting for my skills to catch up. Quick question, when your doing the condensing part does the flame type matter oxy or reducing? You get it pretty hot, I’m guessing the fume doesn’t really burn out or pale once it’s in there? Thanks for the upload!
I think its pure genius to use the fume gold behind the cobalt trans glass, to reflect thru the clear, wow, what makes the phantom lines in the clear is itin the clear glass or reflected from below?, intriguing , what other tricks do you know for kiln work glass, ha, mk
Hi I make ceramics lustered, n i luster Xmas glass bulbs, of blanks,of clear glass n lacquer the insides, white, but now I think I should be working both sides, inside n outside, ha. i think, maybe . the reason you don't always get the gold best results is because as u add the clear over the fiume gold over cobalt, you are probably burning off the thin gold coat. Did u say the phantom lines swirls are the gold n silver? Cool. Do u trap the golf fume in the tube?, I wonder what type of results you can get w dots, on stacked up, n kiln fired glass sheet small circles l w clear on top? Cold work n kiln fired. Have any ideas on cold work stacked circles, seems like I'd need to do hot dots, n fume it, have u tried cobalt luster fumed inside?is it possible To get the desired phantom result in cold kiln work?have ever made cupped, earrings mk, I've made a million pieces n now retired,
That is wonderful that you loved what your sister did, it's a beautiful talent to have. Close friend of mine passed last year and the glass beads were her talent and I inherited alot of her beads. The glass is a beautiful thing
Practice is my best advice. There are so many subtle variables that lead to the fuming not burning off - Surface temp before applying fuming, flame settings, where the metal is placed in the flame, timing, what the flame is allowed to hit, how you apply the clear over the fume, and the mood of the glass gods (and the list goes on).... Getting through the process as many times as possible is my best advice.
Thank you very much for this lesson!! P.S. If you are "behind the driver's seat" you are in the back seat. You want to drive, you want to be IN the driver's seat!! yes?
I'm sitting on the couch with my dog and I have tears in my eyes because u are missing your dog.... So sad to know that we have to say godbye one day. 💕
@@timothykeyzers4966 unless you don't actually touch the glass with the rod while you're fuming. Well, don't I feel stupid lol.. It's in the name "fume" is like a vapor. I get it now... Sorry I second guessed you Tim.

I’m several years late to the glass game, but here is my question. Who made what colors? I need to know so I don’t spend hours online, then blow my glass budget and still don’t have the right colors

My sister made and bought marbles on ebay, when she past away, I inherited her entire Marble collection. Some are are signed by the makers.

How do you not burn away all the fumes???

no

Can use an ear plug to plug off the blow tube instead of closing it with heat. Its just faster.
The lack of a shot of the finished marble at the end killed me 😭
do you still buy o2?
Do you make small beads like (12mm)? or 10mm??
nice
Nice

💕
If I make marbles can I let them cook and take them to a kiln later at like a community college free kiln fire day?
Damn cool marble brother
What’s the name of the song
i like 10 mill tube instead of pulling points
I wish you would have shown the fuming parts. I don't understand why you went off camera to do the fuming
6:00 - 6:05 shows gold fume... 6:11 - 6:15 shows silver fume....
