The poster of Mister Miracle appearing multiple times, with him being bound is a subliminal message that he's actually in trouble. And yeah, the eye-color of Big Barda changing is a sign that's not the actual reality, but an induced reality. So he has been most likely captured by Darkseid and for the first time he can't escape from somewhere. So he tried to escape the "reality" made-up by Darkseid by "killing himself" in that world.
Good books can cure him but instead we are making him read bad books for the shekels and sending this man to certain death by coughs. The hero we need must die coughing!

I read this on my tablet and, for me, its really immersive reading panel by panel, rather than spoiling it by skimming the whole page. Each punch comes out of nowhere, each pause is more effective. It really helps with the pacing. But, obviously I'll go full page afterwards in order to get the artists intention for the page as a whole. I also loved the changing distortion in the panels during the interview/show bit, felt like watching a seriously trippy vhs tape!

I need a copy. One thing I LOVE now that you've pointed it out is "artists never get better on a curve". You're right, a lot of artists just SKYROCKET in quality a few times. I'm thinking JRJR, Jim Lee and the Kubert brothers. Great analysis. Also, gotta mention as a UFO buff that a lot of the New Gods was also influenced by Erich von Daniken, who pioneered the 'Ancient Astronauts' theory that the History Channel obsesses over. Kirby was obviously a huge fan of the idea.
Please keep the positive stuff flowing as steadily as you can,we need it to counteract the garbage roasts,as fun as those can be. Your enthusiasm is infectious, thanks dude.
Idk about sacrificing the whole world for one person. There's nothing for that person if you killed everyone off, so they're destined to be miserable. On top of the fact that's it's just the greater good to choose everyone over one person lol

i freakin love g Gordon. from the clean cut salesman pitching inquisitor in justice league to the brash neo conservative contraversialist in young justice. However since Joss whedon is in the dceu i wouldn't be surprised if he cast Stephen Colbert to play G Gordon godfrey
Mr.Miracle is my favorite DC character. I love the idea of Darkseid trying to break him to prove a point and in the end looks at him as his own son because he didn't break. I also like the idea of him eventually killing Darkseid but also becoming just like him as the length of his rule extends.
Didn't even know this book was coming out until you mentioned it on Twitter. Unfortunately I won't be able to get my hands on it for a while, but I'm definitely going to try to add it to my pull list next time I go into the shop.

I've given up on comics for a long time but decided to get back into the game with this book. Thank you for the excellent recommendation. This one is a classic.
Tom King should stick with fringe characters. The Omega Men, Vision, Brave and the Mold and Batman/Elmer Fudd all supported my thoughts on this but Mister Miracle sealed the deal. The way that he incorporates the history and ethos of the characters is just astounding. I know its early to call, but I fully agree with you. Mister Miracle will become a Modern Classic just like Vision did. Amazing start to a story, Amazing art.
Welp, this is the first comic book I bought in many years and I got it because of you. And I gotta say, I was not disappointed. I'm usually turned off by the comics format because not a lot can seem to happen in so few pages, but WOW, I've read through this four times and I think I noticed something new every single time. Definitely going to buy all 12 issues now.
mister miracle and big barda was my go to comic in the late 80s because it was so damned good every month. If I had to chose a new character for any of the Arrowverse shows it would be discovering Miracle and Barda living in a suburb trying to blend in.
I got this at my shop yesterday, They had a stack of at least 15-20 of them along with a few variant covers. This was when I went at about 7 pm. I am new to comics and never heard of all these characters so I was very confused, but the comic was fantastic and I can't wait to read the rest of it.

As i have said before....Tom King is the best thing that happened to DC in a long time....The guy's Batman Run was freakin amazing and now he does it again.
Thanks for the recommendation. I have one of my own if you like the scrolling experience of reading a comic on a device. Batman Noel from 2011 is almost cinematic as you scroll down each page revealing more of the story. This was the first time I ever felt reading a comic on screen improved the experience over a physical copy.
We all have our favorites. Mister Miracle is obviously one of yours. I never could get into him. That's cool. Glad you enjoyed. Just keep in mind when others love things you don't. Diff strokes and all that.
Thanks for the recomendation! It was a great read. Can't wait for the next issue. I've never read a comic like this. I don't know what or who to trust, its going to be incredible.
The best line form this was "it's like a cosmic i phone" keep up the good stuff when you do good and positive reviews makes comic so much more enjoyable. Also love the reviews.
Truascedned they're more practical that way i dont know why they made them look like transformer cube rip offs its so ridiculous trying to run with one or carry it all the time that way.
There's so much mystery to this comic and the story they're telling. And with the blue to brown eyes and Oberon thing, I kept wondering if maybe Scott is remembering pieces of the original pre52 universe like Clark and Wally did. Maybe even the Death of the New Gods arc? Is it going to lead into a Watchmen connection?
When you make that immigrant comparison - the far more likely version based on Kirby's experience would be post-WWII or cold war era refugees making it to the US from behind the Iron Curtain or out of a prison camp.
1. It is Highfather. 2. You should read the Brian Azzarello run on Wonder Woman since Orion and the New Gods appear there. They also show up, briefly, in the movie Justice League: Gods and Monsters.

