    Totally agree with you that gold color on bronson is the best color of santa cruz. And I am lucky to have the same one as yours.

    I ran the cascade link for almost a year with a super deluxe ultimate air. I ran the 38 up front with 170. It was pretty easy to set the suspension up with it being air and clicking dials. The bike was fast and rode big. I went back to the stock link after warrantying my front triangle and riding more regular trail.
    But, the link is back on. I love running it in the 160mm configuration. Less pedal strikes, and much better traction in the rear

      Glad to hear your liking it too! I've been riding mine for a bit now and I like it! It makes the bike track better for sure. And to be honest, it doesn't make the bike feel much bigger in my opinion. So far, I'm liking the link and the increase in travel on the fork, but only time will tell what I think about it after I get some more riding in on it.

    I have a v4 nomad. I’m leaning towards getting the CC link for it. The shock is the old superdeluxe air. I already have the fork at 180. My main goal is to stay higher in the travel and avoid pedal strikes

    • @thebigoutsidemtb
      @thebigoutsidemtb  6 місяців тому

      If your looking to up the travel, and progressivity to the bike, then the Cascade link is a good option. I have limited ride time on mine and have yet to fully diel it in yet. But even just the fist ride I felt it. I don't think the link increases BB Hight on neither the Bronson nor Nomad, so that won't change. But it will help with mid stroke support do to the linkage curve with the CL.

  • @HD-on2eg
    @HD-on2eg 7 місяців тому +2

    I have a Nomad with the CC link. You definitely have to increase the the spring rate by quite a bit due to the increased leverage. I’m 175# and on a 600# spring. The link on the Nomad is great overall. The only downsides is the increase in chainstay length making it harder to lift the front wheel, and with increasing the travel in the rear, you will also get more pedal strikes when deep in the travel. Other than that, the link is totally awesome. But for sure, increase your spring rate by 50-100# if on a Fox SLS coil. It’s gonna take you a while to really dial everything in. But once you do, you’ll be stoked!

    • @thebigoutsidemtb
      @thebigoutsidemtb  7 місяців тому

      I figured that out quickly... Whenever I increased spring rate with the Springdex, it just felt better, and better. I have since added an EXT Storia LOK V3 to the bike, and when I had it tuned for the link, they said I would want a #500 spring and I'm 165lbs. So far, with one ride, it feels well supported, but still a bit harsh. I have a lot going on with this bike and setup so it makes sense that it is taking longer then I'm used too, to get this bike feeling the way I want it too. All part of the process though. Throughout the years of me trying to tune my fork and shock, I'm getting to the point where I sort of know what I'm doing. Makes tuning a lot more enjoyable and faster 😅

      @@thebigoutsidemtb I have a Ext Storia V3 on my Bronson V4 standard at 150mm and in bike parks on braking bumps the rear does not bother me at all, only the front end, so im also thinking of going to 170mm, but front only.

    • @thebigoutsidemtb
      @thebigoutsidemtb  5 місяців тому +1

      @@jonibz1456 Honestly. I wouldn't bump up the front for braking bumps. It wont not do much. Breaking bumps are more of a sensitivity thing, not a travel thing. If you have already played around with the settings, I would look into the Luftkappe. It helped a lot with the suspension curve on my 36, and now my 38. What it does, is it changes the curve of the fork to make it more supple off the top (good for breaking bumps) and ramps up more at the end of the stroke to help with support and bottom out. Something else to keep in mind, you can never fully eliminate breaking bumps with suspension, but you can help it.

    • @jonibz1456

      @@thebigoutsidemtb Interesting! Thanks for the info. I currently have a EXT Era V2 on the front with burnished bushings, which have made it the best I can get it so far, I notice a difference in every click, the rebound is definitely where it should be, also the HSC and LSC. The main tweaking comes from playing with the air pressure in the main chamber.
      They have a 2.1 update which I may go for on its next service, which makes the negative chamber slightly bigger which if I remember right is kind of what the luftkapp does. So this may help.
      To be honest the fork was working really quite well on light constant breaking bumps, but would transfer the energy if there would suddenly be a couple of deep ones.
      Also I did feel with this fork I could do with a extra click of HSR, which it does not have, if I put one click faster on the rebound, the bumps did not feel so great, but I would get a little more pop on jumps. Maybe I can ask the service guys todo something internal with that, I’m already on a light tune due to my low riding weight.

    It’d be interesting to do a demo day at ucsc with a Nomad to compare once you dial in your Bromad, then you’d know how they truly all stack up. Personally love my gypsum color Nomad and the new dark blue is ok. Actually looks good once wrapped, same with any of the matte SC frame like your gold the metal flake pops more once wrapped but the yellow is gross and gypsum still the best they had.

    I went Bromad....then back again. I didn't love how much longer the Cascade link makes the chainstay.....6mm! Same as an XL size bike on my medium. The 170mm fork messed with tight corners but Im sure I would have gotten used to it... I'm running a coil with a 65mm stroke....no CL...gives the bike 162mm of rear travel.... without any geo changes.
