I ❤ Frontier spices and herbs. A good Italian seasoning is a must. I will share my blend with all of you ! This is a small batch , so do a little math if you need to. 3 T Basil, 1 T Oregano, 2T Parsley & 2 tsp Thyme. This is a favorite in my house!! Adjust as you please. Make something wonderful this year and enjoy.
Frontier Co-op is great! I came here to say that. Starwest Botanicals is also a go to for me. Both of these for herbs, spices, and dried elderberrries. I love that I can buy them in bulk. In fact, that's his I discovered Frontier when looking for their ground Chipotle pepper.
I love the “you have all the ingredients so put it together for your convenience” concept. That’s why I never go out to eat. I’ve got food at home that I can cook better than any restaurant cuz it’s made my way. Bingo, Baby! ❤💪🏼
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I find them relaxing and sometimes put them on to take a break from reality. I love that you are so real and honest and don't try to seem like everything goes perfectly because we all know that it never does! Keep the videos coming, I love them all.
Parsley easy grower..❤.. ranch mix is awesome to have on hand. You are meant to be doing this! You are a fabulous and real being.. that’s what I love most about your content. Thank you!
Use chili powder on home fried potatoes....this is the bomb. OR another use that will have you addicted, Dust hot buttered corn on the cob with chili powder. Thank you for the great video.
Oooh! Fun! I hope Santa brings you a dehydrator for Christmas and a great find we found was a combination “coffee/spice grinder “! We grow and dry our own garlic, onions etc ( many veggies!) and we are learning to use the seeds to regrow everything and dry preserve and bottle our herbs! My girlfriend gave me a great little handheld machine to seal the air out of the jars! No brand name for the vacuum sealer just “vacuum mason jar sealer “ but the coffee/ spice grinder was by “Black &Decker” 🤷🏼♀️ I was gifted with an AHsome jar of wild garlic leaves with salt from a friend that was dried from her scavenging and we use it a lot now! We grow and dehydrate and grind and bottle everything now herb wise now! We also have kept some of the herbs growing in planters in the basement grow op this year! You’re right! Nothing beats fresh and definitely cost effective! Apparently you can grab some fresh basil and put it in water, root it and plant to continue growing! ( haven’t tried that one yet myself though!) Yes! I have a doggy like him attitude wise 🤣 and an adopted kitty ♥️ Again! Thank you for these ideas and? By the way? Your pronunciation of “Montreal” sounds exactly right! Most Canadians don’t even do as well as that!!
I use ranch powered ALL the time. Veggies, stew, meats and as ranch for dip. There's a ton of herbs in it so if I feel like a dish needs an herb, I dump in some ranch powder
I use pumpkin pie spice mix for many things. I add it to banana bread in place of just plain cinnamon or other muffins that are fruity. Sometimes it kicks up applesauce a notch, whether homemade or out of the jar, Cobblers, or fruit pies, where apples are involved is also another way to use pumpkin pie spice. I just wouldn’t go too heavy on it. Apple cakes and spice cakes can be enhanced with pumpkin pie spice also.
I for sure want to try the Montreal seasoning. I've never used it. Like you say, sometimes things need a little kick. Amazing how you have memorized all those and got that done so fast! You are a 'good steward'! Thank you!
Oh Betty, I did not memorize them 😂 I have the memory of an acorn. I just edit out the parts where I reference my notes a million times during the video 🤦🏻♀️ Haha but thank you!
I use Italian seasoning a lot. I made it myself this year for the first time with the herbs I grew. I make my own cinnamon sugar. I use pumpkin pie spice sprinkled on my goat milk soap 😂
Thank you for sharing all these blends. I was going to start looking for a chili one and now I don't have to. I love the snow. We don't get snow in Florida so I think folks are lucky that have the White Christmas and your dog is gorgeous. On a different note and I hope its okay if I say this. I know there are a lot of spice companies out there but, there is one that I absolutely love dealing with. They are a small family owned company and their customer service is wonderful. Its call "Spice Inc.". They have a pepper blend that is out of this world. Its called "Pennsylvania Pepper" and I love it. Between my brother and I we have ordered several things from them. We usually get a pound of something and then split it between the both of us. Shipping is pretty fast and if you order over 50 bucks its free. If you're looking for a good bulk spice company, I don't think you would be disappointed using them. I don't work for them and I don't get anything from them to say good things about them. I just like the company.
Thanks for sharing 👍 Besides the ones you did, I use some of the instant soup mixes for dips and such. Like onion soup mix, ranch dressing mix, and vegetable soup mix.
New subscriber here! 👏🏼🎉👏🏼 I am so excited for these recipes. We're a low sodium household, unfortunately, so I make my own taco and chili seasonings and store them in half pints also. I make my own ranch dip/dressing every few weeks but it has never dawned on me to mix the herbs & spices in a jelly jar too! I'm excited to try your BBQ and Montreal seasonings too!🎉👏🏼🎉
Was looking for seasoning recipes for homemade Christmas gift baskets for my adult kids. So glad I came across this video! It’s exactly what I was looking for ❤️ faithful new subscriber 😊❤️
I love this video. I have a huge collection of different spices and it has never occurred to me to make my own. Some spices are expensive and I love Montreal seasoning on burgers and chicken. Now I can make my own. Thank you Jaylea. Also I use pumpkin pie spice in candied pecans. They're so good. Thank you for sharing this video. This is awesome. Happy Holidays and the snow ❄️ is beautiful. It's just really cold here in TN. So stay warm and safe my friend. Many blessings to you and Tom.
This is fantastic !! Thank you for sharing this!! I love ranch seasoning when i make oven baked chicken or pork chops. Sometimes will mix in with oven roasted potatoes too.
I make two seasonings that I always have on hand and use frequently. I make my own seasoning salt as well as a house seasoning (garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper.) I use both of these as well as my own onion soup mix, taco seasoning and chili seasoning. ❤️
Oh my gosh, why haven’t I thought to do what you called “house seasoning”? That is a GREAT idea! I do often add salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder when I’m cooking. It makes so much sense to pre-mix them! Thank you :)
@@faithandarrowhomestead I also like seasoning salt, which is a blend of paprika, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt and a little cornstarch to keep it flowing smoothly. The "house seasoning" goes into literally everything. 😁 Equal parts of onion and garlic powder and pepper to taste. I use half the amount of pepper to garlic powder and onion powder. I don't add salt to this, because, like you, I want to add salt to my liking when preparing anything. This way I can control it. ❤️
Growing herbs in planter boxes is easy. I did oregano, thyme, parsley and basil. I also had lemon grass. I grew them to decrease the mosquitoes and they worked. The bonus was dehydrating and keeping for my use in the winter. Try it it was easy.
I just built an herb box this year but I didn’t manage it very well and it got out of hand. Many things (like the thyme and sage) got shaded out and didn’t do well. It will be much better organized this next season.
I loved your video!! And yes we have 2 Aussies, the best pets we have ever had and so smart and the older one gives us the same look that Benny Blu gives you so precious!! The puppy doesn't sit still long enough to give us those Aussie looks 😂
Great video! Thank you! I've been wanting to do more season blends of my own. I also like doing loosened tea blends with the herbs I either dry or buy in bulk. Another viewer mentioned Frontier Co-op, and I second that. Starwest is another go to and I use both of these companies for herbs, (bulk) seasonings, and even elderberries for making own elderberry echinacea syrup. Another use for pumkin pie spice could be coffee creamer. Mix it wth your own heavy whipping cream. A lot of flavored creamers have yucky additives (hey unexplained pain /inflammation.) Another blend I would look iinto would be veggie seasoning blends with players like dill, rosemary, turmeric etc. A coffee grinder is great for grinding herbs like rosemary for anyone who isn't a fan of her texture.
I buy organic herbs, dry them, crush or grind into a powder.. I'm getting ready to grow my own, but until that's ready, making it from store bought organic works great.
I recently canned jars of chicken tortolini soup and i looked at probably 30 different recipes before just taking the best ingredients from several recipes and on a whim i tossed in smoked paprika. I loved it. So spice is a great way to revive a bland recipe.
I make my own onion soup mix (copy cat for the lipton onion soup mix)and use it on everything. As for the pumpkin pie spice, I use it for breakfast oatmeal, when making apple butter, pumpkin bars, & pumpkin cheesecake. Can't wait to try your montreal steak seasoning mix. Thank you so much, love your videos!
I'd love to get a recipe for Laura scudders Green onion and French onion mix. I love making my own ranch, Italian, taco, fajita, garlic herb mix (house blend) all zero salt due to health issues. One thing I want to learn to use more often is buttermilk powder and nutritional yeast. Also, umami would be an amazing addition to your Montreal seasoning!!! It goes great on any meats
Lol love this. I make mixes too.. and our golden retriever husky mix loves to go out and roll in the snow and play then comes in and does the 100 pound dog shake it off so it looks like it snowed in the house too lol ❤ I'm in northern west Wisconsin

