It's true! ☺️ Lordi took part and I think Nightwish ("Sleepwalker") came close to being chosen to represent Finland in 2000 or maybe 2001. Another time there was a beautiful staging of the cellists' song "Life burns" Apocalyptica with Lauri's voice in the background. I agree with everything, Finland is the best when it comes to rock and metal artists. I really like the music there!🎧🎶💪
I think they achieved something bigger than a victory - they reminded many people of themselves. Many of us, who listened to them years ago rediscovered the Rasmus and look forward to their new album which sounds so much like their old songs. I'm so proud of them!

No matter of Finland's dissapointed points this year Finland should continue to send rock/metal every year because it's not going to get better with pop music. And the fact that Finland was the only country that made it to the final with rock music shows that when it comes to rock music Finland does it best and the final place was well deserved. And watching The Rasmus in the contest was a "once in the lifetime" moment that I enjoyed watching 100%.
I think Finns would love to see real Finnish pop in Eurovision, the pop Finland has sent has been pretty "made for Eurovision". Real Finnish pop music is different.

Because I've listened to some of their songs and I've noticed that ulike their Nordic neighbours they often tend to sing about deep topics that aren't superficial. I know that this kind of pop is mainstream in Finland.

These big nations sing in their native language and they have succes with it mainly due to the fact that their languages are mainstream languages that are spoken by millions of people all over the world. They are being taught at school as foreign languages and Hollywood makes these languages even more popular. Just think of all the famous words like amore, bonjour, viva la vida, bon apetit or Mamma Mia that basically everyone has heard of and that they recognize. Finnish is the opposite of all of this. A language spoken by only 5-6 million people whose language is not being taught at school as a foreign language and that Hollywood doesn't popularize for the mainstream. It is no wonder that Sweden stopped singing in its own language over 20 years ago. The only advantage that Finnish has is the fact that it's a language that doesn't sound like anything else in Europe (except for Hungarian and Estonian). This makes Finnish a unique and maybe even an exotic language that people can't get enough of.
I've already been hearing it on my Rock radio station (Germany) every day since it came out and it still makes me smile, sing & bang my head the same way since day one. I love the upbeat energy it has! :D

If it would have been in the middle of all those ballads I think they would have stuck out even more, but yeah, I couldn't remember most of the songs at the voting, but this I did because the guitar was great, and it wasn't boring.
I think, I figured out why Finland got such a low vote: The people simply thought that it was unfair from Finland to send such a high quality band, with a long history of international success, in competition to all those newcomers. That's the only reason I can think of since The Rasmus delivered such a nice song and joyfull performance on stage :P
No, it's because it's a bland rock song. Let's say "In the shadows" was never released back in the day and it was their contribution this year they would've done much better.
@@bodzio_stawski187 for the ESC that's basically no playback. A lot of the contestants had a playback with vocal tracks that doubled the main vocals. Here it's just some background singers and the instrumental (which is obligatory to be playback). I would have said that people were put off by his exaggerated release of air of after each line (except for the last chorus for some reason?)

@@terielon Before the show a guy tells you what to do in certain songs, for example I was in Lisbon 2018 and it was like "we need you to turn your phone lights on with Spain, Lithuania and Ireland, and to shake your hands at the end of France". I just can't help myself, but Emppu is simply perfect here. She brings so much enegry to the whole show, her moves just fit the music. Of course the whole band did a perfect job, but I really feel like Emppu deserves to be mentioned and deserves so much credit here.
This is the best song in the history of Eurovision. I was sure they would be in the TOP-3, but... I didn't expect such a vote. Especially from Sweden, where rock is also a religion. But I still love Rasmus. Ukraine's victory was predictable. But I'm still very happy for her. Congratulations from Russia.

