I'm inclined to just say, "what they all said," but I do want to add my own note of thanks for your generosity in sharing this and so many other wonderful videos. On top of running a business and doing all that sewing, you somehow find/make time to produce and post these videos to inspire and teach others. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Christine
Thank you so much Karen, and for your very generous donation of coffee. I really appreciate it 😊😊
For us American folk: bag body is cut 18 x 37.5 inches, straps are 44" then cut in half, and the ribbon is approx 12" also cut in half. All are close estimates. Nice bag. Love the idea of using that fabric type.
Thanks for that Mary. When I redo this video, I'll be making sure I use inches as well as metric measurements 😁😁
Mary thank you for taking the time to give the measurements for us Americans it’s so useful.
Thank you Mary, that was a great help. I can’t figure metric and not all rulers have that option.
Here it getting the material at good price for resale ,
Thank you Mary...I wished people who make there videos would use American measurements and not just there metric ones. It can't be that hard to convert for those of us who don't know the metric system... Another thing that would help is showing and telling where they get the tools they use and the sizes... That's why I love watching Oklaroots because she shows you everything you need before she starts her tutorials... If everyone would do that it would make it so much easier...So thank you for giving that information to us in American terms... No offense to Christine as I enjoy watching her make things, and just found her on youtube today... So please don't take any offense please!
Hello all the way from NZ.
Firstly your are such a positive person who wants to show and share how everyone can earn a living from doing like what you do.
I really enjoy watching your videos because you are giving all the information "you" have in hand.
I believe you're not hiding anything from your teaching and that's called a awesome teacher.
Your set up looks great too and your expressions are true.
Thank you
haha, You're our closest neighbour. Thank you so much Ratinesh. You're so kind 😀
I love those little flower head pins you used to put the ribbon on. Unfortunately, so does my cat, Buttercup. She has discovered: (a) The flower head is fabulously crunchy and (b) the pins go boing when you flick them with your paw.
Buttercup has given the flower head pins a full 5 star rating on the "Things Cats Do To Pester Mum When She's Sewing" scale.
Guess my bags will be minus a ribbon loop... 🐾
Haha. Coco, my boxer got to my pincushion and I had them strewn all over the yard🤪
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Chuckle. So, my fluffy little ball of mischief has a partner in crime. If there are many more such pets that have a thing for the flowerhead pins, they might set up a Facebook group 🤣
Thank you very much for the tutorial, I am one of those people who has more fabric than sense (lol), and this would be a great way to de-stash!
Thanks Patricia. I'm one of those people too😆😆
I am with you Patricia, sometimes the ideas just don't come out. This video is extraordinary ❤very helpful. Thank you
I have the exact same affliction! lol
I think we should form a group called Fabricholics Anonymous. I am glad I am not alone in having more stash than time to sew it all. I went through all my fabric and I was brutal with myself. It’s so hard to part with any. I just sold 10 X-LARGE garbage bags full of fabric for a measly $280 for all of it, just to get it out of the house before I changed my mind. Mind you I kept most of the cotton fabric👍. I still have two large closets full and several more bins 🤪🤪
I am with you on that one Patricia. I have lots of patterns, ideas, and fabric, but not enough time to use it. I work full time and have 4 young grandchildren.
Then a beautiful fabric catches my eye and bam, I have added to my 'collection', lol. I recently made 44 mug rugs to use up fabric and scraps, but it didn't make a huge dent. I'm trying :)
So inspired and excited to upcycle fabrics into grocery bags. THANKS!!!
Your welcome Evan😃
So generous of you to share exactly how you make these! Very good video! Thank you!
You are so welcome Jean!
THANK YOU CHRISTINE FOR THIS WONDEFUL TUTORIAL AND MANY OF YOUR OTHERS. LOVE WATCHING YOU AND LEARNING HOW TO DO ITEMS WITH QUICK SIMPLE ACTIONS AND NOT THESE LONG DRAWN OUT TUTORIALS THAT I MUST CONSTANTLY FAST-FORWARD.❤️ I love your work. Quick and to the point.