Οh my freakin god! Best book I have read in a while. The dream like flow reminds me of the latest Moon Knight run which started strong but trailed off a bit, still a solid read. This issue was amazing, I have never read a Mister Miracle book and this intrugued me and made me care for every character. Truly astonishing, I hope they can keep it up for the whole series!
I just purchased it on comixology. Wow, thanks for the recommendation, it was really interesting. It's very not typical to today's comics, both in the art style, and the writing.
Brian Pomphrey Lol, my bad! I bought one at my comic shop and the others off MyComicShop right after I read it. Didn't realize how hard to get it would be
I originally watched this while I was at home working out at like 4:30 yesterday and I called my local store here and they had 1 copy left. They held it for me so I bought it, read it and I liked it. Thanks for the recommendation, devil.
This is the first time, I think in my life, that a Spoiler Warning stopped me from continuing. Good job on selling the book sir. I feel you should do more of these so people can understand your love of the form. In truth sometimes you can sound quite consistantly hateful. Know your not, but this side of your channel was nice to see.
I got the last one at my local shop when I went in yesterday afternoon. I'm pretty new to comics, but I'm going to have to get a New Gods anthology because I really liked last weeks one shot and this topped it.
Im a little late to the party. I've never really been into New Gods and even though I heard alot of good things about this comic but I never really thought about reading it until I finally decided to give it a chance. This series is so great! Luckily too I was able to find all the way up to issue 8 however, for #1 and #2 only the black and white variant covers were left. Still glad I was able to find a copy....Yet again I live in Colorado Springs which is a very nerdy town with a bunch of comic shops around who luckly arent like your store that only sells the popular stuff.
I've been watching your stuff for around a year and a half, so I've heard tons of complaints about Tom King, but never watched this one. I loved this comic. It was tragic, it was mysterious, it was everything. I couldn't stop reading it and read it at every red stoplight on the way home. I had to go to the comic shop as soon as it opened because I knew I needed to get it when I first read the synopsis.
I just bought the physical #1 issue NM condition and preordered the trade on Amazon which drops in February--cant wait to dive in this story. Update: I also ordered Vision vol. 1 trade.
I would love a video about the new gods! I remeber it being mentioned a bit in the justice league cartoon ages ago, but didn't get into it, unfortunately. But I would watch that video and do my best to find the comics if I can! Thanks d&c!
Coming into this series late. Definitely will be getting the trade when it comes out. Just bought and finished Jack Kirby's 4th World Omnibus. Great stuff.
Its really good, need to pick up the next issue from my comic shop on Friday since its in the city and I live like 45 mins away :( Wish there was one closer to me! A comic shop visiting is like an event to me, its where people hang out and stuff (which also reminds me to pick up the game Gloom
Yep as soon as I finished number one I went out and bought the other 8. Very late in the line and the store has lots. Perfect review I was wondering about new gods and I got this answered
Don't forget: the 4th world was meant to be the 'after Ragnarok' for Thor, but Marvel wouldn't let him 'end' Thor and that series of comics... so went to DC and did them all there (Look it up, seriously)
Wait, what? XD Tom King is on Mr Miracle Book? First he does Vision, now he does DC's Vision with Mr Miracle. That dude has some serious talent with those characters, wow! :D (btw if you haven't read the whole Vision series by Tom King, it's easily one of the most fun reads I've had in years. DEFINITELY recommend a 100%)
I'm pissed too. I was going to go to my lcs on Wednesday to pick this up, but I got out of work late and I wasn't feeling well so I said "Eh, I'll go tomorrow. I'm sure there'll be some leftover." There wasn't. Meanwhile, the stacks of Secret Empire don't look any smaller than they did last week.
Oh yeah I thought I should mention. Tom King almost died and he said his near death experience inspired this book. I hope you see this comment
Eggs Benedict Cucumberbatch Really?!
The Nerd Wonder yes really. You can look it up online

Coah Nooper I'm recording a review for the New Gods Special #1 that came out today, in the meantime watch my Old Man Logan #27 review over on my channel feat. my all white Shiba Inu Krypto✨🐕 🎥📚🏇🏻🌑🌊
Love the New Gods and the Eternals. So underused and underrated.
It's SOLD OUT Everywhere! I have it on my Pull list. WATCHMEN was a 12 parter like this.
I loved this comic. It was tragic, it was mysterious, it was everything. I couldn't stop reading it and read it at every red stoplight on the way home. I had to go to the comic shop as soon as it opened because I knew I needed to get it when I first read the synopsis.
Wow. It’s crazy to come back to this video since now everyone and their mom hates Tom King.
Oh man. You made it. I happy you like it.
Thank you for this recommendation omg. I dont know exactly whats happening, but omg I am so excited to see what happens next god damn.
Thanks d&c!
Mr miracle's suit is like the vision's costume on steroids.
Coming into this series late. Definitely will be getting the trade when it comes out. Just bought and finished Jack Kirby's 4th World Omnibus. Great stuff.
Alright I'm sold
Its really good, need to pick up the next issue from my comic shop on Friday since its in the city and I live like 45 mins away
:( Wish there was one closer to me! A comic shop visiting is like an event to me, its where people hang out and stuff (which also reminds me to pick up the game Gloom
Yep as soon as I finished number one I went out and bought the other 8. Very late in the line and the store has lots. Perfect review I was wondering about new gods and I got this answered
Finally got a copy of this today -it really is spectacular!
(btw if you haven't read the whole Vision series by Tom King, it's easily one of the most fun reads I've had in years.
Just picked up Mr Miracle on your recommendation, it's good. Might have to go back and read Sheriff of Babylon.
dude, I read the comic and it was freaking amazing, you are 100% right.
Mister Miracle is a miracle to the comic industry.
