I love listening and following all of you guys' books. Both of you do an exceptional job. This book hit home for me. I lost my daughter tragically when she was hit by a school bus walking home from school(the irony). It's been two years, and it has not been easy at all. I'm still in the beginning of the book, and i will continue, but I wanted to say that you guys so far did awesome in this book. There are definitely no words to express the pain and sorrow of losing ones child, especially when they're taken unexpectedly. My baby girl was 16 years old at the time, and as time moves on my husband and I are kind of a bit in limbo. We have a son whom we are making sure makes the best out of his life even if he doesn't have that guiding light that was his sister. We've turned our pain to God. We have placed it in his hands, and He has not failed us. He spoke to my heart in the hospital when we found out about our daughter not making it through. He said He saved her from worse things to come. And I believe him, especially since I found those exact same words written in the Bible. It's in Isaiah 57:1. I'll continue now with the book i just wanted to share my story and let you guys know that listening to the books that you guys write and read have helped me a lot with coping. May God bless both of you and may He allow you guys to keep working together doing this amazing work.
Thank you, Sorangel - I can't even begin to imagine what you've been through. Thank you for taking the time to share your story and your uplifting words. I know I won't be alone in praying for you and your family.
What I love most about this story is that it deals with the balance between the surrender to God's sovereignty, and the fact that it's still okay to grieve, to struggle with the deep pain and sorrow of losing someone close to you. That trusting God doesn't mean you just paste a smile on your face and get on with life. Jessie did a beautiful job of painting that picture here. And Jay - just wow. The way you pulled the emotional impact out of the story, especially at the beginning - I felt Sunday's pain. The best collaboration yet!
Hard beginning to the story but gets better as it goes. The way Noah does his best to help Sunday is so nice. I like that Abad situation can be improved overtime and God is there always.
Even though this book starts off so sad with a funeral scene, I can hear the sympathy in your voice Jay making it easier to listen to. I also know that Jessie will turn this sadness into joy so I have to keep listening and reading to find the joy inthe story. I couldn't believe the way Sunday's ex-husband acted at the funeral. She is blessed to be rid of him. Have a good weekend.
Great narration as always. Jay brings the story to life. I had a hard time with this book and cried my way through it. It opens with Sunday at the funeral for her 7year old son Noah. He drowned. This was a very emotional book and a difficult read for anyone and especially for those who have experienced the loss of a child. My son was an adult when he passed but it’s a loss that while you do heal I t’s always with you. The author does a great job of handling this subject and brings Sunday through her grief in a very believable way.
This book had me in tears from the beginning. For some reason, one of the most tearful moments for me was "business boy's" first letter to "lover of the lake". I experienced loss of a baby but never one that I held in my arms and loved on for 7 years before losing. I lost 4 babies during my second trimester and I thought that I would never recover but to hear what Sunday went through was devastating. I love how Jessie writes about real people and real life scenarios even the most hurtful things a human can deal with. She shows how you can either rise above it and get better or let it destroy your life. She always chooses to show redemption. I know that is why I am drawn to her books. Jay's God-given talent of narration brings these books to life in a way that no other narrator could do. Thanks for sharing your talents with us Jessie and Jay!!!
What an emotional book! Jessie Gussman knows how to express such emotion in her writing that it can bring tears and laughter in the same story. The sorrow of child loss, the anger of hurtful words, and the happiness found in hope, are all protrayed in this book. Jay takes the words he reads to the next level with his narration. Thank you, Jessie and Jay, for once again sharing your talents with us.
My review. Such a beautiful but very emotional story. Sunday has lost her only child and feels like her life is over. Noah has already loved her and tries to help by writing her an anonymous letter. This story is filled with deep insight into the process of grief and belief and reliance upon God. I love how Jessie Gussman describes in depth the process of emotional healing with Sunday and the importance of Noah’s friendship. I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review. I loved this so much.
This book was sad but comforting at the same time. Jessie describes the pain of loosing a child so close to reality and Jay’s narration gave it depth. I lost two sons, one when I was not a Christian and the other when I was! As a Christian I looked up to Jesus and He showed me that pain, hope, peace and joy can co-exist. Thank you for this book.
Thank you Jay: another beautiful story! Honestly, I was afraid to read it after discovering the blurb but the author broaches this sensitive topic (loss of a child and guilt) with sensitiveness and tact. I cried but good tears, healing tears! It still is a romance but a profound one and the book is full of great thoughts about loss, guilt and forgiveness.