Love it! So very helpful and you are very relatable. I’m a quick process sewer too, I get put off watching other tutorials that are fussy. But I will give this project a go. 😊
Awesome Art! Thank you!😀
Hi . I'm So glad I watched your tutorial. So simple and easy . Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and knowledge with the beginners (like me) and the experts..
Well done.
Thanks Marlene 🙂
I'm so happy I found your channel. You have got my confidence up with sewing again. I've always thought of sewing as a complicated exasperating chore before now. The fact that there are no patters to copy and that your explainations are so clear and easy to follow is fantastic. Thank you, and keep up the great work!
Thank you so much Eve. I'm so glad you're back into sewing😁
Thank you! I am teaching my grandkids to sew and this will be a great project for them.
That's a fabulous idea 🙂
I also like to use used material. I use old jeans to make quilts and other things. And I make several other items and use used material when I can. Thanks for the quick and easy bag . From Huntsville Alabama Roll Tide
It's very satisfying using up old fabric 😁
Excellent tutorial! Thank you so much for all of the details and visuals!
You're very welcome!
Glad to see some one is still making these. I use to make them and sell at markets in Victoria about 14 years ago . I used furnishing fabric like you but I also lined mine and added a pocket to in side . Just wash in washing machine .
Very cool! I line some as well, but they're so much quicker this way 😀😀
Thank you so much!!!! What a great tutorial. You are so very talented.
Thank you so much!
Thankyou so much very simple but beautiful will certainly try as i do have a heap of upholstery pieces
You can do it Mildred! I use plain cotton as well for these bags
Oh wow!! Now I know what boxing the sides look like and how to do it. Thank you!!🌟😊
You're very welcome Angel😁
Really enjoyed the video, you explained how to make the bag easily and didn’t rush, so had time to think about it. Will definitely be making myself and my family a fold up shopping bag. Thank you for your time. Geraldine South Wales

Thank you Sandra. I'm still working through it all too😊
Thank you again, for another clear tutorial! I am preparing for my first craft fair, I will probably make a few of these bags for the sale. I also made a bunch of the tea towels from one of your other tutorials. Wish me luck!
Good luck Dena. Hope it's a success for you 🙂
I love the way you've made it so simple. I'm going to try your tips. I love sewing and I'm going to make grocery bags to sell now.

You are so welcome Stella 😀
I love the way you explain everything. I’ll be trying these bags soon. Have lots of fabrics to use up.
That's great Jaws. Happy sewing!! 😀
That little space between the top and bottom stitching of the handles is a great space to slip a pen with a pocket clip into!
That's a fabulous idea!🤩 It too is on the list
I love your accent❤️. I stumbled across your video and am addicted. You are extremely patient and give additional details to help along the way. I have learned so much in a short amount of time. Thank you so much for making my day!

Here it is getting the material and webbing for handles at a decent price to make it worth your while to sell . But they sure are sturdy shopping bags and make a nice gift …
Thanks Margaret. They sure do make great gifts 😀
I've been watching a bunch of crafting videos for Christmas present ideas. This is a great idea for that. Thanks for the great idea!
You are so welcome!😀
Thank u so much sweet heart for sharing
in stitching the bag❤️
My pleasure 😊
Thank you. I'm part of a buy nothing group and I acquired a large bag of upholstery fabric. So thank you for a wonderful project. Also thank you for the tips about the zigzagging stitch and the little loops to hang while you're bagging the groceries, much appreciated. This video was so simple to follow thank you.
Thank you so much Dawn! 😊
Thank you so much Christine for the fabulous tuition. 💖💖
You are so welcome!😀
Good morning from Ocen City, New Jersey, USA! Thank you so much for a great tutorial. I also make all sizes and shapes of recycled bags and, as of late, grocery bags. However, I never thought of the loop. What a great and useful idea. I'm definitely adding the loop and I think I will name them "Loopy Grocery Bags" to grab attention. Agsain, thanks for sharing.