I love Finland almost every year, and this one wasn't an exception, they did amazing! The performance was so cool and yellow 💛 my favourite colour, so original and beautiful, you got me! They give a lot of non-binary vibes which I adore and the song was way cooler than last year's from 🇫🇮 Finland (in my opinion the Rasmus were better, Blind Channel were so repetitive for me). Saara Aalto, Sandhja, Norma John, Softengine, my beloved Pernilla singing in Swedish a wonderful ballad, Paradise Oskar, Krista Siegfrids, Kuunkuiskaajat, Teräsbetoni, Lordi, Hanna Pakarinen... I love all of them! And they still have a lot of wonderful artists like Vesala or Ruusut, Finland is one of my favourite countries at the ESC, with 🇮🇸 Iceland!
Lauri's voice was so much better today than in semi-finals, he really tried so hard, they deserved better. Also Emppu is my new crush, she's so talanted and she looks amazing. I definetely have a thing for women with guitars and tattoos 😊
I have not even forgotten jamie-lee kriewitz who sang Ghost at Eurovision 2016 and is German like you was my favorite and I still follow her today in 2022 I still listen and follow jamie-lee This year I really liked the Finns because they are so similar to Europe that they are Swedish and the voice of Lauri from The Rasmus seems a bit like that of Jon Bon Jovi too
I was fascinated by this performance and the song itself was catchy and had a good beat. They were much better than lots of artist we saw tonight, and better than songs that ended up being in top 3. I'll definitely add their song to my playlist. Other than that, they all seemed so nice in the interviews. So sorry they didn't get better placement.
New fan here, this was an amazing entry! The part where the whole audience screamed 'Jezebel' sent chills down my spine, it went just perfectly with the song. It deserved so much more

Still, I felt this deserved more, dunno why it did not get more, maybe juries wanted different type of song to win this year and people forgot about this one since the show was so long.
It's a real mystery that the song ended up with such a bad result. Pay attention to the last minute (2:20 to the end). Incredibly intense. The public is in total madness. Goosebumps.

Ok I have to say... As a Finn, I disagree, not because I am never happy with anything, like a typical Finn would do... but because there were so many songs that deserved to be in the final, including my personal 2nd place, Ireland.
Unfortunately we are in age, where pop and tik tok songs get more popular than good rock song .... The Rasmus should have received way more points than the guys did. It was an amazing performance and nice return to childhood

Nothing about this is particularly dated any more than anything else in ESC, which I don't know if you noticed, but they tend to all copy each other and all the songs tend to date. The reason this didn't do well in my opinion is Rock or 'pop-rock' never really does that well in ESC-- there is a rock song almost every year and a lot of them do poorly, with the exception of Maneskin and Lordi, two very different rock genres that won 16 years apart! Since then the ESC has been dominated by pop songs and ballads. The second reason I think is that Lauri Ylonen's voice can't carry it as well live any more... compared to say, Maneskin's Damiano who can carry the songs he sings because he has a pretty strong voice. Speaking of, Maneskin is literally dressed with a 70s aesthetic and has repeatedly said that they have been inspired by Glam Rock and 60s, 70s rockers, which dude, is pretty freaking dated and nostalgic. Tropes come back around all the time. Do you think metalheads are into metal nowadays because its particularly new and innovative? Nothing new (in terms of sound or aesthetic) in metal has happened for the past 40 something years, and people clinging to it are only clinging to it because of *gasp* nostalgia! There's a reason metal is no longer popular and the metalhead trope is pretty dated too. So I mean, every freaking musical style is dated and tropey. You just sound elitist.
When I saw this on the finals I did not shake my head, I did not sing...I was just left startled. Not because of something bad but because I was just admiring the whole performance, making hallucinations and feeling some type of nostalgia...You are a band to be respected thank you for this wonderful song! I think, I figured out why Finland got such a low vote:
The people simply thought that it was unfair from Finland to send such a high quality band, with a long history of international success, in competition to all those newcomers.
That's the only reason I can think of since The Rasmus delivered such a nice song and joyfull performance on stage :P

No, it's because it's a bland rock song. Let's say "In the shadows" was never released back in the day and it was their contribution this year they would've done much better.

