It may be that your dogs are used to life outside. But you can still see how happy they are to cuddle and play with you. They are so intelligent, they immediately recognize that you are giving them a special day 😃

Even under very challenging conditions, you can still make an excellent video! I hope Stacey feels better soon and you recover from 4 dogs in the house 😊❤
This Storm Babet (named after a Dutchwoman who won a competition) has been very remarkable, because - I reckon this has never happened before - it has affected the entire UK and Republic of Ireland, from the Channel Isles to Shetland. There have been two main problems with it: blocked by an airmass over Scandinavia, the storm "got stuck"; it "came from the wrong direction" - from the south-east, instead from the west-south-west, the prevailing wind. Therefore, areas less-used to wet and windy conditions - like East Scotland and Suffolk, have been getting the worst of it. Because it can't move aware, the rain has kept on coming. Severe flood warnings - which indicate a danger to life - are rare. But we have kept having them in the past week sp. Part of Eastern Scotland has had two, but they have had them on the Welsh Border and now in Nottinghamshire. 3 or 4 people have been killed. So not only Sean, but also myself, living the West Midlands of England, have suffered from the wind and downpours.
Thanks for the info about the weather. We live in Georgia, USA. Years ago we were on an Island on the Georgia Coast when a Tropical Storm developed quickly. It was a night with 40mph plus winds. Very Scary!!
Aberdeenshire, Angus, Perthshire and parts of Fife. Red Weather warnings for flooding. yes, Breechin, in the County of Angus have had these Home evacuations. It seems to be calming down now.
Interesting. I have resided in Australia my whole life. 12 years ago my Dad sent me a 3 page back to back letter explaining to me 200 years ago this very decade a forefather of his got on a ship in England with his wife, 2 little boys and an infant girl. The baby girl died and had to be buried at sea due to disease. I cried when I read it, the conditions would have been dreadful and it would have taken months. I think Gaelic is a beautiful language.
Talk about a blustery soppy storm. Lived in Aberdeenshire for two years and visit Scotland regularly. Had a Cocker Spaniel, my son let her out in fenced back garden. Called me at work saying, this sweet dog wants to come in the house. 😳 Upon arrival from work, this gorgeous Collie ate a hole in the fence to mate with my spaniel. 😟 🤦🏼♀️ Nature, what can you do… firm believer in “fixing” my dogs. Biggest difference i can see is the life of a working versus family pet environment. Much respect and hope you, Stacy are on the mend. ✨💖✨
Comment on the spay/neuter. I agree with not getting animals spayed/neutered unless it's necessary, especially with working animals. You'd want good stock available to breed and you can't know that until they're older. That said, it also requires diligent, attentive owner responsibility to prevent a population explosion, and too many people aren't that diligent or attentive.
Wet, mucky ground from the previous storm, leaves still on the trees, plus high winds are prime conditions for breaking off limbs and bringing down trees. Babet is really wrecking havoc. It’s almost completely stalled in its forward movement. Feel better soon!
This video was actually so wonderful as we could see much more of the nature of the dogs and your relationship with them. Have you ever known the weather to be like this in your lifetime? Please stay safe, thinking of you all over there in my Dads home land.
Ooofff. Those pups have ENERGY!!! It's so cute to see adult dogs bouncing around like lil pups😊 I was laughing when Monty gave you the side eye when asked if he wanted to go outside😂 They are all so loyal and lovable, such good bubbas❤🐶
Yay! Day off, enjoy, you all need a day of rest and cuddles! Rain will stop eventually. No big deal, love each other and enjoy each other's company. They are only here for a short time. Cherish each other!!❤
"Hey Dad, today's a GREAT day to WORK !: "In case you were wondering, Dad, today is a GREAT day to WORK." "Why are we sitting around being couch potatoes WHEN we should be enjoying such a GREAT day for WORKING ??" The way Storm is relating to you while you are explaining things, reminds me SO MUCH of my guy. He's actually HERDING YOU... using LOVE to work you.
Great video. Anyone that really loves dogs absolutely knows, that no matter how much you dry them after they get wet and dirty, they will get on the furniture, hence the necessity for throws. If you care about how your home looks and smells, then an active, properly looked after pooch is not for you.