That sounds great Barb 😀
@Barb Braun what are the loops for? I have not heard her mention it, not do I see much use for them, on top of the handles itself?
I was just giving a box of this type fabric not sure what I was going to use it for but now I do, thank you for this tutorial!
You’re very welcome Diana 😊 Happy sewing!!
Thank you ! You make fantastically great videos - LOVE !
Thanks Nina 🙂
Thankyou for your honest open videos. It’s so helpful and refreshing. Great tutorials which I really appreciate . 🌺🌺🌺
Thank you Marie 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I just found a good little sewing machine at a thrift store and figured that was the best way to go considering I don't know how to use one yet! Market bags were something I wanted to start with and your bags are gorgeous! I can't wait to learn to use my Necchi!
Hope you make lots of lovely items with your new machine. Happy sewing!!
Ember, best wishes on your entry to sewing! The Necchi was my favorite machine back in the 70's .Made all my clothes and some for the kids too! Such a sturdy machine! Hope you have good use of it! Just one warning about sewing....its very addictive and you will find yourself constantly putting other chores aside in order to sew!!🤣🤣 Enjoy! Have fun! You'll never dream how creative you are!!🤩🤩

Thank you so much for sharing. I am Canadian and I am actually making a few of these bags for my daughter who lives in Spotswood , VIC, Australia. I am adding heat transfer vinyl to each side of each bag. Thanks again.
That's sounds great Linda.
Spotswood is only 90min from here😁
Thank you for sharing your skills with us, it’s very much appreciated. My husband and I are keen campers and I would love to see a video on your tool wrap. I wanted to see if I can adapt it to hang my cooking utensils near my camp stove. Thank you.
That sounds like a great idea Karen. Here's the video 😃

Beautiful video Thank you for sharing this with us Blessings to you and your family 🙏🙏🙏
You are so kind, thank you 😀
Very useful. I make these too - for myself, neighbors, family and friends. It keeps me busy and off the streets. Lol. Thanks for another great video!!
Thanks Cyn. I think these are one of my favourite makes 😀
I followed your instructions and made a bag but left the bottom square as it is a dress bag. I made straps from the same fabric. I had left over upholstery fabric and also made a makeup bag to match. Thanks for your educational video. Liked and subscribed today. Hi from Queensland
That's great Sue. Thanks for sharing😀
Thank you so much for the instructions. I live in the United States and the state I live in you need to bring your own bags when grocery shopping. I'll be making some from fabric I have.
That's great Joyce. These came about when plastic was banned here a few years ago. 😁
Thank you for being honest about your sales.
You're very welcome 😀
Excellent tutorial! Thanks for sharing, I love the fabrics that you have, I think you can make a pillow cases and sell them like 18” or 20” square pillows are the most common mesures, It’s a better way to renew your living room!!! 👍🏼😉
It's a great idea Claudia. It was actually the first thing I did with the fabric, as well as table runners. The cushion covers didn't sell so well, but the runners were ok 😀
Hi
Very nice tutorial very simple easy to follow the instructions.
Thanks Veena 😀
Thanks for a great video. I have been wanting to make some grocery bags and I can't wait to start. Very detailed and great for the experienced or beginning level project.
You are so welcome Debbie, and you're right. These are perfect for any level of experience.
This is really so nice!
Thank you😊
I just came across this channel.
What a great Tutorial 👍.
You reminded me so much of myself, I would do exactly how you stitches and just how you think, I do the same. Always thinking of the Customers and aiming to Please..
People always tells me I put too much into my work! I tell them I want money like anyone, but what I loved more is giving Quality Products.
I don't sow that much now, but when I use to, Big Stores would want to buy from me, but want to give me nothing for High Quality Products, talking about Over Head lol 😆.