Im a new subscriber today, but i already know after watching your snacks for your hungry husband that you're in my top favorites to watch.❤❤ Where are you? Id like to know because you said it's snowing. Im in Texas, so its been cold, but it hardly ever snows.
@faithandarrowhomestead ok. My brother lives in CT. I grew up there. I love the East Coast. I miss the food. Tx has great Tex- Mex, but not great Seafood.
I have a huge favour to ask, would you consider doing a mix for ranch seasoning please? I only ask because I live in Australia and soooo many US channels on YT list it as an ingredient for recipes. 1. It's incredibly expensive here. 2. Our duopoly supermarket chain, no longer seems to have it in stock and d 3. Buying it online to ship to Australia is just as dear as poison!
I stopped using taco seasoning packets and just use salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, ground cumin. This way I can control the amounts like salt and garlic. Light on the salt always heavy on the garlic. lol
Have you made Empañadas with your Pumpkin Spice I misplaced your Seasoning info & I'm writing it down again Mexican Shortcuts to American Dishes would help me so much Love Y'all Bunches 💓
Yes There are many varieties Pumpkin, Apple, Pineapple, Strawberries many more options 😋 Due to never measuring to make Homemade Flour Tortillas Now my daughter's want a recipe So maybe you can help me out Por Favor Love Y'all ❤️
As a matter of fact, I do! It can be found in this video. ua-cam.com/video/OR8cTocNLYs/v-deo.htmlsi=543n14JjLgssIi7Q If you don’t want to watch it, the recipe is in the description :)
Just curious as to why you should not reuse the lids if they have already been used for canning? I have reused them if the seal looks good and there are no blemishes on the metal but honestly if there’s a reason why I shouldn’t it would be useful to know. Thank you for your time.
Hey Karen! It’s a recommendation made by the higher ups because reusing lids can lead to seal failures. If you’re using your eyes, nose, and common sense when canning and consuming canned foods you should be fine. But due to the safety issue it’s not a recommendation I’m going to make on my channel 🤗
Hmm, I’d have to do some weighing and some comparisons to give you an accurate number but let’s say you use three spoonfuls for a pound of meat, I’m guessing roughly five maybe six servings? That’s a good question. If I put together another video like this in the future I’ll look into servings a bit more.
Question?? How big is your pot of chili? I have 6 children, our pots of chili may be different sizes if you are single. Thank you for posting these, this is my first discovery of your videos. I'm excited to try these.
Hey Amy! I’m so glad you’re here! My chili recipe serves six but I try to write my recipes in a way that they’re easily scaleable. Here’s the recipe: faithandarrowhomestead.com/hidden-bean-chili/#recipe You could probably get away with the same amount of veggies and beans but add another two cups of broth and another two tablespoons of masa harina, another tablespoon of tomato paste, and mmm maybe another small can of crushed tomatoes. This should work out nicely for you. Adjust the seasonings to your taste. God bless!