I remember I heard once that if the rain is coming straight down it's a braw day in Scotland. I must have had the best of luck when I visited Scotland years ago - it was so mild and hardly any wind the entire week I was there and nothing but mist in the morning (in December)
What a great life. My Storm and I are sitting here in FLA, on a chilly morning, watching your vid. I adore how much you love your dogs...it is so heartwarming to see centuries of breeding, mixed with your training and knowledge; producing such stable, intelligent pups. Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your life w/ your pack.
Your dogs are beautiful and awesome. I have 2 now. A female and her sire and they interact with each other beautifully. Hope you both get well soon and are safe.
Beautiful, happy dogs! I have mine spayed but mine are also just house dogs , and i clearly see the values and choices you made for yours as it makes perfect sense , these are working dogs , which they obviously love and one would not want to neauter them as they also are valuable for breeding as you will need another generation soon and and proven line such as theirs will command respect and price point. You are a farm, not a petting zoo and every one and thing must contribute for the good of the whole or its worthless.
Sure hope you both get back to feeling well soon. Thanks for sharing your house cuddles with the pups (Monty's eyes are SO sweet). Hopefully babet gets out of their quickly, so y'all can dry out & clean up. Cheers! That'll do 😊
The dogs seemed happy to be inside with their favorite people & yummy snacks. That is some wild weather up there, glad you weren't flooded out or evacuated. I loved the look Archie gave you when you asked if he wanted to go out to toilet, like "No, YOU go out if you think it's such a great idea!" Take care with yourselves & the dogs, b/c/ winter is definitely upon you!
My cousin has a Great Pyrenees for her farm. She is a true outside dog. The only time they bring her inside for inclement weather or severe thunderstorms. One day after a heavy snow, I saw this snowdrift breathing by my window lo and behold it was Minnie the Great Pyrenees taking a nap outside.
Border collies are tough bred, wonderful working dogs. In Australia they live outside too - they adapt to their environment. Lighter coats. It was a shock for me to see a British show type dog for the 1st time. It hated town life and was brought out to the mixed farm to live. Such a full coat and thicker legs.
Your climate is very similar to ours in Grayland/Westport, Wa, USA. We have cranberry bogs - no livestock around here - but there is in other communities nearby. I very much enjoy watching your vids - your work and your dog crew are so fun. Nice to see a breed doing what it was bred to do: play/work in the fields. My fav: Kate. xox
Sean, I am so glad you bring your furry kids in the house during storms. I always made sure my furry kids were in the house when it storms. I don't have them anymore. I lost one (Yorkie, Mojo) in 2022 and exactly 1-year after I lost my other one (German Spitz, Daphne). I miss them so so much. They were my kids. Mojo and Daphne always knew when a storm was coming before I did. Dogs have keen senses. But it could be a beautiful day with blue skies and sun, but Mojo and Daphne would act differnelty and sure enough we would have a thunderstorm or snowstorm 1 or 2 hours later. But so glad you bring you furry kids in when there is inclement weather.
Thanks for lovely update, the dogs would have thought they were on holidays and was good to keep them safe and you inside. Glad you and Stacey on the mend. Horrible storm.
Brr, just watching that wind blowing makes me feel cold! Also LOL at Sean trying to talk to the camera with dogs demanding his attention. They're such wonderful creatures!
When I was growing up in Oklahoma (USA) we had a Black/White Border Collie and she was an amazing dog. We lived in the suburbs and didn't have any sheep, but we had a large vegetable garden and Missy would herd toads up and keep them in the garden! She lived to be 18 yrs. old and had white "eyebrows" like one of your dogs have! I love watching you with your dogs!
So sorry you're both under the weather, looks like your living with four toddlers~~~!!!!! Nice have a warm bowl of soup and coffee or tea, puppy sleep over!! feel better soon, those dogs are lovers!! precious! Kristine Scarpetti, Chicago
Absolutely correct re neutering esp if one opts to neuter their dog to wait until the dog is 2 yrs or older. Studies have shown significant joint protection is given by waiting until the dog is well intoadulthood. Vets here in the states push hard to do it as young as 3-4 months old! Mainly bc owners may not do it later so its done early just to check it off the list essentially. Also any rescue or humane society will not even adopt a dog out intact which is great for keeping people from breeding their dogs but not the best practice for the dogs health. If you have a house dog please DO neuter it tho!
