Why would you ban guns in certain areas of the French Quarter? Criminals target people who are entering or exiting a gun free zone. Are you going to place scanners at the entraces of those gun free areas? This ruling is absurd! And the criminals will be watching and waiting to do harm to people exiting tnose areas! I am a proud New Orleanian who has traveled to throughout the country. And I have found that: The states with the most Constitutional Carry citizens have less gun crime.
Carrying an item for self defense is a God given right, regardless of political beliefs. It is present in the animal kingdom and elsewhere. For the folks that don’t like it, when something bad happens, remember, your only option is to call and wait for the police, (also people with guns). Rights are more important than feelings or political association. Everybody should have the right to defend themselves, this shouldn’t even be a discussion or up for debate.
For those who oppose this idea because they have a concern for gun owners who lack responsibility, common sense, and maturity. Well, they never had those traits to begin with and would hurt themselves or others regardless if it was with a gun or vehicle. As for the concern for criminals....ummm they are concealing regardless of law or not.
Instead of creating ways to bring big business to Louisiana because we are behind times compared to other states, a permitless carry and concealed is priority one. A waste of people's time and taxpayers dollars. Big egos will be at an all-time high.
bringing business wouldn't even help. the legislature and local governments would just give the businesses they do bring in a nice big fat tax break. shifting even more or the burden to make up for that on to people who are being taxed to death as it is

If someone is too dangerous to be able to own a gun, then they shouldn't be released from prison. You repaid your debt to society so you deserve your rights back.
out of all the problems this state has this is what people cheering. not lowering insurance rates. not finding homeless new and safer places. none of that. but more guns.
The police forces of the u.s are militarized in many places. The gangstas usually turn out to have more fire power and criminal intent to do others harm at any given time no matter where. You have no society if the innocent of that society cannot live in a safe society and a society where they can decide at any given time to feel safe. Oh you get shot at the gas station but you have cheap car insurance. You have geico though lol let's be realistic here. Louisiana still has police on horseback sitting higher than everyone on public, strapped with shotguns. This is the 29th state to enact this. What about all the other states that have Constitutional Carry? You’re not very well thought out on this. Just being emotional. By the way, 3 other states will be doing this by the end of 2025, bringing the total to 32 states.
In New Orleans it seems they allow convicted felons to carry gun. But they don't want to allow law abiding citizens to be unarmed.

Thank God the Quarter is a gun free zone. Will they be notifying criminals of this?

Yep. Louisiana is already crime central, and we’re scaring visitors off by announcing that everyone is packing.

Maybe we should make it part of the public school system firearm safety class mandatory to graduate. It’s not too different than the pride stuff.😂
gay people probably need guns for protection

Great. Violence will go up. Especially in a crime ridden state like Louisiana.
New Orleans hasn't done a whole lot to lower crime. I hear about shootings every day on the news. At least now people can legally defend themselves.
more than half of our states already have this and it isnt a problem there but yea sure.
