i now understand why this arc was so well loved. the start was slow but the payoff was excellent. there's so many great and nerve wracking moments, it introduced a lot of characters and even the antagonists are not entirely one sided.
They way Mereum went from completely evil without a trace of humanity to a being without no hostility at all who wanted spend his last moments with a human is incredible.
I love how realistic hxh is. Even the strongest man in the world isn’t strong enough to take a down a serious threat. So they use bombs like humans normally would.
Man this arc was so well written, especially the character development of Meruem and Gon the way Meruem went from evil to a caring man, and Gon the person who wouldn't wanna hurt a soul to an absolute killing machine without any remorse
the only thing they did mess up is kite’s relationship with gon. It seem more that gon cares for a random dude his dad knew, IF you havent read the manga. The manga did it really good tbh.

chimera ant just felt like a whole different show when i was half way watching it i completely forgot about the hunters, it really amazes me how much 1 arc could change the anime
At first we always saw Gon as the easy going kid with a happy smile no matter how bad everything turns out. But this arc showed us the monstrous and unforgiving nature that lies within him.
Yea and Meruem became more human-like thanks to getting closer to komugi while gon became like that bc he started to separate from killua :( the two main duos parallel each other i think
@@cokechang I think togashi don't want them to crosspaths because it will kind of ruin their separation or differences, and in this arc gon is selfish which makes sense because at the end of the day he is still a kid
I love Neferpitou the most out of all the villains. They knew what Mereum wanted, and did what was needed. I felt sadness when they were killed in that way.

This anime….. I had no idea what was waiting for me in this arc. From the silly and funny hunter exam arc to the more serious and actiony yorknew arc, I learned that this show can change it’s feel very quickly. The chimera ants were very scary to me and I hated them for what happened at the beginning. Later, I realized that they did what they had to. All in all, this anime is incredible and would totally recommend to people into action anime.
Everyone's been talking how sad it is to see kite and meruem die and although I agree, you gotta admit that it was kind of heartbreaking in a way to see gon who was such a good hearted kid, spiral into mindless rage while at the same time ignoring his friends and casting them aside as if they weren't even there.
Imagine meeting a person who saved his life as a child got him closer to meet his own father, kite was the closest picture of a father he ever had.. and suddenly soon after meeting this person again he loses his arm saving him then gets killed in a humiliating way ..
Tbh Gon was always crazy. He never cared that Killua was an assassin, watched as a man’s heart got ripped right out of his chest with a big smile, and sacrificed a poor old man so he could get Hisoka’s badge. We should’ve saw this coming lmao.

Hunter x Hunter is such a masterpiece. Many people don't like Chimera Ant Arc, and I gotta admit, I hated it at first watch, too. But man... re-watching HxH hit hard... really hard. I was so stupid and immature, thinking lowly of Chimera Ant arc, even skipping it at the first re-watch. *Chimera Ant is the best arc in the anime, and Meruem is such a great, great character with the best character development I've ever seen.* No matter how many times I watch HxH, Chimera Ant hits me hard every single time. What a masterpiece.
Man, meruem has got to be the greatest character ever in anime history. Starting off as vicious and ignorant being not knowing how the world works, and by meeting an outcast who's only redeeming factor is her skill in shogi, understood what it means to become human. At the end of the arc, he became more human than the rest of the species that considered him as a monster, (Gon became a machine solely to satisfy his revenge, netero resorting to malice just to meet his selfish ideals).

It's so sad to know that this anime will end one say as well and the age will pass. Similar things happened in the past with all those quality cartoons like chinchan, tom and Jerry, courage the cowardly dog, Dexter's laboratory, and many more. The age just passed the creators died and those cartoons never saw the light again. The age just went by. I don't see life the same anymore. Life just doesn't seem right. This unnecessary urge to end it is crazy. Despite me being so young just feels so crazy I just want it to end as soon as possible on its own tbh. Hxh like animes keep the life awake in me. But the death dominates me.
This encapsulates perfectly why the Chimera Ant arc was a Togashi masterpiece. It displayed the extreme lengths humanity would go to maintain their hegemony of the food chain. Gon's rage and Netero's poor man's rose are just a few examples...
This arc felt like it was its own series. I stopped watching after it ended cause I felt like the series ended and I needed a break before starting something new, as I usually do.
One things is always shocking that Meruem and Gon never met, nor killua. It feels like everyone had a battle of their own there was no any specific path to anything.
The Chimera ant arc truly is a genuis piece of storytelling that hits you in your heart. Hunter X Hunter is a masterful and amazing series. Every time I hear this song, I feel like crying. Maybe it’s when I think back on how amazing HxH is and how much I love it

It's so amazing that all the deaths that meruem has caused, the only thing he ever loved was one human being. Komugi, the one who played gungi with him, I actually felt kinda bad for meruem when he and komugi died together.

I was so stupid and immature, thinking lowly of Chimera Ant arc, even skipping it at the first re-watch. *Chimera Ant is the best arc in the anime, and Meruem is such a great, great character with the best character development I've ever seen.* No matter how many times I watch HxH, Chimera Ant hits me hard every single time. What a masterpiece.
Man, meruem has got to be the greatest character ever in anime history. Starting off as vicious and ignorant being not knowing how the world works, and by meeting an outcast who's only redeeming factor is her skill in shogi, understood what it means to become human. At the end of the arc, he became more human than the rest of the species that considered him as a monster, (Gon became a machine solely to satisfy his revenge, netero resorting to malice just to meet his selfish ideals).

And even netero himself was convinced, but he knew he shouldnt compromise since its his mission to stop him. Humanity as it is wouldnt survive in the world of HxH, since news flash theres the dark continent, If they get invaded by stronger creatures, humanity that netero desperately tried to save would still be wiped out and 2nd, with the cooperation with meruem, venturing to the dark continent would increase its success and even reduce casualty.

It's so sad to know that this anime will end one say as well and the age will pass. Similar things happened in the past with all those quality cartoons like chinchan, tom and Jerry, courage the cowardly dog, Dexter's laboratory, and many more. The age just passed the creators died and those cartoons never saw the light again. The age just went by. I don't see life the same anymore. Life just doesn't seem right. This unnecessary urge to end it is crazy. Despite me being so young just feels so crazy I just want it to end as soon as possible on its own tbh. Hxh like animes keep the life awake in me. But the death dominates me.

The Chimera ant arc truly is a genuis piece of storytelling that hits you in your heart. Hunter X Hunter is a masterful and amazing series. Every time I hear this song, I feel like crying. Maybe it’s when I think back on how amazing HxH is and how much I love it

hxh A masterpiece, and Togashi is a great anime-making author who departed from the usual Scheonen anime style.
I think Togashi is probably the best shonen mangaka of all times. Both Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter X Hunter are some of the best series of the genre.