@@bodzio_stawski187 for the ESC that's basically no playback. A lot of the contestants had a playback with vocal tracks that doubled the main vocals. Here it's just some background singers and the instrumental (which is obligatory to be playback).

@@terielon Before the show a guy tells you what to do in certain songs, for example I was in Lisbon 2018 and it was like "we need you to turn your phone lights on with Spain, Lithuania and Ireland, and to shake your hands at the end of France". So they could have done it like that, but they chose making it pre recorded

Удивлена голосованию жюри и зрителей, особенно жюри. Испания - смазливая мордашка и виляние голой попой, типичные поющие трусы. Швеция - стандартная шведская попсовая песня для Евровидения, не запомнилась. Сербия - дама с тазиком, мылом и полотенцем, ни мелодии, ни смысла, ни вокала. Большинство выступлений скучные и однотипные, которых тянули жюри

I just can't help myself, but Emppu is simply perfect here. She brings so much enegry to the whole show, her moves just fit the music. Of course the whole band did a perfect job, but I really feel like Emppu deserves to be mentioned and deserves so much credit here.

I love Finland almost every year, and this one wasn't an exception, they did amazing! The performance was so cool and yellow 💛 my favourite colour, so original and beautiful, you got me! They give a lot of non-binary vibes which I adore and the song was way cooler than last year's from 🇫🇮 Finland (in my opinion the Rasmus were better, Blind Channel were so repetitive for me). Saara Aalto, Sandhja, Norma John, Softengine, my beloved Pernilla singing in Swedish a wonderful ballad, Paradise Oskar, Krista Siegfrids, Kuunkuiskaajat, Teräsbetoni, Lordi, Hanna Pakarinen... I love all of them! And they still have a lot of wonderful artists like Vesala or Ruusut, Finland is one of my favourite countries at the ESC, with 🇮🇸 Iceland!

I have not even forgotten jamie-lee kriewitz who sang Ghost at Eurovision 2016 and is German like you was my favorite and I still follow her today in 2022 I still listen and follow jamie-lee This year I really liked the Finns because they are so similar to Europe that they are Swedish and the voice of Lauri from The Rasmus seems a bit like that of Jon Bon Jovi too

I was fascinated by this performance and the song itself was catchy and had a good beat. They were much better than lots of artist we saw tonight, and better than songs that ended up being in top 3. I'll definitely add their song to my playlist. Other than that, they all seemed so nice in the interviews. So sorry they didn't get better placement.

Nothing about this is particularly dated any more than anything else in ESC, which I don't know if you noticed, but they tend to all copy each other and all the songs tend to date. The reason this didn't do well in my opinion is Rock or 'pop-rock' never really does that well in ESC-- there is a rock song almost every year and a lot of them do poorly, with the exception of Maneskin and Lordi, two very different rock genres that won 16 years apart! Since then the ESC has been dominated by pop songs and ballads. The second reason I think is that Lauri Ylonen's voice can't carry it as well live any more... compared to say, Maneskin's Damiano who can carry the songs he sings because he has a pretty strong voice. Speaking of, Maneskin is literally dressed with a 70s aesthetic and has repeatedly said that they have been inspired by Glam Rock and 60s, 70s rockers, which dude, is pretty freaking dated and nostalgic. Tropes come back around all the time. Do you think metalheads are into metal nowadays because its particularly new and innovative? Nothing new (in terms of sound or aesthetic) in metal has happened for the past 40 something years, and people clinging to it are only clinging to it because of *gasp* nostalgia! There's a reason metal is no longer popular and the metalhead trope is pretty dated too. So I mean, every freaking musical style is dated and tropey. You just sound elitist.

Not because of something bad but because I was just admiring the whole performance, making hallucinations and feeling some type of nostalgia...You are a band to be respected thank you for this wonderful song!