Grateful the worst of the flooding hasn't affected you. Some areas are inundated. No doubt the pups are so happy to be with you and Stacey. Hope you both feel better very soon.
storm is such a flirt she and echo have such a strong bond, they work together too, its beautiful to see "normal" dogs that are obedient, happy, well loved...is the perfect situation...surely not the same to see a sherman shepard living in NY in an apartment
Thank you! I have been waiting for this video and your explanation about why it is important to keep working dogs outside. We are new to border collie ownership but also kennel my son's two pups outside, something he knew to do intuitively. You explain the reasoning behind it so well, validating his choice. I learned a lot by listening to your explanation. We are in Florida, USA, so it would be a shock to our dogs to go from the air conditioning inside (about half of the year) to the extreme heat outside to work. This video was sweet, to see you spending the day with your dogs inside on a lovely stormy day. We also deal with storms and even hurricanes, and sometimes have to bring the pups inside. They are still puppies (less than one year old) so it can get pretty wild! It is sweet to see you and your dogs during a lovely stormy day. Love your channel.
They like the cold weather of Scotland so prefer outdoor Kennels but Never chained up. I hope you can give them plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to fulfill their needs. They need a job to do. Agility exercises are a must for this Breed if they are not Working Dogs. They will get very bored and frustrated if they have nothing to do all day. They are not so much a Pet, unlike many other breeds. They need to run free and exercised for a minimum of 3 hrs a Day off lead. A Dog Park will not cut it for a Border Collie or be being left alone all Day with nothing to do. I Can't imagine any Collie liking Florida. I know I would hate to live there. Hot, busy, noisy, guns going off and police and Ambulance sirens 24,/7 would be Hell. I'm just being honest here and despite the Scottish climate, me and my Collie are blessed with the quiet, peaceful, beautiful Country, surrounded by Sea, Beaches, Lochs, Hills and Mountains. 🏴
Scotland is beautiful. Most of my ancestors are from there, having emigrated to here in the early 1600s or shortly thereafter. Florida is a beautiful state with amazing diversity of flora and fauna. Don't believe everything you hear or see online about Florida. We live in the country on beautiful forested land that is our Eden. We own even more acreage close by that is also in the country, forested, peaceful, and beautiful, our family legacy property from my parents. Our well draws from the pristine springs that also feed the Weeki Wachee springs and river. In fact, we live in bear country, so the kennels keep our dogs safe when we are not right there with them. Our border collies are purebred, AKC registered and both parents are ABCA registered, so they definitely want to work, were born to work. That's why we got them, not to be pets living outside. They were bred in Mississippi so have been used to a hot climate from birth and prefer to be outside even in our hot climate for all of the reasons you state, and then some. They get plenty of freedom to run and explore. They get their agility training with us and each other and love rambling over the 20-yard tree mulch piles we have brought in on a regular basis (mountains to them). I cannot imagine keeping this breed or any breed with similar needs in an apartment and depending on walks or dog parks to fulfill their need for exercise and stimulation. (In fact, I don't think I would take any dog to a dog park). Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Our puppies are well cared for and well loved. If a working dog should be kept outside in a cold climate so that it can acclimatize, it should also be kept outside in a generally hot climate for the same reason, although this winter is predicted to be especially cold in Florida. We'll keep an eye on that and are already making plans and preparations to keep the pups safe and comfortable. @@phoenixrising5088
@@kablevins Thank you so much for your enlightening comment. I really didn't know that Florida had such a diverse Landscape. It sound beautiful. Your Collie's will love all that space and freedom. I'm delighted that you totally consider their needs. As they were born and bred there, then I can understand that they acclimatise to the Heat. Thanks again, for educating me on Florida. 😘🥰🏴
My pleasure. Before we moved here in 1975, as newlyweds, I had pictured Florida as a coast-to-coast retirement village! We all have our learning curves. @@phoenixrising5088
You need a generator for power outs, glad you explained why the dogs are kennelled outside. Buts it's nice they can come inside as well. Lovely dogs. Spaying/neutering has both pros and cons the vets never tell you the cons. I have 2 border collies on the west coast of Vancouver Island. They are not working dogs and living outside when we can get 14 feet of rain in the winter just isn't feasible. But you dogs are just wonderful.
