Hi Greg. I'm a teacher of English in Brazil. You're an excellent teacher and should be an inspiration to all the teachers in Brazil. You encourage foreigner teachers to be pride of speaking English as a second language. Thanks a lot. I do appreciate you British accent!
Greg, as a Brazilian and an English teacher I must praise your channel. Your explanations are awesome. Despite I have an American English influence I'm able to understand you perfectly. Is your accent from Yorkshire? I would say that your accent is R.P (lol) because your pronunciation is excellent and comprehensive at all. Thanks for sharing your contents with us. ❤
I thought I didn't understand native speakers... I've been talking to the English for half a year and I can't understand them. Until I heard you! Absolutely pure! I realized it's NOT MY PROBLEM! This is their terrible pronunciation))) Greg, you are amazing!!
Oh dear, he's a Northerner... thought so. They had one of those at Haymarket last year - he insisted on greeting everybody he met. Big confusion say the least, but the police couldn't really do much, partly as he promised to return home ASAP, partly because expressing kindness to complete strangers won't be against the law until next year. Greg is great! I love this.
Like Great encouragement My customer from USA said me after our first business conversation: "If I understand what you are talking about - your English is good. That's all"
❤ I remember how 25 years ago a very kind English gentleman said to me :"Dear, don't worry. Your English is much better than my Russian". It helped me through tough times of doubts and insecurity. God bless all patient and kind people 🙏
You are my myth! I am Italian and I have been living in Oxfordshire for a year, of which half spent at home.I had a lot of trouble at work at first, I didn’t understand anything that customers said me, but now, everyday is better🙂. Thanks for your video, I must say that It made me move😊
😭😭😭😭😭yes!!!! I must have apologized to a dozen times in my audio assignments on WhatsApp to you!!! 😅😁😁😁!!! I don't know how to say thank you anymore, you are an amazing teacher and person!
I am exactly that person. Your video really brought me to tears. I'll stop doing that and hopefully enjoy my upcoming stay in Liverpool a lot more. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙂
The real problem is that anyone should take up learning English which is lingua Franca as children . I remember being a student at school, not much long ago..and all of my English teachers were unable to do their job. All we did was useless exercises…they didn’t even pay attention to spoken English. I’m learning now myself as far as I can ,I’m 34 years old…and I focus on spoken English,on sounds . Then I open the Oxford to look for the verbs I don’t know. All I do is that and writing a vocabulary for every situation. Eg what are the nouns and the verbs needed on a bus ? At the station ? To go on holiday ? It’s a way not to get bored with the language as I’m studying on my own. And I gotta say: your videos are useful. Keep up the good work.
You're the best English Coach, really 🎉🎉 yesterday I was just thinking: my English is not as good as I wish 😢 and I felt bad about the fact I have been learning English for years. Today I woke up, checked my email and found this video in my email inbox. It was perfect to start my day ☺️. My self esteem really needed it. Thanks a lot 👍😊
Thanks Greg, can't believe what a great teacher you are. I worked as a secretary and was good in written English but when it came to speaking I was always scary. Phone calls were the worst thing of all for me. Now I'm more confident. Some years ago I had a neighbor from the States who told me that my accent (German) was lovely. I was very happy! BTW, I love your British accent very much.
🤣🤣🤣 I have said that a couple of times !!! That's a very very latin american way of being !!! Good input and advice. Many thanks from Santiago, Chile. I love your English classes and enthusiasm !¡
Such a great video! Being able to communicate in a language that isn’t your native one is amazing and as long as you get your message across then there’s no issue! 🤗
You're absolutely right. you have to learn the language without having to worry about the accent. that's what makes us unique, especially since there isn't a single accent to speak English.
Thank you for your "encouragement" of your students. I am a German and I have experienced, talking with an other not-english-native person , is often very easy. But another thing I would like to say, with the people in / from GB, conversations are nice and easy for me (they know, how hard it is to communicate in another language - American are also polite, but they often don't know about the difficulties)
You're great! You got the point...actually I used to be, at the opposite, a bit upset when years ago I found myself in trouble chatting with a native speaker and the guy seemed not to care about, keeping speak fast and without any attempt to rephrase.