Im a new subscriber today, but i already know after watching your snacks for your hungry husband that you're in my top favorites to watch.❤❤ Where are you? Id like to know because you said it's snowing. Im in Texas, so its been cold, but it hardly ever snows.
Hi, thank you!! I’m in Upstate New York
@faithandarrowhomestead ok. My brother lives in CT. I grew up there. I love the East Coast. I miss the food. Tx has great Tex- Mex, but not great Seafood.
My daughter loves when I make Mississippi pot roast. It takes a sachet of au jus and a sachet of ranch seasoning. Save my money! 😂
Omg yum!!
I’m looking into it! A lot of people have requested it.
@@faithandarrowhomestead You are so sweet. Thanks heaps.
If you like oatmeal, you can put pumpkin pie spice in your oatmeal
Pumpkin pie on apple pie and coffee creamer
Love you and your videos. Will you please make some poultry seasoning?
Great idea! Thank you
Pumpkin pie spice hot buttered rum mix
Oh my gosh 🤤
That's how I mix my seasonings
I stopped using taco seasoning packets and just use salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, ground cumin. This way I can control the amounts like salt and garlic. Light on the salt always heavy on the garlic. lol
Yes awesome!
Have you made Empañadas with your Pumpkin Spice
I misplaced your Seasoning info & I'm writing it down again
Mexican Shortcuts to American Dishes would help me so much

Happy to help!!
Howdy and thanks for sharing your pantry seasoning staples. Do you happen to have a hot chocolate mix that you love? Just an 💡 idea/suggestion 😊
As a matter of fact, I do! It can be found in this video.

If you don’t want to watch it, the recipe is in the description :)
Try to make home made pumpkin pie creamer
Just curious as to why you should not reuse the lids if they have already been used for canning? I have reused them if the seal looks good and there are no blemishes on the metal but honestly if there’s a reason why I shouldn’t it would be useful to know. Thank you for your time.
Hey Karen! It’s a recommendation made by the higher ups because reusing lids can lead to seal failures. If you’re using your eyes, nose, and common sense when canning and consuming canned foods you should be fine. But due to the safety issue it’s not a recommendation I’m going to make on my channel 🤗
How many servings does your taco seasoning make compared to store bought package?
Brand new to the idea of making homemade seasons.
Hmm, I’d have to do some weighing and some comparisons to give you an accurate number but let’s say you use three spoonfuls for a pound of meat, I’m guessing roughly five maybe six servings? That’s a good question. If I put together another video like this in the future I’ll look into servings a bit more.
How about pumpkin ice cream or pumpkin milk shakes. Just a thought.❤
Oh yum!! Good idea
Coffee creamer is the easiest to make‼️‼️
Would you consider making different kinds of salad dressing 😉🙏
I will look into it!
Here’s the recipe:

You could probably get away with the same amount of veggies and beans but add another two cups of broth and another two tablespoons of masa harina, another tablespoon of tomato paste, and mmm maybe another small can of crushed tomatoes. This should work out nicely for you. Adjust the seasonings to your taste. God bless!
Great thank you, ever so much.
Cajun Seasoning, please 🙂
Out of curiosity do you keep the bought spice containers for anything?
I keep so many containers in case I one day need them. I have boxes of them. Someday I’ll find a use 😜
Chinese 5 spice please xx
Can I replace brown sugar with coconut sugar or zero calories sugar? Or it can change the flavor?
It may change the flavor a bit but I imagine it would still be good :) I like coconut sugar, that would probably be the best substitute.