You're so welcome - and yes, Jessie is just amazing with this story! I was a little anxious myself getting after reading the first couple of chapters while preparing to record it - I should have known better than to worry; only good tears here too! 😊
This is my review of this wonderful book. I loved this romance between Sunday and Noah. Their relationship started with friendship and anonymous letters that Noah wrote to Sunday after her son's funeral. The characters are lovable. Jessie Gussman has a way of writing about a tragedy and letting joy come from seeking God's plan. I especially liked the way that Sunday was able to save a foal by delivering it and then feeding it after its Mother died. I highly recommend this book as a clean Christian romance to read and listen to the audiobook on UA-cam by a great narrator. I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I love the way Sunday was drawn out by Noah and Business man. Thank you for proving me a wonderful day. I listened all day once I received the notice it was out. I had a few interruptions. But I pretty much listened straight through. I can’t wait for all the rest of the releases ❤
Oof. This book starts out very difficult for me. I am a mother of 3 and one of my top fears is one of my children drowning! So, this beginning hit my momma heart hard. It’s a hard truth as a Christian that one of the answers God gives is “no.” The dichotomy that we know our kids are better in the presence of God but we’d still rather them here with us. The trusting of God, but only up to the extent that He follows our desires… these are the things I’ve been wrestling with lately. What do we do when God allows trials and testing that go against our desires and opinions of what “good” is? Do we only trust Him when He follows our plans? Do we stick so firm in the Hope and promise of forever, that persecution and loss and pain in this life lose their hold on us? Do we find comfort in the fact that God will use everything for our good and His glory? I love how Gussman always points us back to God and the Bible. You cannot read any of her books without them either confirming your faith or pricking your conscience. Often, they do both of those. Another incredible book.
A very moving book. ❤( Just to let you know in chapter 21 Noah writes about his grumpy dog, then the pronouns change from he to she. I used to proof read a lot of stuff & I guess old habits die hard?)
Sunday Landry suffers the loss of her young son when he drowns in Lake Michigan. Former high school friend, Noah Emery is back in town and befriends her. She needs a purpose to get out of bed and function. When they help deliver a foal for her brother and the mare dies, she and Noah take over feeding it and begin to bond. A truly inspiring look at grief and moving forward after the death of a child.
Excellent question, and timely, too: I'm actually explaining it in tomorrow's preview! I'll give you a quick preview of the, uh, preview 😊... there are really two reasons we do it in this alternating pattern: first, Jessie (typically) publishes a new book every two weeks, so I can't make full audiobooks faster than she writes them (also, writing a book every two weeks is INCREDIBLE, right?). Secondly, once I have a new book from Jessie, it takes me nearly two weeks to make the audiobook: the recording, the editing, the video creation, and the previews - 9 working days out of 10, most of the time - so that's why we (typically) have a full audiobook every two weeks. However, we really wanted to share something new *every* week, and while that remaining 1 working day out of 10 isn't enough to do a *full* audiobook, we realized it is enough time to create something about an hour long... and the idea of doing one book as hour-long episodes every other Friday was born! It helps that Jessie has a very few books that she's published that we haven't made into audios yet - we'll eventually do all of these, and we'll have to figure something else, but for now, that's why we normally alternate between full releases and episodes! (We do shift our pattern around sometimes for vacations and other real-life goings-on, but that's our normal plan!)
Thanks for your explanation. Guess I need to read slower. Haha I’ve finished all your downloads except for the newest episodes. Sorry, filling retirement time is making me greedy…..I know, not a very attractive trait. I’m venturing out exploring other Christian writers (and just as important, the narrators) but just between you and me….”they ain’t y’all!”

Truly great writing and narrating when you are crying as you listen… great book. Thank you both 💕😊
Our pleasure! So glad you're enjoying it, Jan!

Thank you, Karen! I thought the opening was so well written - it wasn't hard to find any motivation. Have a great weekend too!
The start of the story had me in tears....losing a child is so painful...like always Jay and Jessie had the magic.
Thank you, Lebogang - I thought this was a very powerful story as well.
Well I had a good cry.
A healthy one.Along with Sunday for her son.
Thank you Jessie and Jay.
My emotions hit differently with this one here.
Thank you so much - I'm right there with you; it was a very emotional read for me, too. Amazing work by Jessie!

I am sorry for your loss and pain.
I was very emotional listening to this book. My son was 27 when he passed, it's been 22 years. 😢

Jay, quick question…..why are some books a full download and recently some are Episodes?
I do enjoy both Jessie’s and your talents!

Ooofff beautiful but heavy book. 💔🥺❤️🩹🥹
Thank you! It is a bit heavy, true. I do love how Jessie manages to make it so uplifting, though.
