You added simple and useful value. I can't wait to receive mine.
The manual switches are appreciated. The pre-amp is appreciated.
    Simple and useful!👏

Why not just use the gain on the interface?
      0 issues with a MOTU M2 + regular SM7B.
In fact adding an inline preamp would make matters worse for the SNR.

Is it okay to switch to bypass while the mic is currently being powered by phantom power? or should I always turn off phantom power then switch to bypass? Ty in advance, I love my mic so far.

    Shure is the best choice.

I want this mic but I'm confused what I need to buy alongside this mic, or does it come with everything? Like don't you need to buy a sound board or something to connect this into?

Hi @notleoso. You will need to plug the SM7dB into a mixer or an interface that has an XLR connector.

Just bought the SM7db with an NI Komplete Audio 6 Interface. I wanted to replace my 17 years old Rode NT1a in hope to get better vocals in an untreated room. But as i am used to my Rode i find the Noise floor of the SM7b so annoying. If bring the gain up (with boost activated) to get the same level as my Rode, the noise is so noticable. I wonder why i dont hear that noise in podcasts or even this video...

Hello. I bought this microphone and there is no shure print on the backplate, is this normal or is it fake? I see you don't have one either, but in all the videos there is a shure print on the back.

I have a question, can i use the SM7dB preamp with focusrite scarlett 4th generation? When i switch to 18dB on the mic the interface dont read the signal.

You don't need it for the sm7db but you need the phantom power to power on the pre-amp in the mic, I know because I initially ran into the same problem you did where the sound would disappear whenever I turned on the pre-amp gain.@@Ramon.83

The Shure logo at the side is a bad choice. Appreciate you guys trying to make it subtle but we all prefer it without. If we don't use it hang down, it will be upside down, unless of course if we open the screws and flip it over. The color of the SM7dB is not as subtle and stealthy as the SM7B, it will look worse on camera. What's with the elongated but tapered design? Why mess with perfection, If you guys just took the SM7B and make it longer just for the preamp, I think more people will be receptive. If Trance Audio can make it all fit in the orginal, why can't you? The new SM7dB just looks weird. The proportions is all wrong. Why not make an SM7C? with better sound, all wires internal and make it super good looking on camera?

You know what's worst? With the Rodecaster Pro II with the SM7dB without any of the preamp engaged has a lower noise floor than with the preamp engaged. At least give us lower noise floor with the built in preamp, this has to be the most disappointing refresh of 2023. After so many years, this is the best that current Shure engineer can achieve? Disappointing.