I used to make Panties/ Bras / Clothes and many more.
Now I am doing Cards / Beautiful Pieces like Home Decors etc.
And again a Big Hit..
I Love your Quality for what you do and thinking of your Customers.
Oh! And Quality work Always Speaks for itself. One person Buys, Tells some one or someone sees it and you don't even have to advertise..
Beautiful Tutorial 👍🙏❤
Thank you Margaret 🌝
Love this tutorial! Thank you.
Thank you 🌝
Great video. Just what I was looking for
Thanks Verna 😁
Very good demo and explanation, thank you.
Thanks Roni 🌞
you make it look so easy
They are very easy Evelyn🙂
Excellent tutorial. I’m a beginner from NZ. Thank you.👍
Thank you Joan. Welcome 😁
YOU KNOW WHAT? I LOVE YOU! I LOVE THIS VIDEO. MAYBE ONE DAY I WILL GET UP THE COURAGE AND START MAKING TOTEBAGS LIKE THESE.
You can do it Dottie 😃
Great idea for fabric that might otherwise go to waste or landfill. Thinking a twin needle would save you a lot of time. 😊
Twin needle will give two rows at top but only one underneath. As it's furnishing fabric, I like it a bit more secure. Good idea for cotton fabric 😀
So clear and simple Thankyou
You’re welcome 😊
Your hair is beautiful.Love your tutorial
Thank you so much Mary 😀
Came from the sewing group on fb. Sharing the ty love.
Thanks so much Kiara. Welcome😄😄
Very clear and concise. Thank you. Re: securing the handles, I've seen some where the handles are reinforced with an X shape, after they've been sewn on as you've demonstrated. Kind of stabilizing how the handles are positioned, it seems. Your way seems simpler but just as sturdy, though. (It may also prevent the webbing from fraying a little?) P.S. When you've taken the time to answer someone in comments, (thank you so much, because I read your answers to people and get lots of hints) - remember to click on the little *"thumbs up" symbol* under their question, so it notifies them you've answered (if they've got their own notification settings organized to let them know; for some time mine were in default "off" and didn't realize).
Thanks Kayenne. I usually do the 'thumbs up" I must have missed a few..... When I made bags on a small scale, I used to do the X to secure straps, and still do if I am making the handles myself. As I'm a nut for "time management" I found that triple stitching in two places was not only quicker, but much more secure.😁😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Thank you. This "recipe" is so easy, you explained it so well, and the bags look great. I'm pondering over my stash now 🙂I'll follow your instructions to the letter!
You are absolutely delightful to listen to and learn from. I just need to interpret the measurements to "American", but that shouldn't be too hard, and I am making this bag several times over. Thank you.
Thanks Cynthia. 1 yard x 1/2 yard will do for the fabric. Fold top edges x 1 inch. I'm mentioning both metric and imperial measurements in my videos now🤗
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial.
You are so welcome Norine😀
Been wanting to make some grocery bags. Tks for a wonderful refresher course. U are a blessing. I'll be watching so as to make some gifts for family. Love the doggie bags for outdoor activity. The dog obedience clubs frown on the hard plastic holders. They usually clunk the poor doggie on the face & top of their heads. Will be making some of those when u get around to demonstrating. My dogs dance on stage at various locations & performing arts centers. They will appreciate ur soft bags. Tk u. Love & appreciation from here in Florida, USA.
Thanks Joyce. That sounds like so much fun. Our Boxer Coco, has 4 left paws. She doesn't dance well at all🤣🤣🤣
The puppy poop bag video is up. You'll find it in the sew to sell playlist 😀
You are a great tutor, and make excellent hand bags, I enjoyed your video, and have learned helpful ways for making my hand bag. Thank you very much for sharing your video, and now I will make a good hand bag for myself, and share some with family and friends.
Thank you so much Mary. I'm sure your friends will love them😀
Very interesting you made my day, Thanks for sharing
Thank you Etta😊
