This death was my first time dealing with death. My family and I used to watch 8 Simple Rules regularly, and when the dad died on the show my parents had to explain to me how it was reflecting the actor's death. I was deeply sad, but I didn't fully understand. When my father passed when I was 15, I did. This show and these moments now help me cope, even 7 1/2 years later. Thank you, 8 Simple Rules, for handling this in this way, and rest in peace Ritter. And rest in peace, J. M. Hall
This show is the reason I always apologize before someone leaves the house if we had fought, because in the show kaleys character fought with her dad and it was the last thing she said to him. Goes to show how precious life is I could never live with myself if the last interaction I had with someone was very negative.
I'm so sorry you lost your father at such a young age. I was in my 40s when my Dad passed away, so I can't imagine how hard it was for you to lose yours so young. 💔
One of the rarest few actors with a real true talent. Always remembered and never forgotten. My best to his family and those who loved him. R.I.P John.
Katy did an awesome job on that episode. Doesn't matter if their actors/actresses here . Their pain is real for a great man John Ritter. . I wonder how the cast is doing now. Wonderful I hope. Rip John
The 4 episodes they did about Paul's death with no laugh track or studio audience (who may not have been in much mood to laugh anyway) were some of the best portrayals of grief & loss on any show. With the rise of single-camera comedies without any sort of laugh track, those episodes still look pretty timely now.
Of course, Katey went on to do Sons of Anarchy & Kaley did The Big Bang Theory. Kaley, in particular, you can tell whenever she is asked about John in interviews, still misses him deeply.
8 simple rules definitely isn't the same without him, he will be missed!
The television airwaves are not the same without Mr. Ritter.
I absolutely agree without you, you know, because the show is created to just simply listen to what they are saying without the subtitles on so much, and to depict each and every sentence they are saying just the once with the subtitles on, I really felt the atmosphere whilst watching the episode with John Ritter's death in it the first two times.
Katy Sagal can do comedy and drama like a pro. Such a beautiful talented lady.
She really is.
When they read his final article I cried. Especially when it talked about even though they said they hate him he knew they loved him
Your intro is annoying AF and *totally* unnecessary.
A great actor, comedian. That was such amazing column. I cry all the time to it
This still saddens me as if it was yesterday.
Me too.
Truly incredible and sad! Gone too soon. Rest in Peace, John Ritter.
Did you find the show hilarious with James Garner and David Spade in it since John's death?
Miss John very much he was one of the best in comedy and loving husband friend to those close to him R.I.P
I miss Paul and 8 Simple Rules
This video makes me cry every time I see John Ritter 's character Paul Hennessey from 8 simple rules for dating my teenage daughter I miss him forever and I'm not kidding around when I say it though someone like him on different shows like three's company because he was brilliant in everything he did for t.v. or movies with anyone who was available for the t.v. show or movies
watched it before death...loved it cried when those scenes happened
we all love and miss you! rip john Ritter #8simplerules #three'scompany
It was hard for me to cope with John Ritter's death in 2003 and he died a year after my dad in 2003 and I got overwhelmed by his passing and I think that I over it now and it's just plain odd that he is not here on earth but I realize that he's remembered for everything he did
Rip ⚘️ 🌷 🙏 John Ritter 😢 ♥️ 🙏 💔 😞
You are deeply ❤️ 💙 missed 😢 ❤️ ♥️ 💔
September 11, 2003: The world lost one of the greatest actors, one of the greatest men that the world has ever known........John Ritter. Although the fans didn't know him personally, I feel as though he (John Ritter) was like a best friend and a father figure to us all. With each passing year since his passing, I still find my heart breaking and my eyes flooding with tears just remembering how I (and so many others) have felt when John Ritter passed away 17 years ago. 17 years, and it still hasn't gotten any easier 😭💔.
I wholeheartedly agree. 😭
I love John Ritter,RIP🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️aww can't believed it😪🙏🏻😄

You have to grow up to be able to realize that your parents were once kids. The pearls of wisdom that they tried to give you were not out trying to ruin your fun, embarrass you, or make your life difficult it was out of love. They don't want you to make the same mistakes they did.
Sometimes we can be wrong heck we are only human but we are always here for you. Trying to help. We love you and try to protect you.
The TV land scape with sitcoms so disappointing