I'm so happy to have found your channel! It's obvious that you have a deep love and understanding of your dogs. And they love and understand you as well. I wish you and Stacy a speedy recovery!
Kate cracks me up she is so into spying even in the back yard and loves her kennel as well outside. She takes her treat and heads away from the others. LOL always good for a laugh watching her !
Crazy times… there was a video I was of a guy walking his dog in Stirlingshire, where he filmed the wind lifting up the ground, trees and all before it settled back down. Glad to see that the family is safe, take care.
Wishing that you and your wife are feeling better 🌹 And hopefully all of the areas in Scotland hit by the strong storm and floods are able to recover quickly. Enjoyed your video of having the dogs inside 😄
We have many Border Collies in the US. I even have one that is nervous, like Kate and her very bold sister. Like most Borders, she is an excellent watch dog that enjoys attacking the water coming out of a garden hose.
Thank you for your videos. I truly enjoy every one of them. Fun for me to see your life and you also provide education as to your life and the dogs. Love the dogs.
Being stuck in a house with 4 dogs in bad weather...my idea of heaven! Put the kettle on!
Yes please. Milk and one 😂
Agreed!
I totally agree!!
Yes, please - with milk and sugar, if you don't mind !!😂 I've got a sweet tooth !!
😆 my dogs are fluffy and they have to go out every hour or so to get utterly sodden so they can hurl themselves into my lap again.
Your dogs know they are loved. I’ve had border collies and they are the most loving and intelligent companions we could hope for.
Whiskey, Honey, and lemon, heals all!
It may be that your dogs are used to life outside. But you can still see how happy they are to cuddle and play with you. They are so intelligent, they immediately recognize that you are giving them a special day 😃
Kate and Stormi are so affectionate toward Sean.
we had a border collie and her favourite job was to keep rounding us up when out for walks; they are lovely creatures
Love these dogs. Theyre working dogs but they love their cuddles
I've had 4 sheep in the house, so 4 sheepdogs is fair enough 😁
I had 4 ponies in the house during a winterstorm 😁😁

I love watching the dogs work and how much they love it. I’m in Southern California.
Awesome you keep the doggies intact! Learned the hard way of spaying and neutering as they age , so great call Sean! Love your videos 😍🙏🐾
You are so kind
Crazy times… there was a video I was of a guy walking his dog in Stirlingshire, where he filmed the wind lifting up the ground, trees and all before it settled back down. Glad to see that the family is safe, take care.
Wishing that you and your wife are feeling better 🌹 And hopefully all of the areas in Scotland hit by the strong storm and floods are able to recover quickly. Enjoyed your video of having the dogs inside 😄
Glad you are all safe. The dogs seemed to be enjoying a day of snuggles with ya.
Thanks
it's obvious everyone is enjoying this cozy day together, lovely video thank you. ❤
Sean, I see your fly reels at the start. I bet a lot of us would love to see a video of you fishing at a Scottish trout stream.
We have many Border Collies in the US. I even have one that is nervous, like Kate and her very bold sister. Like most Borders, she is an excellent watch dog that enjoys attacking the water coming out of a garden hose.
She sounds great
Thank you for your videos. I truly enjoy every one of them. Fun for me to see your life and you also provide education as to your life and the dogs. Love the dogs.
I just love watching the dogs run! Thank you
Your dogs are like mine, can’t hold their licker. My dog just loves to sneak a lick in whenever she can.
Love Monty. (Your white dog, not sure i have his name right). He has the sweetest look to him. He wanted to be the one next to you on the couch. Cute!
Oh my gosh, I love all of your dogs!! The way they look at you🥰 I hope Stacey is feeling better by now. That soup she made looked really good.
Sean you keep such great care of the dogs. ❤❤ keep healthy be safe.
