  • The Polaroid Go is the world's smalled integral film instant camera. It's one of the cutest designed Instant cameras on the market and gets a lot of things right with the features this camera has. However, is it worth purchasing? Check out this video to learn about the Polaroid Go camera's fatal flaw.

    You've got to similar conclusions as I did back when I started using this camera. Now after quite a lot of packs shot I can confirm that it certainly is not suitable for everyday use, it won't focus close-up and due to imperfect exposure and small size I rarely use it for street. But I learned to work around it and really enjoy this little one. Works for indoor portraits, creative double exposures and specific scenes. I don't feel like you can choose better instant camera for similar price.

    Enjoyed the commentary and the whole content!
    I hope you make more 600 and SX70 videos in the near future!
    Thank you! 🧡

    Couldn't you just upgrade the lens and bulb? I am looking into getting one just for shooting some retro style photos but I have no experience with instant film photography.

      Everything is built in on this camera - there's no ability to change out the lens or the bulb on it. It's possible in the future that Polaroid will upgrade the firmware and make the experience better. But otherwise, there isn't anything that you can do to improve the experience with this camera.
      Personally, I'd recommend trying out the SX-70, or the old One Step cameras.

    What’s the close focus distance on the Go?

    • @LearnFilmPhotography
      @LearnFilmPhotography  8 місяців тому

      Polaroid says it's about 1 1/2 feet, or 45cm. I've found images that close up to be pretty blurry though.

    What other instant camera do you recommend? I want good quality photos

    • @LearnFilmPhotography
      @LearnFilmPhotography  6 місяців тому

      The Fuji Instax cameras are awesome if you're just looking for a good quality point and shoot Instant camera. They're a great value and the film is much cheaper and more reliable. If you want the highest quality instant images, I'd suggest an SX-70. But you'll likely want one that's converted to shoot 600 film, which can be expensive.

    Which one do you recommend for me? Just getting started not a photographer just for fun and nostalgia

    • @LearnFilmPhotography
      @LearnFilmPhotography  4 місяці тому

      Just for fun and nostalgia I'd honestly recommend the Fuji Instax cameras. They're much easier to use and less costly if you make a mistake. I found that I wasted A LOT of expensive Polaroid film learning how to use the cameras. But Fuji just tends to work out of the box and gives you the results you want. Plus the film is cheaper and better quality.

      @LearnFilmPhotography also what about that vivo model? That's technically digital but you can get instant photos as well as an app

    • @LearnFilmPhotography

      That could be the SX-70, which is what I'm using in this video. It's an amazing camera, and one of my favorites of all time. But they can be a little tough to get great photos with - mostly because of Polaroid film rather than the camera.

      A friend of mine has the Instax Mini Evo. It's awesome! That digital preview is a HUGE help making sure you don't waste film, and the effects can be pretty fun. The quality looks on par with other Instax cameras.

      That's true for me as well! I'm not the biggest fan of the smaller size, either, but I can understand why some people like the idea, even if only to save money.

    I do not find any Polaroid cameras any sharper if I crop to the size of P GO.

    • @LearnFilmPhotography
      @LearnFilmPhotography  8 місяців тому

      I believe that completely. The problems I've had with the Polaroid Go aren't to do with sharpness, but with overall exposure.

      A friend of mine actually just showed me some of his shots on gen 2 last night, and for sure, it does seem a lot better! I will have to test them both out side by side to see how big of a deal it is.
