The building code here in NC does not require joist hangers...The code also allows the use of a 2"X2" ledger strip along the rim joist....Being from the northeast, I would never build a deck without joist hangers and blocking/bridging between joists.
Here in illinois the code is joist hangers at the house and then a beam running the whole span of the deck with 12" allowable overhang. Joists must be toenailed into the beam. @Timcompton-rt4rx
@@tnoel374 from what I saw in part 1 'This Deck Will Kill You/Wood Rot' I figured that the debris in the bags & garbage can must be the rotted wood from the deck project plus cutoffs..my mistake...lol
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a little yellow dump trailer? Ha!
Good work Tom.
LOL Yes I sold it.
Great work Tom! As usual!
Looks better than ours 😊
That deck looks high
13 foot off the ground
@@tnoel374 I’m not doing one once it’s over ten feet
Hey Tom, your videos are perfect just the way they are. Because they’re real! Just saying.
Thank you for saying that.
Looks good do you have to paint it have a great evening
paint in 6 months dry it out.
Did you upsell the pressure wash and paint before summer is over? Get that $$$! PS You really should put joist hangers on those.
Joist hangers are not needed. I did upsell the pressure washing and repaint work.
Editing: same here. I post what I film. Flaws and all.
I know I watch your videos and there like mine.
Hey brother, any reason you didn’t use joist hangers? Just curious thx brother, Bird from the Jersey Shore 👍🏻💯🍻💵👊🏻
Not needed in this case it has joist stringers already

First of all why would you chop up a bunch of lumber? That makes no sense.
all the lumber Tom chopped up was rotted, no longer usable.....
All of the lumber is rotted????