Greg, I do this all the Time, thanks to you. I recently got to know your site. For me you are the only teacher that I understand 99%. I pass my TOEIC I have very little Time to revise , you help me so much. Your last vidéo before this one was not for me, but today you make my heart lighter. Thank you for everything. Berenice
I have learnt German and I am still learning it and I am working on my English, which I have forgotten a bit. It's really not easy. You have encouraged me a lot, thank you very much. ☺
English is my 3rd language. I learn it before 30 years at school. Nobody care how we learned. So as i apologize about my broke english. Bad grammar. Bad pranounciation. . And I came to live in Scotland. So terrible. I dont understand scotland acent. thank you, Greg, about encouraging! I hope with your video i will get more confidence.
I watched the video carefully and I feel more confident now. I know I'll not get a British accent like yours....but I'm trying. Thank you for your support and help.
Hi Greg! Thank you very much for this video, because you summed up everything my grandson fears , (he studies English and German). He is afraid of making mistakes when speaking in foreign language and I keep asking him WHY? I keep telling him: be proud that you know a different language (we are Czechs) and that you are able to communicate in English or German. And as you said - no one sensible cares about grammar. Judging by myself, I highly appreciate it when a foreigner speaks Czech, even if he or she makes mistakes. Because I know that he or she is not a native speaker and is trying to speak the language I've been learning since I was a little girl. And now it's confirmed from you. I can't wait for my grandson to come to class again and I'll show him this video. We're watching your videos and I must say, they're great! We love them.
This is such great encouragement, Greg👏👏. Learning a foreign language is a long, hard and brave journey that does demand investment, time and a great deal of dedication.
Thank you Greg you make me believe in my self more and more...... i´m really able to talk in English, with some wrongs, but my friends in NY and London can understand me 100%.
Greg thanks for your vídeo... sometine I think my english is wrong and I feel bad when I dont understand conversation... your vídeo motivate and help me.
This Topic you're talking about is very important for English learners like me. The most of UA-cam English teachers have taught us how to speak like a north American as if it's the only way of speaking English. Then we all try to learn American accent.
Greg, I add my praise to that of all the others herein You have said that speakers of ESL should not worry about "accent". We all have an accent, you correctly say. You say, though, that you speak with a Yorkshire accent, and, indeed, as a native speaker of western U.S. English, I have no trouble at all understanding you. I must say, though, that that is not the case with other college-educated "Yorkshiremen" whom I know. Indeed, with one, a close friend and U.S. resident for years, I miss 30-50 percent of what he says and have to ask him to repeat things or even write them down for me to understand him. "Closed captions" would be a big help--at least to me--in our conversations. So, your UK English, it seems to me, must be very close to "RP", despite your having a "Yorkshire accent". That's why I'm not hesitant to recommend your lessons to my diligent English-language students in Japan.
Hi Sir 😚😌 you're the best teacher and I appreciate it.and with your this video, my morals has grown up really. I have gotten so much fun from your appreciation this video obviously.😆 haha it was pretty good 😘 and great content 👍🙂😊 thanks a million times ☺️ good luck 🤞😌
Sometimes people online tell me that my english is terrible but at this point I think that they just say it because they are incapable of writing a counter point since it usually happens when I am in an argument. I am not saying that my english is perfect, not even close, but I definitely think that someone that knows english should be at least capable of understand what I write.
Ciao Greg, your lesson has been a relief definitely - I have been studying English for a long time, since I was in London and I can tell you that it's a wonderful language, I love it! Your lesson makes me feel more comfortable and confident and I can also tell you that I don't mind making mistakes, I just jump into the language and I have understood that through mistakes you can learn more! By for now - have a good day and keep teaching us - God bless you beso Roby 😀
Thank you for your lesson about CONFIDENCE ! I DO TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE THE BEST TEACHER THAT TEACHES ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PAST TENSE AND THE PRESENT PERFECT TENSE! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!👏👏👏👏
