- Why the US Drops 14.7 Million Worms On Panama Every Week?
The United States conducts a weekly operation involving the dropping of 14.7 million live flies over the Panama-Colombia border. This operation is a part of a long-standing collaboration to control the population of the New World screwworm, a species that poses a significant threat to livestock and humans. The New World screwworm larvae hatch from eggs laid in open wounds of warm-blooded mammals, causing severe pain and often death to the host animal. The strategy to control the screwworm population involves sterilizing male flies with X-rays, disrupting the mating process to eventually reduce the population. This operation dubbed the "Great American Worm Wall," involves various components such as a fly factory in Panama, sterilization procedures, aerial drops of sterilized flies, and ground monitoring to prevent screwworm outbreaks, costing around $15 million annually.

Fun fact: USA can never do help any country without any interest 💀
Yeah like 90% of countrys don't idiot
they help because they need canal dude.
@@TheLogitech-xs4pcthey don't need this canal. They need money they can drain from Panama and this canal
Literally the same for any other country on the planet lol.
Fun fact: no country does. And no country is expected to.
This is actually a really good thing and it has a great return on investment. Screwflies used to be endemic in the southern US from Florida to California. They would literally eat animals alive, and people, too. And not just agricultural animals, but wildlife and pets.
They eradicated them from North America as far south as Panama, except for occasional sporadic outbreaks, about 50 years ago.
USA is so cool. It is continuously delivering freedom even to the animal kingdom. God Bless Murica. 🙏
The us has such power it can drop more worms than worms in the world every single week
The usa isn't powerful its a,paper tiger run by nasty fat greedy people
God above usa and all
There's 325 quintillion worms on the planet according to Google so yes dropping that many a week seems possible
Instead of me saying the country us i just would say the country name U.S.A 🙏🫷🫸🫷🫸🫸🫷
We don't need flies
Which is why they are preventing them from moving to north america, i heard from another video about plans to eradicate remaining populations of this type of fly in south america.
We need more videos 🎉!
I hate internet. Can't even enjoy this vids
This is amazingly weird. The US power is infinite to even manage bizarre operations.
The government sucks tho, they could do better than how they do currently.
@@WitherWinter I guess you're right.
Stupid , if these worms come like that there's a reason...
Cannot control nature like that
Less cow, less meat , less pollution , less water spent...
@@ernestorevollar3632 👍.
I want to edit like this too, what app do you use?
Fly factories sound SOO dope

Love your video ❤
Is this where my taxpayed dollars goes to?
It's actually important though. They used to wreak havoc in Florida and South California now they've been pushed back as far south as the end of Panama. They would eat livestock, pets, wild animals and people basically alive
I think we don’t need flys😊
At least they are not dropping bombs, which they mostly do in foreign lands.

The video: USA drops 14,7 million worms on Panama
Me watching it: wait, what the fuck?!
Ps the weirdest operation i've ever heard of
Oh good bless American
So thats where covid came from
😂
$15 million just to drop flies? 😂
15 million to stop an insect that could destroy the world
Yeah but it's saving millions of lives so worth it.
It saves billions of dollars in agricultural losses.
US: Thank God, everyone forgot that I invaded Panama for business. This will fade away in the future.
May God bless America.
😐
