You're the first out with a lore analysis of the video I think. I wonder if it was meant to come out last week and had to be delayed. It's interesting how everything Fontaine says about "don't believe your eyes" is 180 degrees from what Nicole says about "only believe what you see" and that Nicole is feature again in the 4.2 trailer/preview video. Deceiving fate could be a samsara reference here (if fate is a force of nature), or it could be referring to a specific person or faction (whoever created the curse / whoever Neuvillette apologizes to). Feels like the former. In that case my analysis of the Makoto-Sakura samsara shift does involve a deception of sorts of fate itself (as written up ages ago). Well it's probably not the way they will go but...... the idea is that the Irminsul tree's ability to change fate is dependent (at least for most people with little power such as gods) on making the Irminsul tree behave as if what you're trying to achieve is a "small shift". Because as Nicole says a small shift "the tree sways" can happen but if you try to displace the tree, that isn't going to work. So if you want to accurately manipulate Irminsul to big effect - as Makoto did - you need to deceive fate itself into thinking the change you're requesting is small. You're just swaying the tree. And this can be very tricky. For example let's say you want a huge tree to suddenly appear in Inazuma that has been there for thousands of years fighting against the Abyssal mud. Obviously a big change, obviously "displace the tree" area, bound to fail, right? But what if instead all you want to do is have a god that's been around for thousands of years, fighting for Inazuma, and being worshipped in Inazuma, be replaced with the same god in the form of a tree? Gods can switch out bodies with a little effort. How is that a big change? It's no worse than Scaramouche changing his clothes. So Makoto becomes the Sakura tree. And she always has been. That's why Inazuma uniquely in all nations, worships a tree and not the Archon. That's why they have a tree fighting for them. That's why people are confused over whether there's one sister or two. So Makoto deceives fate into thinking her desired change to fate is "small" - a swaying of the tree, and not an attempt to displace the tree. And so it works. Maybe Furina means something like that? Probably not :)
I really like that take on it, I never thought of how the shift was indeed a small one from it execution but massive in it's intent. Its sort of similar with Sumeru where the people forgetting something is not actually that big but what they have forgotten changes the world. Perhaps what Furina means is it needs to appear as though the flood already happened. I don't know lol but this teaser was really thought provoking and now her demo is named after that same hangout quests of Kaeya's. The khaenri'ahns no far more than they are letting on I think. Anyway Thanks for commenting, I always enjoy reading your point of view.
For me, the message is a dream she is making or her thoughts put visually for us. Interesting detail about Furina's outfit (spoilers for the archon quest and her story quest) she wears her white outfit when she is playing the Archon Focalors but after, when she can be her true self she is wearing black.
That is a lovely and sad way to look at it. Furina really did suffer tremendous mental anguish to uphold her side of the ruse and knowing now what Neuvillette says in his character story about how Focalors handed him her seat in the audience, it give more poetic irony to this message from her in which for most of it when playing the Archon she is in the cast as the title says, but when she is in her black clothes of her genuine self she is now in the audience. I turned out to enjoy this character far more than I thought I would.
I haven't read all the lore about natlan yet but based on what Neuvillette said I'm starting to wonder about ursa the drake, from the Manga who was chasing Vanessa, and whether Diluc’s dad had anything to do with Natlans situation. It definitely seems like that thing would be a dragon that live amongst the human as Neuvillette described. Also it's got to be climatic because the Fatui should get the last gnosis there since they will already have the Tsaritsa's. I can say anything for sure yet but natlan is going to be awesome.
Rewatching your videos because I can't wait to hear your analysis of the new quests!! Your voice is so calming ❤
Thank you so much, I already have my next video in post production now, should only be a couple of days. 😁
