Fora que nessa luta, se fosse somente um duelo, o primeiro golpe do Meruem não seria arrancar a perna do Netero e sim arrancar a cabeça devorar o corpo e ficar ainda mais forte. Faz uns 15 anos que eu li essa luta no mangá e quanto mais o tempo passa mais eu percebo que o Meruem é desnecessáriamente apelão e tudo que ele fez durante a vida foi ficar sentado jogando Gungi.

Ain't no way a human could react to one of his nen attacks and they hit really hard. Meruem bleed with the first strike when he didn't defend himself. So Isaac probably got bored and his will, which influence his nen, got corroded leading to him becoming weaker.

It's also stated by Zeno during his appearence on the Spiders arc on York how old age is weakening him and again when Zeno said that Netero's strength defied logic as he was already old when he was born and is still absurdly strong. So it's not Netero being modest when he said to Morel that he's weaker because he's old and that Morel was already stronger than he is, not because someone like the Zodiacs or Morel surpassed his strenght when he was on his prime... he just got old, HXH do not ride the trope of the older you get the stronger you are like in other animes, it's just that netero was so absurdly strong that even when he's this old he's still on par with the top hunters of the present.
